Dr. Rix feels that it is important to identify the causes of orthodontic problems and correct these causes along with the orthodontic problems in the interests of stability, effective treatment and related health issues. Correcting the causes of orthodontic problems around 6 to 10 years of age appears to enable a greater improvement in growth compared to treating during adolescence.
A significant portion of treatment in our practice is "interceptive" treatment in 6 to 10 year olds. Dr. Rix understands that environmental influences are a significant cause of orthodontic problems either directly or through mouth breathing or the development of an orofacial myofunctional disorder (OMD).

I love being an orthodontist. There is tremendous satisfaction in transforming the smiles of my patients and seeing the difference it makes in their lives. It is a privilege for me to get to know my patients and be a part of their lives through the course of treatment. Orthodontics is a challenging field.
Orthodontics is the area of dentistry which includes the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. Dentofacial Orthopedics refers to the guidance of the growth of the jaws and the bones of the face for facial balance and well fitting jaws.
Just as there are specialties in medicine such as cardiology for your heart or dermatology for your skin, there are specialties in dentistry such as periodontics for your gums and orthodontics for your face and smile. An orthodontist is a dental specialist, having 8-11 years of training in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and facial irregularities.

Orthodontic treatments vary so much in techniques and lengths of treatments that it is not possible to provide a meaningful approximation of costs. Dr. Rix will provide an initial consultation at no charge, and will provide an estimate of the cost for treatment for you or your child at that time. It is also your choice to attend a different orthodontist to get a second opinion about treatment and costs.
As a general rule, you should call our office when you experience severe pain or have a painful appliance problem you can't take care of yourself. You might be surprised to learn that you may be able to solve many problems yourself temporarily until you can get to our office. If there is a loose piece that you can remove, put it in a plastic bag or envelope and bring it with you to your next appointment.
The causes of orthodontic problems (etiology of malocclusion) can be grouped into three basic groups: specific causes, genetic influences, and environmental influences. Disturbances of dental development such as missing teeth, extra teeth, improper guidance of the eruption of teeth (impacted teeth), and trauma to teeth.

My son is getting Invisalign and tongue therapy and I don’t doubt that Dr Rix knows his stuff, even though this is a new way to try to correct a crooked jaw. Just asked the front desk for a more detailed receipt for my benefits and was told they have over 500 payment plans and this receipt is perfectly fine. Just pay and don’t bug them is the impression I’m getting.

Very pleased with my visit. I went in here needing a new retainer as I lost my old one. The front end staff spend about 20 mins on the phone with me prior to me even coming in, the lady answered all of my questions and was extremely friendly and helpful. Dr.Rix provided me with a few option at a very reasonable cost.
I ended up just getting my one retainer but will probably go back for their invisible retainers to further adjust my teeth.
Also the location is very easy to find, it is very nice inside (very kid friendly) and extremely clean.
If you are looking for an orthodontist I would recommend

Dr. Rix and his staff are amazing! We were referred to him by a friend who takes their child there as well. After the first consult we knew we would be going with Dr Rx for ortho work. Our son goes there and the three appointments he has had so far have been awesome. All the staff are so friendly and Dr.Rix is an amazing orthodontist. We have seen improvement in the 2 months of using the myobrace. Can not say enough great things about the staff and Dr.Rix. Highly recommended.

Dr.Rix is the best orthodontist in Calgary he is extremely nice and he will get to know you personally, he will help you out with any problems you may have and his customer service is excellent. I highly recommend going to him. I have been with him for 5 years and he will do everything to make to have a straight smile and his prices are cheaper that many others because he knows how much braces and orthodontic appliances cost to a normal person.
