Originally from Sri Lanka, Dr. Dhawala moved to Saskatoon with his family when he was 15 years old. Dr. Dhawala attended the University of Saskatchewan and then the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, Dr. Dhawala worked as a mixed animal veterinarian - treating all animals from cats to cows and everything in between.
Dr. Dhawala (and Emma) moved to Vancouver Island in 2020 and has been loving it ever since. Born and raised in Victoria BC, Dr. Emma left the island to complete an undergraduate degree in Biology from the University in Calgary before heading further east to Saskatoon for her veterinary degree. Tired of the cold, Dr. Emma (and Dhawala) returned to the Island and has been living here ever since.

Our Veterinary Hospital is easy to find, just a block north of Sidney's main street (Beacon Avenue), and directly across from the Thrifty Foods grocery store on 7th Street. The hospital is open Monday to Friday (see hours below). Doctor's hours are by appointment only. Should you have an emergency during our regular hours, if possible, please call before bringing your pet to the hospital.

As a new client of our Veterinary Hospital in Sidney, you can expect our full attention to your pets' needs. When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted warmly, and we'll welcome you and your pet into the examination room after checking in your pet at the Reception desk. Your pet will be weighed by a team member prior to your pet being seen by one of our veterinarians.
We invite you to take a tour and then contact us with your questions or to schedule an appointment. One of our staff will welcome you and your pet into the exam room once you've been checked in at the reception desk. Your pet will be weighed, and Dr. Clarke will then come in to talk with you and examine your pet.

I don't even know where to begin. This is, hands down, the best team of Veterinary medical professionals on Vancouver Island. I adopted a very sick kitten recently and Garry Oak Veterinary fit me in on my way home from Vancouver with her because I was very concerned about some respiratory symptoms the kitten was experiencing. I was a blubbering mess, and Dr. Dhawala was so kind, knowledgeable and thorough. I emailed them several times asking for advice and guidance as I struggled with this experience and each time he replied in a very timely manner and answered all of my questions thoroughly. We

My 2 year old GSD had a freak accident requiring special attention and fortunately for us, Dr Dhawala was able to take us in for emergency treatment right away. I found him, as well the support staff, very compassionate, caring and professional. Unfortunately, we are from out of town so using Garry Oaks Veterinary Clinic is not practical for us. However, I would not hesitate to recommend their services to anyone looking for a good Veterinary clinic.

Dr. Dhawala is great at making every visit comfortable and enjoyable for everyone involved. He has been seeing my two frenchies since they were puppies, he has always gone above and beyond for us. We love having Dr. Dhawala as our vet because you can see how passionate he is about animals. I highly recommend Gary Oak Veterinary hospital.

Phenomenal. My little Cookie was clearly unwell, very distressed. I could not get an appointment anywhere, even the hospital was a 10 hour wait, in one's car. Dr. Thomson saw Cookie when no one else would (thank you Sandy for asking the right questions!!). The relief, to put Cookie in Dr Thomson's caring hands and her reassuring guidance was enormous. I live in Victoria but Cookie and I will be traveling to Sidney in order to see Dr. Thomson and be part of the Garry Oak clinic.
