Our playground is the only play structure that is age appropriate for preschool children age 2-5. Our current facility was built onto the the curling club, with support from the KInsman Club. Stony Mountain Child Care Center was established in 1974 for the community of Stony Mountain as a nusery program.

Services
In 1974 community members felt the need to start a nursery program for the community of Stony Mountain and incorporated as Play Penn Co-op Inc. Over the years the program has grown and changed to meet the needs of families in the community. In 2002, we legally changed our name to Stony Mountain Child Care Centre Co-op Inc.
We believe that children are unique individuals, who learn best through a play-based environment. Children at our centre are provided opportunities to learn, and explore which in turn helps them develop individually and form relationships with others. To promote play, staff will sit at children's level.
Stony Mountain Child Care Center (SMCCC) provides care for infants in partnership with parents to ensure that the transition from home to child care is as smooth as possible. We strive to satisfy each infant's need for a close physical and emotional attachment. We do this by holding, cuddling, interacting with them on the floor and being in close proximity to them at all times.
Our facility, as the only licensed group care facility, is bursting at the seems and our waiting list continues to grow. This allows us to provide age appropriate materials and activities that meets the needs of the growing child. While we have raised over $240 000.00 in donations and grants towards this project, we still have a long way to go.
