Sackville Animal Hospital
First of all, we want to thank all of our clients for their support in these uncertain times, and we appreciate all that have taken the proactive steps of phoning or e-mailing ahead for orders. We wish to adhere to the Public Health Guidelines while also continuing to service our patients as best as we can.

In an effort to remain at the forefront of exposure prevention, we will be implementing certain measures at our hospital. Next to keeping ourselves and our families healthy, maintaining our operations so that we may continue to provide medical care, prescription medications and diets, as well as advice to our patients, is our top priority.
Services
I'm often asked why I became a veterinarian, but I never imagined myself doing anything else. I was fortunate in life that I was able to follow my passion, first with a science degree at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College and then my veterinary degree at the Atlantic Veterinary College.

After school we spent 6.5 years in large progressive veterinary clinics in Western Canada, but being from this area, our hearts were always here and the opportunity to move back home to work and raise our family was too good to pass up and in 2015 Kristina and I purchased Sackville Animal Hospital.Kristina and I live on a hobby farm with our two daughters, 4 dogs, 3 cats, 2 horses and numerous other small farm animals.
We are a full service animal hospital, providing preventative, wellness and emergency care to all your pets' needs. We believe in proactive care and using the latest and advanced laboratory technologies to provide optimal care and screening for your pets. We offer the highest of animal care standards, making sure your pets leave happy and healthy.
1. Payment is expected when services are rendered. In order to focus on our patients' needs, customer service and minimizing costs, we do not bill. 2. We accept debit cards, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) checks and cash. All cards must be signed by the owner of the card. Another popular option for your family and pet is insurance coverage.
Up to 85% of dogs and cats over the age of 3 years have started to develop dental disease. Dental disease is not "normal" in pets and dental tartar and halitosis (bad Breath) is a source of infection, is painful, will progress to tooth loss and has systemic effects on organs such as the heart, liver and kidneys.
Congratulations on your new puppy! Adopting a new puppy is a very exciting time for a person, but it is also a very important time in the life of a dog. Proper nutrition, parasite prevention, vaccination and training will set your dog on the right path for the rest of their lives. Puppies should receive a series of 3 inoculations, starting at around 8 weeks of age and continuing until approximately 16 weeks of age.

We are new pet parents and were so fortunate to be able to bring Dax to start her health journey with Dr. Tyler Hughes at Sackville Animal Hospital. She is a rescue, and so some of her past history is unknown to us. We attempted getting support at another vet clinic, but did not have a good experience. Regardless of her past, she has been treated so incredibly well here. We have also been treated so incredibly well, considering we have so much to learn. Every single staff member is so friendly, supportive, and kind. We know how hard this industry is, and are so very grateful for the loving care

The amount of incompetence I have experienced since bringing my pet here since June 2021 is mind blowing. My pet was experiencing weight control, bladder and mobility issues. I brought him in with concerns of thyroid issues as his brother recently passed away of thyroid issues and was experiencing many of the same symptoms. I was billed almost $500.00 and told his thyroid was checked via extensive bloodwork and a full uranalysis was done as well. It was determined that my pet was diabetic. He started getting better with insulin treatments and they they said I had to change his food. I changed his

Was excellent. I have an old sweet dog who had to have dental surgery. They provided accurate information and our dog had 25 teeth removed. Picked him up at 3pm and by 5pm he was bouncing around like a puppy again. He healed perfect and we were provided with pictures of his teeth before during and after surgery. I have recommend this clinic to my sister who changed vets after many years and her little dog is now having his dental surgery on Monday. We are animal lovers and I cannot say enough about this place. They are outstanding! The staff is friendly and kind. Would not go anywhere else with

I am absolutely in awe of the staff here. They are all so caring and friendly and I couldn't imagine taking my elderly dog Bella anywhere else. We have had a few issues with her health over the last few months and Dr Tyler has been incredible. Nothing is too much trouble and you are never made to feel rushed. These guys are awesome and I can't thank them enough.

A special thanks to Raylee who handled all my questions and concerns about my golden retriever Teddy who needed an emergency procedure. She even called the following day to check up on him.
I have been going to Sackville Animal Hospital since the start of the pandemic which means I haven't been able to go inside for any of my dogs appointments. Choosing a vet who would be patient and kind to my 8 week old puppy was very important to me. Now as a 1 year old, my boy has never been afraid of the vet and welcomes the staff with bum wiggles and wanting pets.

This team of vets and assistants have been great to us (Myself, Diesel (GSD) and Zeus (Doberman)).
Very dedicated team, taking the time to explain the situation, provide recommendations or required procedures, and will not give up until the client is satisfied with the information received.
My dogs were well cared for while with the team for some of the procedures, ranging from x-rays, dental care to regular yearly exams.
The team is not geared to making money but geared to the well being of your fur babies.
Working via emails also help in avoiding bringing the dogs in when not required, freeing

Great place for your pets, Dr Tyler had a good knowledge and made solid recommendations about care for our dogs. Highly recommended if you have a pet. Thorough exam on the dogs we have and made sure all of our questions were answered.

Best animal care of any Vet practice I've ever used over my lifespan (50+) with my many cats and dogs. All staff so loving, caring and professional. Dr. Tyler is the only Vet my dog will take a treat from and she's seen quite a few. He's helped us so much the past 2 years with a difficult case. He takes the time to explain everything so you understand. Was great with our other dog as well. Our family loves him (& his staff)!!
