Swedish massage involves long, flowing strokes, often in the direction of the heart, along with kneading and circular movements, all while using massage lotion or oil to minimize friction.
We are excited to announce that we are now offering acupuncture at Academy Massage Therapy in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Our resident acupuncturist also offers other therapeutic traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatments, such as acupressure meridian massage, fire cupping and more. Dr. Ruki offers a well-rounded approach to various ailments and concerns, not just focusing on disease treatment and chronic pain - but the root cause of these conditions.

Do NOT go here for a prenatal massage. This establishment does not appear to have a process to ensure that their practitioners are competent to provide safe, comfortable, and effective prenatal massages. One of my RMTs was clearly not trained properly in this area, and the massage made me ill and caused me to call my health care practitioner on an emergent basis. Prenatal massage was listed on her areas of expertise on their website.
Two stars becasue one of my practitioners was very accommodating, even if prenatal massage was not listed on her profile as one of her specialized areas.

CAITLIN: attention pregnant and post pregnant clients: My massage therapist was Caitlin and she was fabulous! She was able to work through pain I had in my back for over a year. She was so kind and loving. Overall, she made my experience great. I would recommend her to anyone but especially pregnancy and post pregnancy. Most of my pain was from my pregnancy and she went straight to the source.

Tiffany is great - reception is awesome and deals with payment/signatures before or after your appointment if you so choose. Several options for day time or evening sessions👌
Parking is limited during the evening sometime so I would leave earlier to find space on a side street, but daytime appointments often allow for many parking options.

This place is awesome. I had had several appointments the past few months and I highly recommend Academy Massage Therapy.
I would share the name of the RMT that I usually book, but this person's schedule and availability speaks for itself. Usually you need to book about two weeks in advance for an appointment with this individual because this RMT is very good at their craft.
Academy Massage Therapy offers direct billing which is fantastic and its automatic.

They ask that you leave your shoes at the bins provided at the front door. After my massage my shoes were stolen. I wasn't offered any compensation or anything for the inconvenience and was sent on my way. Plot twist, the shoes were taken by mistake and returned but I was asked to pick them up at my own convenient time and still no compensation was offered at this time. Even though I enjoyed the therapist whom I've regularly seen I can't bring myself to return to this business.

AMAZING massage experience! From the time I walked in the door my experience at academy massage was wonderful. The atmosphere and cleanliness of the clinic was very impressive and the reception was super friendly and always happy to see you. I have seen a few therapists now at Academy and each therapist I have seen has specifically addressed the problems I have had coming into the appointment and went above and beyond. I always leave feeling amazing and well taken care of - and the amount of services they provide from reflexology to acupuncture is so great to have especially under one roof. I HIGHLY

I met Bo last week for a last minute 30 massage on my neck. Our meeting was so pleasant and his work so good I rebooked for90 minutes.
His touch, knowledge and bedside manor are incredible. He is VERY knowledgeable and perfectly interactive in getting the best spots.
I highly recommend him, and I am very pinged how I prefer my deep tissue massage. I will continue to see him

I was excited to try out this place as the reviews look good and lots of people talk about it but my experience did not go as good as I thought it would. First off I booked an appointment by email so I wouldn't mess up what I wanted to get on the online booking and it still got messed up. I asked for a massage with cupping and a sauna, I ended up getting a steam room and just the massage no cupping. The steam room felt very not relaxing as the light is very bright, it's attached to the washroom that everyone uses, and it felt like it wasn't cleaned before I went in. Surprised the hubby with a relaxing massage for Father's Day and he loved every bit of it. Even came back home saying he'd go back! Planning the surprise appointment was great. Wife and I had an appointment today. Found somewhere for the kids to go, set aside some time. When we got there we were told the therapist that we were scheduled with didnt accept our insurance. No call or email to let us know. We used our insurance a week or two ago, so it was already on file. I know these things happen and I'm whining. But this was my experience. Plenty of options in Winnipeg. Sounds like most have had a good experience here. 🤷🏽♂️

I haven't had a massage in a long time and thought it was about time to treat myself to one. I searched online for affordable massage therapy places in Winnipeg and found Academy. It was the first time I was there. The facilities are clean. I love the fact that it's in a nice house (there are other houses joined to it with other businesses next door).
If you're looking for a very quiet and tranquil place, this wouldn't really be for you just because it is an older house like the other review has mentioned. I on the other hand don't mind as long as the job gets done and

It's located in a strip of adjoining houses that form a pseudo strip mall on Academy Road. I like that they're open 7 days a week and that they are open till 9 pm on weeknights. They have a lot of therapists there so I can usually get an appointment on the same day that I call.
I go with a different therapist every time, some are better than others. My definition of a great massage is someone who listens to my problems and then gives me a super deep tissue massage. The good ones really focus on the problem and give advice on what to after the treatment. I've had some great massages
