The Mahle house has been offering fine dining in Cedar since 1983. Situated in a restored Heritage House on a one-acre property featuring an English style garden. Our philosophy is simple, to serve flavorful, unique food in a welcoming environment with relaxed, professional service. B.C. residents are required to present their vaccine passport QR code for scanning and matching government photo I.D.
Take out options will be available from 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm Thursday to Sunday with pick up in the staff parking area. Other times will occasionally be available on a day to day basis.

Services
The Mahle House is a second generation establishment which has become a favorite for locals and tourists alike. It was established in 1983 by Chef Maureen Loucks and Delbert Horrocks (Tara's mother and uncle respectively). Located in the farming community of Cedar, ten minutes south of Nanaimo, The Mahle House is situated in a restored 1904 Heritage home on a one-acre property featuring an English-style ornamental garden.
We understand that many people are presently uncomfortable with dining out. We offer our take out menu at a reduced price in the hope that our guests can enjoy our creations in the comfort of their homes more often. We thank you for supporting local businesses and helping to keep your community working.
Every Wednesday at the Mahle House we offer our "Adventurous Wednesday" multi-course menu. Diners in groups of four or fewer will receive different items for each course (some duplication of items will occur with groups larger than four). We suggest calling for reservations. Please note that Wednesday evening is devoted exclusively to our five course Chef's menu - our regular menu is not available.
To provide our guests with the freshest organic ingredients, we are fortunate to have our own organic farm raising fruits, vegetables and herbs. The beginning of each planting season also gets the creative juices flowing with one or two experimental crops. What we can't grow or if we do not produce enough, we proudly purchase from like-minded local farms.
At the moment we are offering pick-up orders only for all our online products with the exception of our Gift Certificates for dining in-house. These are available for shipping. All other shop items are pickup at the restaurant. Once we receive your order we will contact you regarding pickup times and procedures.

The Mahle House is an absolute favourite restaurant of ours! Although we don’t dine there often, our experiences have always been amazing. Adventure Dining Wednesday is a yearly birthday request, no matter what day my birthday falls on. The service is impeccable and the food is always devine. The five course surprise dining experience always leaves us stuffed and reminiscing for days about our experience. This restaurant truly is a gastronomical wow! A year has passed and my assessment of this restaurant has changed entirely.
What was once an unvarying, lackluster menu has become a set of surprising and delightful offerings. The service too has become significantly better. Finally, the dishes themselves are prepared carefully and beautifully.
If you've been a tad disappointed with Mahle House before, it's time to give it another wholehearted try!

Recently enjoyed a flawless birthday celebration dinner at The Mahle House in Cedar! It was outstanding! The ambience, level of service, presentation and quality of food more than met all expectations, and we enjoyed this meal as much as we have on the previous occasions we’ve eaten there! The Mahle House encompasses the very best of fine dining in the Nanaimo/Cedar area…in fact I can think of nowhere comparable to eat when you’re looking for something special!

We celebrated our 5 year anniversary at Mahle House on Saturday, and it was a memorable night. We were warmly greeted, and were instantly impressed by the energy in the restaurant. It seemed like the staff and guests were all having a good time, and we appreciated how intimate and beautiful the dining room was. Marisol was fabulous and made great menu suggestions. The calamari was a standout for us, as was the peanut butter pie. We couldn't have picked a better spot to celebrate. Also, shoutout to the generous couple at the table next to us. Your gesture was so sweet and appreciated. Thank you

Another amazing experience!! 18 people for our son and daughter in laws rehearsal dinner and Tara and Stephen and staff, did an absolutely fabulous job. From the personalized menu, the amazing food, 2 of our favorite servers. Just another wow experience. Thank you for making the kids evening so special. This is the best restaurant on the Island!!!

Always a special place to experience incredible food in a lovely atmosphere. Went for the Wednesday "Adventure in Dining" 5-course meal. It was exceptional.
We were served by Craig, who was very welcoming and had a great sense of humor.
Highly recommend this local jewel of a restaurant of you are looking for something special. 5 stars.

May 9, 2020 - tried the family takeout meal and it was fabulous. Lots to eat and we'll prepared. We missed the ambiance - but a great covid 19 option for one of life's special occasions. Thank-you! 😄

The food is always exceptional and the porcupine prawns are worth the trip on their own!
