Leigh Gate, RHI, OAHI's president was interviewed for this story on CTV News' Consumer Alert with Pat Foran. Hi Fellow OAHI members, As I sit in my office and write this, I cannot help but to reflect on all the past year and all that it had to offer and. The Ontario Association of Home Inspectors (OAHI) is the oldest and most respected Home Inspection Association in Ontario.
Our Ever-Changing World As our veteran members will likely attest, our profession is dependent on many external factors: The real estate market, foreign investment policy, and housing supply to name the most influential. Our business is cyclical, and it gets pulled in different directions by outside influences.

Buying a house may seem like an endless series of critical, important decisions. When you find the house that is right for you, you need to find a home inspector to educate you about the condition of your new home. This is a commonplace and a wise decision, even when buying a newly constructed home; the additional peace of mind that a professional home inspection offers is invaluable.
Although never ranked as a number one problem, plumbing defects still rank high among the house problems encountered, and include the existance of old or incompatible piping materials, as well as faulty fixtures and waste lines. With rural lots, the source of the water and the delivery system must be considered, is the water safe and can the pump deliver the desired pressure.

We did a concrete sidewalk for a homeowner named Gavin Miles on 111 Martinglen Ave in Kitchener in July of 2019.. He complained about the job layout and some small deficiencies, but it was exactly what he asked for. He didn't pay the bill. At the end of August, he presented us with a home inspection report done by Brad Durant of Home Front Professional Home Inspections. Brad said on the report that the sidewalk had to be torn out and replaced over some small and definitely easily repaired details. Details, like honeycombing on the stair face that we would have parged if we were allowed to finish

Not sure why Google won’t allow a truthful review of this group. Simple money grab to make Home Inspectors appear to have some sort of clout if they belong. It’s been a year since submitting way too much written & videotaped evidence about a dishonest experience with one of their home inspectors and nothing has been done. Every follow up has either resulted in asking for me to start again and resend everything because they don’t seem to have it, or my attempts go unanswered. Upon further research, the OAHI has been set up and is run by Home Inspectors to try and make the public feel “safe”
