This is the last of three blogs I have written for Pet Dental Awareness Month. This one is about professional dental care and will hopefully provide you with a better understanding of what happens when your pet is admitted into the hospital for a dental procedure and most importantly why we do it what we do!
The Royal York Animal Hospital has been serving the veterinary needs of this community for over 25 years. We understand and share in your compassion for animals, and it is our goal to provide the highest standards of veterinary medical care available.
For this reason we sought additional accreditation through the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) to help ensure that our veterinary practice is operating at the highest level of standards in pet care.Additionally, Royal York Animal Hospital is also a certified Cat Friendly Practice. We want you and your pet to be comfortable with our veterinary care, facilities, and business procedures.

Microchipping has become a very popular and safe way to permanently identify your pet in the unfortunate case that your pet is lost. Microchipping involves placement of a small electronic chip the size and shape of a grain of rice. It is injected via a needle just under the skin at the back of the neck and shoulder blade area.
Royal York Animal Hospital doctors are learning new and interesting things all the time at national and international conferences, courses, seminars, and the like. It gives us a chance to hear from experts in the field and to connect with and learn from our colleagues around the world.
In March, I joined about 50 veterinarians from across Canada in Kansas USA for a workshop on nutrition that focussed on the role food plays in preventive care and disease management, the challenge of having so many commercial pet foods on the market that make unsubstantiated or misleading claims, and the latest developments in prescription diets at Hill's Pet Nutrition.RYAH shares Hill's philosophy that pet nutrition is the cornerstone of health.

The groomer then does a rough trim and shaping of the coat - or if required this is the stage that they would be shaved down. This is followed by a pedicure (nail trim) and a ear cleaning. Then it is bath time! The massage that goes along with the shampooing feels wonderful. If needed your dog will have their anal glands externally expressed while they are in the tub.

I cannot reccomend this place to enough people in person so I've taken to Google reviews to do it. They make regular check ups and little issues so easy to deal with. Everyone on staff takes the time to address the baby questions we have. And when it's an emergency/bigger issues there is no where else I would rather take my dogs. Dr Allen is a godsent. My dog was in bad shape because of a herniated disk in his neck. Dr. Allen helped get us keep him comfortable, connected us to a neurologist and got him to expedite the appointment as my boy was in extreme pain.He made it a point to personally call

Since 09/2020, Dr Allen has helped us care for three of our cats. Compassionate and reassuring, we especially appreciated Dr Allen's expertise and comfort during and following the difficult diagnosis of an aggressive cancer in one of our cats. During Covid, we were allowed to be present for our beautiful black cat's final moments, and couldn't have had a more caring and soothing vet than Dr Allen. I have also been grateful for the entire team's kindness while we have we sat in our car (during Covid) -- the joy with which our pets were received and returned to us was so appreciated. Although we

My family has been going to Royal York for probably 10+ years. They have always shown nothing but the utmost compassion, care, and joy in what they do. When getting my new puppy, there was no question as to where I was going to take him. I would recommend Royal York to anyone and everyone. We don't know what we'd do without them.

The people working here are incredibly nice and helpful. I’ve only had a few phone interactions but was given enough info to make some decisions for my dog. They also have a grooming service which is amazing - convenient and they do a great job. It’s actually probably the best groom my dog has ever received. They are on the pricier side but I suppose it’s best not to cheap out when it comes to pet health for certain things.

My boy kept going to the bathroom every minute, with 2 cats it was hard to tell who went pee at night so we got very concerned that he was blocked. We called at 8 am and got taken in at 10 am as the vet was also concerned. Unfortunately, the tests showed stones and surgery was the best option for him. I want to say that the hospital took care of him so well
Admin: thank you for seeing the urgency in my phone call about my baby boy and booking us asap. Thank you for being able to move around follow up appointments to meet our schedule. And always being friendly when answering any of our questions

Dr. Allen is great! We first ended up here when our dog was bit in doggie daycare. We needed stitches for our pup fast! They accommodated us within 15 minutes and our girl was stitched up in no time. We just brought her back for an annual check up/vaccines, and with COVID protocols in mind they were very organized.
Dr. Allen knows what he’s doing, is calm and confident. I knew our anxious and large Great Dane was in good hands. They had her out within 15 minutes, and had managed to give vaccines, take blood and do a general check up. Would highly recommend this clinic and definitely this doctor

Yesterday morning I rushed my Retriever to the incredible people at Royal York. I thought she had had a stroke, and was prepared to say goodbye.
The girls came out and carried Abby into the clinic, and I was lucky enough to have Dr. Jackubowski as our veterinarian. When she called she was so kind, and gave me her findings, and a plan to help my dog.
Abby is home today, resting and I am so thankful that this team exists.
Thankyou so much to everyone,
Tammy

Royal York Animal Hospital was always very helpful and caring to my cat who was diagnosed with Diabetes in 2015. It's been a long road, but because of their care he survived pancreatitis in 2016 and 2017, with a great recommendation to bring him to the Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital who were able to help him through these two bouts of pancreatitis.
Unfortunately, recently, my cat Noodles passed away in May 2019, due to an enlarged heart. He had a lot of issues along with his Diabetes he also had some heart trouble and terrible anxiety. He was always afraid of everything, especially

We've been clients of Royal York Animal Hospital for over 30 years. Our cats and now our dog have always received great care from vets and techs (with special mention to Lucy's favourite - Alyssa). Office staff are capable and always helpful. Being open every day with evening hours is reassuring that care will be there if we need it. Being an accredited practice adds to our confidence that RYAH is the best place to look after our pets.
