Services
Our Goal is to enhance the quality of life of our patients, by delivering a full complement of community based health care services including: diagnostic assessment, medication based treatment, psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural treatment and mindfulness based treatment. We also are engaging in research to enhance and develop new and exciting approaches to helping people reach wellness.
The S.T.A.R.T. Clinic for Mood & Anxiety Disorders offers specialized outpatient assessment and treatment services for people with mood & anxiety disorders. Subsequent to a referral into our clinic, we begin with a thorough individual assessment. This entails a consultation as an evaluation to assist in determining what may be contributing to the individual's problematic condition.
Our clinic provides a broad range of outpatient consultation, evaluation and treatment interventions for emotional, psychological and cognitive problems. Typically, each person receives an initial assessment in order to clarify both the source of the difficulties and potential intervention for improving the quality of life for the individual.
Individual therapy may be conducted with a psychiatrist, GP psychotherapist, psychologist, Social Worker or Other Therapist within the clinic. Some may feel more comfortable doing individual cognitive behavioural therapy as oppose to a group setting. On your referral form it is imperative to indicate what type of treatment is best suited for you.
Our cognitive behavioural therapy groups are an effective alternative to one-on-one treatment program. Group sessions are 2 hours long and are held once per week for 16 weeks.

In addition to providing a supportive setting to discuss and learn about anxiety disorders, the groups involve: therapist accompanied exposure tasks, exposure to anxiety symptoms, training on cognitive restructuring techniques, and the designation of individual homework tasks and long term goals.
