Sourcing of goods, raw materials and supporting activities reveals a lot about the company's ethos. For a coffee roaster, the sourcing of green beans is of the utmost importance as it will be the invisible force behind flavor and consistency. It also can have an important impact on the well being of people involved in the production of coffee at the origin.
As roasters we cannot add flavor or quality to the coffee, our job is carefully roast the beans to find the right spot to highlight the beans potential flavors to showcase the producer's hard work. All what we have learned through many hours of roasting the same beans with a playful scientific approach is to preserve the quality achieved on the farming and processing stage.
Firebat Coffee Roasters started officially roasting coffee in Canada late 2016, inspired by a long process of discovery. Why are some coffees so radically different than others? Why are there so many social and environmental issues connected to growing coffee? Why does it seem that there is always a financial crisis in coffee?
We enjoy working directly with a dedicated and outstanding team of coffee producers who care for the well-being of the people and nature by producing shade-grown coffee. I was looking for a new go to shot of diesel to get myself going in the morning. Started talking to one of the associates at Firebat Coffee. Watson made some great recommendations for some daily go to coffees as well as another more "unique" coffee to sample. Over all was a great experience and I will definitely be ordering more to BC!

Your coffee has gotten my husband and I through our first months of parenthood. I have always enjoyed your coffee but my husband wasn't as much of a coffee drinker. I send him off to work everyday with a travel mug of your coffee.

We have fallen in love...... we tried this coffee from a small grocery store in Dundas Ontario, cute packaging, fun description, interested in the region. All we can say is WOW! This is a must try coffee, we have shared with our family and friends (virtually) this will be our first sips together once we can see each other again face to face. Thank you for this wonderful taste and amazing work that you do.

I've been getting my coffee solely from Firebat ever since I discovered them at a local farmers market a few years ago. Although all of the coffee comes from one country, that does not mean that there is a lack of variety. There are always different farms, different beans (cultivars) and different processing methods to choose from. On top of that, Gustavo is very knowledgeable in his craft as a roaster and an expert in coffee in general. And the icing on the cake is that he and his wife are very friendly and welcoming.

I first came across Gustavo and his wife at a trade show in Hamilton, and I was blown away by taste of their coffee beans. Now this is definitely my top choice for coffee - I've used an espresso machine at home most days for 6 months now, and I was just amazed at the difference between these beans and everything else. The taste and creaminess is completely unmatched. I also love how they work so closely with the growers in El Salvador, and they focus so strongly on high quality, organically grown beans. Highly recommended!
