Orthodontics is the science of gently moving teeth and jaws that are misaligned. As orthodontists, Dr. Loo and Dr. Yen work to diagnose, prevent and correct misaligned teeth and jaws. Conditions commonly treated with orthodontics, include crowded teeth, overbites, underbites and spacing (gaps between teeth).
Dr. Loo and Dr. Yen use a variety of orthodontic appliances to gently move teeth into the correct position. Today, there are many options for treatment including traditional metal braces, clear braces, Invisalign, and clear and metal retainers. Treatment depends on each patient's particular case, and typically takes between 1-3 years to complete.
Dr. Loo and Dr. Yen recommend that children have their first orthodontic appointment when they turn 7 years old. By then, their first adult teeth have come through and can be evaluated for any irregular teeth and jaw concerns like cross bites, under bites, and crowding. Treatment of children is best done in two phases.
Improve your personal appearance, self-esteem and the health of your teeth and gums through orthodontic treatment. Correcting misaligned teeth and jaws, which not only improves your appearance, but can also prevent gum disease, bone loss, tooth decay, wear of the tooth enamel and surfaces, headaches and jaw joint pain.
Corrective jaw surgery, known as orthognathic surgery, corrects conditions of the face and jaw that cannot easily be treated with braces. In addition to affecting your facial appearance, jaw problems may affect your ability to chew, speak, and breathe. In growing children, Dr. Loo and Dr. Yen can often use orthodontic appliances (headgear or facemask) to direct jaw and bone growth, which may eliminate the need for surgery in some patients.

After consulting with so many specialist in Vancouver, we feel so humbled that Dr. Loo is having our child as a patient. Dr. Loo is the one you want your child’s being cared for by, extensive experience in complicated cases, impeccable approach, perfect relating of situation to the child & parent. We feel the understanding and respect along with her expertise. We have been recommended by Dr. Loo to the best surgeon and team too who have been able to help our child getting the treatment needed in record time despite a lot of set backs with other specialists. We are very impressed, and so relieved

I've been a patient of Dr. Loo since 1998 or 1999. I needed braces due to an accident as a child. I avoided smiling with my mouth open because I was so embarrassed about my teeth.
Our family friend recommended Dr. Loo because she had braces done and was so impressed with the quality and care (from the front desk, staff and Dr. Loo).
My brother had his braces done elsewhere. At the end of the day, my mom even commented that she wish she had spent the extra $1000 and sent my brother to Dr. Loo. She said it was clear the quality of work and expertise was worth the extra money she spent. I
