Albany Medical Clinic
Since 1946, the Albany Medical Clinic has been providing a wide range of quality community based healthcare services all under one roof. After the war, they came together and purchased the Albany Maternity Hospital that had been operating on the Danforth since the early 1930's. Today, the medical team at the Albany Medical Clinic has more than 30 family doctors and more than 40 different specialists supported by a team of staff including nurses and other direct physician supports.
Services
Osteoporosis is a disease of the bones characterized by a progressive loss of bone tissue, which can result in an increase in the risk of fractures, often from minor falls or spills that would not normally result in a fracture. A routine x-ray examination can reveal osteoporosis, but by the time this can be detected using a conventional x-ray, the disease may have progressed significantly.
Our DR (Direct Digital Read) Mammo machine provides for a rapid turn-around of information, better storage, easier comparisons and the ability to integrate with electronic medical records. Mammography is an x-ray procedure and it therefore involves some exposure to radiation. However, the amount of radiation is extremely low.
Our new hospital grade pulmonary function 'Body Box' has arrived! The Body Box is a very sensitive tool for measuring the output of your lungs. It is an airtight chamber that contains measuring equipment. As a patient, you sit in the chamber and complete different breathing techniques into the equipment.
All four of our ultrasound machines use digital imaging. This allows for a more rapid turn-around of information, better storage, easier comparisons and the ability to integrate with electronic medical records. An ultrasound test is a diagnostic technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the organs and structures of the body.
General diagnostic exams may be ordered by your physician to diagnose conditions in the chest, bone, sinuses, skull or spine. Diagnostic x-ray was the first procedure developed in the field of radiology, and in many ways, it is still the most commonly employed form of radiology. X-rays allow for a painless, quick evaluation, often detecting diseases in the early stages, where the chance for recovery is improved.

If you want people to care about your health don't come here. It starts with the initial phone call you make (phone appt only) they NEVER pick up the phone. I got through once and told me it was too late to refill my prescription all the doctors are busy. Although I mentioned to her I've called the last 4 days in a row with no one picking up
( I'm currently on hold and have been for 14 minutes). Not only that, constantly asking me if I have a family doctor with them seeing as I've been using them for 2 years but Ive told them no because they don't help you find a family

I have been a patient for more than 4 years at Albany clinic and I have to warn anyone away from this place. The doctors are nice enough, but the staff are so disrespectful that I have been avoiding attempting to call in to make an appointment despite requiring follow-ups for my cancer treatments. It is not possible to call back if you miss a call from them as there is no menu option for speaking to your doctor's receptionist, if you happen to have one there (which I do). It hasn't been possible for me to book an appointment with my actual doctor for a year, so I am leaving. They also

As of July 28, 2021, they have ONE doctor, a female doctor accepting patients with a 1500 person waiting list. This country is getting like the old Soviet Union, there are NO doctors accepting patients here. Insane.

The building is a rather grubby old place like out of the 1960s.

Terrible.. Doctors are rushed and follow a standard of service which is counter-productive to improving peoples lives.

In terms of looking for a family doctor. They have a strict policy that you cannot switch to another doctor at the clinic.  Even if say.. You haven't seen your family doctor in years and need someone with better availability.

This policy goes directly against the "Canada Health Act" because it limits patients access to service.. But, who cares, right?  We don't want doctors getting on each other about stealing patients.  That is obviously more important

The Albany Medical Clinic doesn't always get the best reviews and I think that's a shame. I've had two doctor's there and I liked both of them very much. I've had occasion to visit the clinic when I required more urgent care and they were exceeding prompt and professional. I received my Covid Vaccine today. It was prompt, painless, and the staff were very friendly and organized.

During the current crippling restrictions, I guess the Albany Clinic just can't be all things to all people for a while but if you need to see a doctor urgently, I understand they will accommodate

This is the worst medical clinic I have ever been to in my life. The staff are rude, unorganized and unprofessional. They are swearing behind the counter and barely paying attention to the patients. They made countless mistakes in my time there.

Horrible service.

I was in need of a new Family Doctor due to my Doctor retiring.

The Albany Medical Clinic do not provide the office numbers of the Doctors directly instead you have to call the Call Centre & hold between 15 to 30 minutes then they transfer you to that doctors office with an additional wait time of 3 minutes to 15 minutes. So all together expect to be on the phone on hold for nearly 45 minutes to book an appointment with your doctor.

If the Doctor's Office doesn't pick up the phone, after being transferred by the Call Centre & after waiting 15 to 30 minutes

I went to the walk in clinic today and the receptionists/nurses were extremely rude to several people - i.e. didn't want to tell them how many people in front of them, wouldn't respond to questions sometimes, etc. My most annoying point is that they I was first told 1 hr wait - waited and waited and then after an 1hr went up and was told there were 4 people ahead of me, that was a lie - I saw 8 or 9 people go in before me and I was there and registered before them so I went up and ask why were these people going in before me - she advised me that I had to see a particular Dr. WHY?

I've been to this place a few times over the years (as my family practice is closed over the weekends). I've had some bad experience - for example once a nurse or an assistant reprimanded me in front of others, because I dared (gasp!) to look into my medical files! yes, paid by the OHIP medical tests results are strictly forbidden and off limit for patients (but that was some time ago..). another time a receptionist was super sweet and helpful and retrieved an old medical document I needed for a specialist.
I would say the wait time as for a walk-in clinic is not too bad (at least on

My daughter attended and we were seen very quickly. She had a thorough examination, an immediate result to her blood test, and a quick and accurate diagnosis. The staff was helpful and very courteous. Although we usually go to our family doctor, Albany certainly helped us when we needed medical advice in a pinch.

This used to be such a great clinic before it became overcrowded! The walk-in clinic always has a 2 hour wait so I've abandoned it in favour of Appletree Medical. It is nice that they offer specialists and Life Labs on site, but getting an appointment can be a big challenge. You really have to be patient to be a patient here!

UPDATE: I needed to visit this clinic again a couple of days ago (same scenario that brought me there the first time) and once again had no issues whatsoever - was seen quickly and everyone was polite, helpful and organized. Obviously some people are having bad experiences here, but I'm not.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST experience, and I'm not even a patient.
Called in 3 times (ALL with in the sign in hours ) to find a new Family Physician/ Doctor
1st call: was picked up and then hung up after 10 min.
2nd call: i was on hold for 20 min. and eventually (mysteriously) disconnected.
3rd call: was made at 3:20 pm, I was on hold for 47 MINS then to be told by an ABSOLUTELY extremely DISRESPECTFUL receptionist, that signing up for a physician is between 10 - 12 pm and 2 - 4 pm.
I advised her, i was aware of the given times and this is was my 3rd call, I explained i have been hung up on and

My GP has thankfully moved from this clinic, and I elected to follow her instead of choosing a new doctor here. The staff that operates the phones/bookings are rude 90% of the time. If you are unhappy answering phones for a living, get another job! I had one guy who continually called my cell phone and work phone (even when I told him to remove my work number because I cannot talk on the phone while working) and leave angry, rude voice messages saying I had to call back immediately. He would call like 2-3 times a day, leaving snarky messages every time. I could never actually get him on the phone

Horrible customer service from the incompetent and flat out rude receptionists. The clinic claims to be open 365 days a year yet they "reserve the right" to close early whenever they want. I have tried to get my test results on 3 separate occasions and each time I show up DURING the posted walk-in hours, the clinic has either closed early (without warning) or the wait time is 3+ hours. Not only is the wait time absurd but the clinic doors get locked and everyone is forced to sit in the waiting room without the option of leaving and coming back. This practice is annoying and selfish.

When I moved to Toronto, I needed a new family doctor. I asked a few friends, and was recommended Dr. Podnieks. I booked an appointment and after a bit of paperwork ta-dah! - a new family doctor. I didn't have any of the headache I have heard others having finding a family doc (maybe I got lucky?).

I have always been happy with the service provided to me by Dr. Podnieks and her staff.

However, they lose a star because the washrooms in this building are super gross. I had to pee in a cup at the lab and I almost barfed at the washrooms. I then went down the hall to a more general public

There is a reason why ALL the doctors drive luxury cars and how they could afford to build this new building in such a short time. They may be a, walk-in clinic, but they charge as if they're a private practice in Rosedale.

I have a regular doctor in Scarborough but for convenience sake this building is within 2 mins walking distance from my home. For the two times I visited, both times I got bills in the mail the following weeks. I have a full 100% union medical insurance plan plus OHIP but still I get bills from them.

One time I had x-rays done and they asked which doctor was mine. I

It took forever to book a family doctor . I'm not familiar with the Canadian health care system , but for what I have experienced I feel that I deserve better . I looked into this clinic and want to get a family doctor cause it has good reviews and it close to where I live . I went in for a couple of times for walk in . The first time I was seeing this doctor I said can I ask two questions , she told me " No I don't have time , pick one question and ask me ." I was pretty upset with that visit . But I am willing to give it second try.
And considering its close and the infrastructure

Good walk-in clinic. I love that it's open late. Wait times are long but this is typical of walk-in clinics in Toronto (especially one that's open later than others, like this one). This walk-in is a one minute walk from the subway station which is very convenient. Pharmacy is right beside so it's easy to fill prescriptions. Also located here is other departments such family doctors (appointments only), different tests can be taken here (such as blood tests, etc.), lab on site as well.

All the doctors that I've had there have been nice and efficient, especially Dr. Lam. She
