JCB Danceworks was established in 1984, under the sole direction of Jacqueline Cook-Barber. It began with just 60 students in partnership with The Town of Richmond Hill's Parks and Recreation Dept. The program grew in such magnitude that it became too large for the Town's facilities. Moving to a larger location and acquiring certified and talented staff, JCB became one of the top studios in the region.
The studio now facilitates classes in 3 full size studio rooms, and Jacqueline's daughter Nicole Barber Lofto has partnered up adding a next level of choreography and style to the JCB brand. Nicole Barber - Lofto began after growing up as a dancer at JCB and young teacher went on Ryerson University Fine Arts Dance major.

Services
Designed for dancers aged 3 and older, our recreational dance program is taught by our experienced faculty in our Richmond Hill dance studio. Programs are geared toward children of all different skill sets and experience in dance of all kinds. Classes are fun, educational and full of development opportunities.
The main goal of JCB in competition is to provide a fun and challenging experience while maintaining proper technique. The competitions provide a venue by which to learn to improve in a positive setting. It is important that both the student and parent understand it is a commitment to a team. Individuals must be willing to work hard and push for their personal best.
Not just dance! But a whole lot of it! Our summer camps are held at our Richmond Hill dance studio. In addition to lots of dancing, your children will also enjoy arts and crafts, outdoor sunshine play time with active games and studio time where they will learn theatre arts and improv as well as a choreographed mini routine to share with you their parents every Thursday of each session.
The Dance Ability Movement creates opportunities for individuals of all abilities to experience the arts! Occupational Therapists and Dance Instructors, Mallory and Jade, have created The Dance Ability Movement as a way to provide inclusive and accessible programming in dance studios so that everyone can participate!

My daughter is so happy to have a community she feels belonging to; with like minded and inspired individuals; where she gets continued support, inspiration and encouragement to be her best striving self. The competition program at JCB has been monumental for my child. We are grateful to the studio, it’s staff and all it members. We have also felt very safe sending our child to in-studio classes over stage three covid re-opening as their infection prevention protocols are up to speed with IPAC standards and recommendations for a low risk environment. Good job JCB 👌🏼

I am so proud to be a part of this amazing studio staff and family. Jacquie and Nicole have nurtured a love and passion for dance and established a warm and inviting environment for young people to express themselves through dance. The teaching staff is top notch, all wonderfully talented, kind hearted and share their passion through their class teachings.

It has been such an honour to be a part of JCB Danceworks family for well over 35 years. From the time Jacquie opened her doors she has always strived to teach the best technique while playing to an individual dancer's strengths.

Our family has been at JCB for over 9 years now and it is amazing to not only watch the girls grow as dancers but as people as well. JCB has taught them so much more than just dance. JCB is our 2nd family. JCB has also continued to operate even during a pandemic. Whether it was on Zoom or live in studio - JCB has always ensured our kids are safe and well taken care of. From the communication, to the choreography, to the friendships and the amazing teachers - JCB is the BEST!!!

When we originally signed up our daughter for dance classes 10 years ago, we picked the studio closest to our house... JCB. Little did we know how amazing the owners, teachers, and administrative staff would be. They care about the well being and development of each and every dancer.

This is the place where both my sisters go for competitive dancing. They previously did dance at a local community centre and also at vlad's dance company. My sisters prefer JCB because of the highly trained staff and super friendly dance instructors. The training is very intense, and there are several sessions a week. The facility is very clean and well-maintained.
Their claim is that they are the top studio in richmond hill, which I can believe. They offer classes to ages 3-adult, so anybody can join in.
