A.V. Macan revolutionized golf architecture in the Pacific Northwest over a career which spanned five decades beginning pre-World War I. Working almost exclusively throughout the Pacific Northwest, Macan's pioneering efforts are reflected in nearly 43 golf courses. He was born in 1882 in Dublin Ireland to an established family who lived right beside Oscar Wilde.
Our designer, A.V. 'Mac' Macan, had immigrated to Victoria in 1910 from Ireland. Born in Dublin in 1892, he became a golfer and student of course architecture during the golden age of golf in Ireland, when from 1892- 1915 more than 200 courses opened. He arrived on the west coast to almost single-handedly begin a similar golden age of golf course expansion in the Pacific Northwest.
We value our members and our goal will always be to provide a superb golf course with a layout that offers a unique challenge on every hole, exceptional member service and a social atmosphere where you can relax with new friends and playing partners. That's why you'll want to investigate membership at GV.

Food was excellent!!! Great prices and tasty, house made food. I will definitely be back. I met up with a couple of friends there. We ate outside and the service was good. Our server Lindsay was awesome. Safe distanced and wore a mask. Local micro brew beers were available. That is all we will drink so we were happy!

This place is one of my regular lunch spots for taking work meetings. They have a fantastic cobb salad, and their fries are fantastic as well. They also serve great coffee. The only reason I dropped a star is because they had to tweak their menu, and in that tweak, the portions decreased, which was one of my favourite aspects in terms of value. That said, the existing portions at present are totally similar to comparable establishments in Victoria for the price point, and the view is super. (sit on the deck in the summer!)

For $94 I'd expect the sand to be consistent throughout the course and for the bunkers to be raked regularly. Some of them were pretty crusty. Also there was some kind of event at the cemetery so 2 holes were shortened without warning. Otherwise the course was great. Greens and fairways were perfect.

Great food enjoyed by four of us. Crisp cold salads, thick well filled sandwiches and the fried items on combo platter were perfect. Crisp and not greasy. As you can tell everyone ordered something different. Wonderful service by a young woman who was very attentive even though we were the only table enjoying lunch on the patio. Recommended for all.

Had a good time golfing the Gorge for the first time in many years. Getting off the greens my partner and I wondered around a few times looking for the next hole. (spend a couple bucks on arrows or? your patrons will appreciate it) We got cut up pretty bad from the berry prickle branches that crossed many pathways on to the next T-box, looked like we were fighting with a manic cat. Over all we enjoyed the day

This is a course that that is semi private on Vancouver Island. There is membership but the general public is allowed to play as well. Both the public and members play on the same 18 holes. Other courses that I have played, such as Swan-e-set have two courses, one for members and one for the public.
Course wise it is a nice course with tree lined fairways and some interesting hole layouts.
