We're proud to serve the Dorchester community with the best eye care possible through excellent service and advanced equipment. From regular check-ups to specialty treatments, we're here for all of your eye care needs. Our advanced expertise, state-of-the-art equipment, and high-quality products allow us to take the best possible care of your eyes.

Adult Eye Exams In order to keep your eyes their healthiest, you should be having an eye exam every year. At your annual eye exam, we use advanced technology and equipment to test your eyes. Ocular diseases like glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration are difficult to detect on your own; your best defence is to book an annual eye exam.
Services
Dorchester Optometry, formerly known as Dr. Tim Kiddie & Associates, underwent some significant changes in 2017. After 34 years of practice, Dr. Kiddie retired, and though we're sad to see him go, we're also excited about what the future will bring. Dr. Kiddie's long term associate Dr. Katherine Jones will continue to practice at Dorchester Optometry and is now joined by Dr. Kathryn Boult and Dr. Heather Sangster.
Regular eye exams play a critical role in your general eye care strategy, and also contribute to your overall health and well being. Comprehensive eye exams allow your optometrist to track your eye health and vision, and look for signs of serious eye conditions and diseases. No matter your age, you should be undergoing regular eye exams.
Good vision and eye health play a vital role in your child's development. Children rely on their vision to learn, so an undiagnosed eye problem could impact their development and prevent them from reaching their full potential. Annual eye exams allow your child's optometrist to detect and track small changes in your child's vision and ocular health.
Diabetes is a systemic condition that impacts the body in a variety of ways, and can negatively impact our eye health and vision. Individuals with diabetes have unique eye care needs and should visit their optometrist at least once per year. Even if you're not currently experiencing any health problems and your blood sugar is well controlled, it's still vital for you to see your optometrist regularly.
Myopia, more commonly known as nearsightedness, is one of the most commonly occurring vision problems found in the developed world. Myopia is a refractive error that affects our distance vision. When the surface of your eye is too steep, or your eye is too long, your lens ends up focusing light in front of your retina instead of on it, causing blurry distance vision.

My appointment time at Dorchester Optometry was excellent from the moment I arrived, to when I was finished and left. Everyone was prompt and thorough during the examination and answered any questions I had. Dr Jones went above and beyond making sure all procedures were explained before and after. All COVID protocols were followed and I never felt unsafe at any time. I would definitely recommend Dorchester Optometry to anyone looking for an optometrist.

Dorchester Optometry is the best! Very safe environment following strict covid protocols. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They have a small selection of frames to choose from, but they were all beautiful and the staff was very knowledgeable on fit. I am thrilled to have found such a welcoming and professional place so close to home.

I was welcomed by the friendliness receptionist at the door, great covid protocol in place. Eye exam was extensive and made me aware of possible health effects I could have going on but at the same time tackling them early. The Dr made me feel she was there for my health not just an eye exam or to get a sale for glasses.
