I learned about Viva Java a few months ago and have been buying their fresh-roasted 5-bean blend to make my morning coffee ever since. Yesterday, my supply ran out and I had to think about whether to spend the better part of an hour driving to Viva Java and back or buy a bag of Starbucks Special Reserve Guatemala coffee. I happened to be near a Starbucks that had just brewed the Guatemala coffee, so I ordered a small cup to taste. Lucky for me I did. The Starbucks coffee was nowhere near as good as Viva Java's. I took a few sips and threw the rest away. And this morning, I made the drive to Viva

Fantastic coffee! Such a treat to see someone doing the absolute best they can to make an excellent product, and the results are outstanding. We went 3 times in the two days we were in the area.

They brew freshly roasted coffee, they are so tasty!! I love buying a morning coffee, it wakes me up with nice smell of coffee!

This coffee joint is unique in its own culture, and I am always fascinated by Italian coffee. That's why I give it 5 stars, because don't expect it as the Canadian/American style coffee shop you know. This is an authentic European coffee shop, take it or leave it, love it or hate it kind of shop. Arturo is funny when you get his sense of humour!! But I love him! By far the best coffee I have had in Vancouver, in British Columbia, in Canada.
The expresso shots are flavourful and linger pleasantly on your tongue and taste buds.
The roasted coffee beans are expensive and worth every ounce.
Pick up the roasted peanuts with garlic, wonderful as a side snack.
Hot chocolate great, latte wonderful, cappuccino delightful!
Bring cash or e-transfer.

My car is on a maintenance service around this area. And heard this coffee shop is the best (knowing EVERYWHERE is closed)

Best coffee I have ever had. I live near UBC, but come out to Viva Java for the amazing Americano every chance I get. It's the richest, most flavourful cup of coffee I've tasted. The owner is very friendly, and even gave me some free roasted peanuts after I tipped him 2 bucks! Cash only, so bring your bills. It's also probably a good idea to buy beans here, but a single cup is worth your while, and you can wander around the quaint but vanishing neighbourhood of Bridgeport while you sip ... highly recommended.

The owner is sure a character. He is funny about rough around the edges but passionate about his product. I highly recommend the coffee. It's amazing

Owner is a lunatic. He kicked me out for asking questions about the differences between his three dark roasts. He didn't want to answer any of my questions and started yelling and swearing at me just for trying to get an idea of which dark roast bean I should go home with.

At $25/lb and a short-tempered, sensitive egomaniac behind the counter, pretty sure it's just not worth it.

He roasts the coffee in house and you can stay for a cup of joe. A relatively unheated space with a heater and a fireplace, big open window for nice days. Roaster is right in view and you can watch him roast and ask questions about the process! Beans are available in half pound and one pound sizes, he's also got candy and biscotti from MonteCristo Bakery. This shop is full of niknacks and coffee culture, with a cool screen with European-style chill jazz and great ambient music videos playing! We're regulars. My dad won't drink any other coffee 🤣😂❤️☀️

So glad to have found this gem and gotten "a real latte" for a change! Nice and hot, and a good size. If you're looking for a cafe with real character and soul, look no further.

What a great coffee house... a hidden gem in Richmond, just around the corner from Costco. It smells M-A-R-V-E-L-L-O-U-S as you approach since Arti roasts the coffee beans on premises.

Best coffee beans I was able to find in this town. Artie, with his long experience in roasting, knows how to make great coffee beans.
Don't offend him asking to add sweet syrup or other stuff in a coffee.

Saw this reviewed on the front page of yelp on May 22nd and decided to give this place a go. It's for sure a coffee house with a unique personality. A nice change from all the other hipster places that I've been to.

This was a suggested place by another Yelper for my100 coffee shops in 52 weeks challenge.

This cafe is close to Bridgeport station on the Canada Line and is only a 10 minute walk from the station.

They operate regular business hours during the day, therefore, it was a little bit of a challenge to get here during the regular 9 - 5 pm. They are open on Saturday's but

If you're tired of the regular coffee shops brewing their stale foil pouched coffee.

If you want a real cup of espresso, a real Americano, or if you're looking for the best Mocha Cafe in BC get out of the mall, leave Main Street, and try Viva Java. You will not be disappointed. He doesn't sell disappointment, only excellent espresso based drinks and the freshest roasted beans from all over the world.

Mild, medium, or strong - its the only decision you have to make. Leave the rest to BC's only master roaster.

From the moment you park and smell the coffee from the other end of the lot, to walking in and getting afreshly brewed cup of coffee, to the first sip... It's AMAZING! So just head over there now b/c I promise you won't be disappointed.
