Hardy, as he is affectionately known by friends, grew up in Ilford (part of Greater London), Essex in England. Hardy attended the University of Glasgow and Glasgow Dental Hospital and School in Scotland, graduating with his BDS in 1995 (this, to some extent, explains his "accent").
After attending an externship in Hong Kong in 1994, he published a paper in The British Journal of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery in 1996 on asymptomatic impacted wisdom teeth.After visiting family in Vancouver in 1988, he fell in love with Canada and became determined to one day work here. This goal was ultimately fulfilled after gaining his DMD at UBC Dental School in 2001.

At Smiling Creek Dental, we offer a full range of General and Preventative Dentistry, and also implants, smile design make-overs, invisalign and orthodontics. I've been going to this office since the days of Dr. Friesen (25 years) and I've seen Dr. Bhatta since he first started at Smiling Creek, so this review is long overdue. Dr. Bhatta and his staff are incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, friendly and kind. The office is immaculately clean and I'm regularly impressed with the latest and greatest advances in dental technology to help make my visits be more comfortable and knowing that I'm getting the best dental treatment. I love that there is always music playing with Karen humming while she works away! Also, they are wonderful supporters for many community

Dr. Bhatta is a very adorable person. He is a great dentist as well. Our family has been his client for more than 13 years now. Once he saved my tooth by putting a filling; otherwise it would need a crown. 8 years passed and there has not been any problem with this tooth. He did a lot more for me and family.

I came to Smiling Creek after a bad experience with another dental office and my situation was extremely time sensitive.
I was trying to get a few things addressed before losing my insurance, and my previous office made mistake after mistake and wasted a lot of the precious time I had left. I needed my problems addressed fast, as I was running out of time.
The team at Smiling Creek was very friendly, fast and efficient, they got my estimates run by my insurance company right away (while for some reason it took my previous office months to get me an answer!). They got me scheduled for a checkup

I was very late during today’s first visit but the dental team was understanding and still accommodated me despite delay. They were warm and very efficient. The office is clean and welcoming. Dr. Bhatta and the Dental Assistant Kira displayed great professionalism and keen in listening to my concerns. They were throrough and informative; explained every single steps they had to do including fees to be incur and goals to achieve high standard oral care. I’m so pleased I read reviews about this clinic and it was a great decision that I chose Smiling Creek Dental.

I have been visiting this office for about 35 years--ever since I was a small child and Dr. Friesen was the kind and very capable dentist there. Dr. Bhatta has owned the practice for some years, now. He is genuinely kind, caring, and smart. He always makes me feel more cheerful when I visit! I had my first visit with the newest dental hygienist--Hannah--today, and she was knowledgeable, cheerful, and very good at moving around my teeth without causing any discomfort at all. I have been a patient at Smiling Creek Dental for the past 9 years. In that time I have found the staff to be professional, personable and skilled at all levels of dentistry. Dr. Bhatta in particular always goes to great effort in making sure I completely understand a procedure and is comfortable with it prior to beginning. His attention to detail is exemplary whether you are in for a routine procedure or something more challenging. I strongly recommend this practice to anyone looking for good dental care.
