The eight stages of yoga are abstentions, observances, posture, breath control, withdrawal of the senses, concentration, meditation and absorption. The five niyamas or observances are cleanliness, contentment, devoted discipline, study of the scriptures and surrender to God. Here we teach Iyengar Yoga. Iyengar yoga is a systematic approach to the asanas and pranayamas developed by yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar. In Iyengar Yoga the emphasis is placed on alignment of the body, mind and breath.

Tim Ruddy is an exceptionally skilled, dedicated and versatile Iyengar yoga instructor who is sensitive to the abilities and needs of students. He is the best instructor I have ever had and continually strives to improve the performance of participants, as well as himself, with the belief that learning is a never-ending process. Workshops offered on particular postures or by guest instructors are a valuable supplement to regular classes. A gentle approach to hard work is combined with a good sense of humor!
