Mrs. Mitchell's Restaurant opened its doors in 1980, named in tribute to the school's last and longest serving teacher, for her many years of dedication to her students. When we purchased the schoolhouse, we learned of its rich history from Mrs. Mitchell herself. Built in 1889, Mulmur Township School Section 2 operated for 79 years before closing in 1968.

A local favourite but overrated eatery and a disappointing experience today. Although one of our party arrived 7 minutes late it took us 30 minutes to be asked for our beverage order. By that time, we were ready to order our food but were told another server would come for our food order. Food was fine, signature mushroom soup slightly bland. Finished our meal and were presented with our bill. Then had to ask for tea which seemed to be an inconvenience. Within minutes after settling the bill and finishing our tea we were told by our server the table was reserved for another luncheon . We left.

A true gem of a restaurant located inside an old schoolhouse! Their holiday decorations are so elegant and festive - every detail was absolutely beautiful. Went for brunch and my French toast was fantastic, as was their famed mushroom soup. A basket of biscuits/muffins is brought to each table before you order, which is a nice touch. Highly recommend this place!
My only suggestion/area for improvement is that they use an online service like OpenTable for taking reservations. Their current policy is that you have to call and leave a message requesting a date and time, then someone calls you back

I was here for lunch. Table was booked 4 days ago and I got an outdoor table...
Service was very good, staffs are friendly.
Plastic chair not too comfortable and table is very shaky...
Signature mushroom soup is good but not much surprise.
Risotto and Filet sole both are too salty, a bit disappointed.
All in all it’s a nice restaurant, but I would have higher expectation according to their reviews.

A family business whose daughter has proudly carried on the culinary tradition in a warm country setting with comfort food as rich as that tradition. A bourgonion meatloaf , filet stuffed with lobster, a delicious savoury crepe and a flavourful turkey burger only to be accompanied by lattes and desserts of Carrot cake and a molten chocolate with vanilla bean ice cream. Ambience and fresh country cooking, an ongoing family tradition for us and you and yours.

My wife and I went here for valentine's day for the first time. The atmosphere and service was fantastic.
I didn't care much for my Veal Saltimbocca but my wife loved her entry. I think it had more to do with my taste than the chef and meat. I've never had veal done that way and it just wasn't for me. I would definitely go back and try another dish.

Heaven on Earth in the middle of nowhere? This place is like a Mystical Gift to Foodies Everywhere! Not only is it the best food within 20 miles it's also a place where wishes become reality, if you believe in that sort of thing. It's not just a restaurant it's a time capsule of perfection. Heidi is Amazing and the legend of Mrs. Mitchell's has been preserved better than anything you have previously encountered.
I LOVE this place!!!

During our tour of the area near Hockley Road, we came across this small restaurant on Violet Hill.
I believe they are co-owed with the small gift shop across from them (Granny Taught Us How).
I love cute, unique places with character, and this is definitely one of them. It's inside an old School House, everything inside is wooden, and the place is decorated with twine, birds, old style knick knacks.
It takes you into another world, and I like that kind of experience.
We came around 3pm, and they serve Afternoon Tea from 2-4pm (they also have Brunch, Lunch and Dinner - check the website
