You know what you need to do to stay in shape: eat a well-balanced diet of fruits, vegetables and protein; exercise daily; and brush your teeth every morning and night. Just like you, your pet needs to follow a similar pattern to stay healthy. Your dog needs dental care. Your cat needs regular exercise.

And your rabbit might need a higher fibre diet. If it's a matter of your pet's health, consider taking them to experienced veterinarians. When you need to consult a trusted veterinarian in Toronto or Danforth, reach out to us at Kato Animal Hospital. We offer a wide range of services such as nutritional consultation, X-rays and dental check-ups.
Services
Kato Animal Hospital is a full-service animal hospital in Toronto, Ontario. From preventative care to diagnosis and treatment to end of life problems, we try to be part of your pet's well-being and care. We aim to exercise the highest quality of veterinary medicine for the patient. When your pet requires health care, you expect your veterinarian to treat your pet kindly and keep you informed on necessary procedures and prescriptions.
Pets require dedicated care and medical attention, and you can give it to them by opting for dependable and professional vets. We at Kato Animal Hospital offer a range of veterinary services in Toronto, including quality preventative health care.

From regular health assessments and routine vaccinations to nutritional advice and general dentistry, our services are meant to provide your furry friends with all the care they need to have a happy, healthy and long life. You can also entrust us with your pets when you are headed somewhere, and we will make sure they have a good time at our pet boarding.
Sometimes the best approach to your pet's good health includes a surgical procedure. At Kato Animal Hospital, we offer elective and non-elective surgeries. For both kinds of procedures, anaesthetics are closely monitored by a technician or veterinarian. Every patient is placed on an intravenous pump and monitored for changes in anaesthetic depth as well as vital signs and blood pressure.
One of the biggest challenges as a pet owner is to figure out what's wrong with your pet when they're not feeling quite right. With no way to express themselves, your furry baby may be having a hard time. An x-ray can help identify the root of the issue that your pet is going through. X-rays, including barium series, can be done on-site and are often done as part of a work-up for illness.
Dental hygiene is one of the most overlooked issues when it comes to pets. It is as important in dogs and cats as it is among humans. Most pet owners don't even notice any oral discomfort that their pet might be experiencing, which leads to further complications. You might think that your pet is happy and lives a life unbothered by dental concerns, but that is far from reality.

The team at Kato were quick and efficient when assisting with my dog. I genuinely felt like the staff cared vs other pet hospitals I have been to where it felt like they were pushing sales.

Dr. Kato is an exceptional vet! I can always trust her to give me the best medical advice for my dogs. She is always very reliable and responsive. I’ve had a couple emergencies with my dogs in the past few years, and she has always been there to help. 10/10 would recommend!

Very compassionate staff. I had to bring my old guy there to be put down because of his age and condition. The staff gave me lots of alone time with him before hand and I was able to stay with him the entire time. Everyone was great and helped make an awful situation a bit better.

We were originally referred to Dr. Kato for our 8 year old Boxer after issues with our previous vet because of her extensive experience with the Boxer breed. From our first interaction with Dr. Kato, her and her team have been absolutely incredible. She took the time to hear our concerns and answer our questions about course of treatment. Tiffany is such a pleasure and thorough, I’ve never seen our Boxer so comfortable and happy in a vets office. Sometimes as a pet owner, you feel like you are just another customer with vets but it is abundantly clear that Dr. Kato and her staff put the welfare

Fantastic vet all around but especially right now. Their safety procedures are fantastic for making sure there is no way to spread anything. Just pass off your dog, sit in your car, chat to the vet on the phone and then pop back in to pay and get your pet back. Really easy and very friendly staff who my dog loves.

My daddies have been taking me here since I was a puppy. The staff is very nice and helpful. Dr. Kato is very knowledgeable, understanding and very gentle with me. She gives good advices on what should and shouldn't do, and not selling products or to any unnecessary treatment. I am very happy with this place. Oh, they have cookies and liver treats to lure my attention before they give me a needle. Awesome! Cedric.

Amazing staff, Amazing doctor!
We moved far away from Kato Animal Hospital and tried 2 different clinics for simple thing like vaccinations but they do not come even close to how great the people at Kato are. My dogs get excited when they walk into the clinic! So now I travel one hour (by ttc) every time we have to visit the Vet's and I don't mind it a bit!
Thank you everyone at Kato's for the amazing care you have given my dogs for the last 8 years!

I do not personally use this animal hospital but I did call regarding my guinea pig. The lady who I spoke to was very helpful and kind. I love the fact that she was honest with me from the get-go stating that she was not a vet, but was still able to attend to me by giving me the number to another location that can help me. She was very welcoming, and attentive. I have called other locations in the area, and none were as helpful. If I ever do get a cat or dog I will definitely be coming here all due to customer service. I think her name was Tifany.

We've been taking our pets and my mom's dogs over the years to Dr Kato ( about 20 years). We've gone through ACL surgeries, cancer, dog with heart failure, and the usual check ups, shots and grooming throughout each pets' lives. Dr Kato never does anything without first discussing it with me, makes recommendations but doesn't up sell for the purpose of selling. Dr Kato and staff are compassionate, respectful, knowledgable. I wouldn't trust my dogs' care with anyone else. Dr Kato's the best.

My cat had cancer, and eventually had to be euthanized. I held

Just adding our voice to the list of excellent reviews because there hasn't been one since 2016. We've been taking our cats to see Dr Kato since 2011. The quality of care, the compassion and humanity, and the service, both front and back office, are all excellent, and as good as I've ever seen. In addition, prices are very good. You will not find a better vet for domestic animals in the area.

I searched everywhere for the right vet to take my dog to. Dr Kato is it. She’s the best vet I’ve ever been to. She actually takes the time to sit down and talk to you about your pets well being. Every time she sees my boy she sits on the ground at his level, plays with him, gives him treats, and talks to him.
She genuinely cares about his well being and mine too haha! This is my first pet ever and I’m definitely the over protective, way too worrisome pet owner and she eases my anxiety.
Her receptionist Blair is amazing. He’s always friendly to me and knows all of his stuff. If I have

My kitty's been dealing with a swollen, irritated eye for the past few days, and I decided to bring him in to see a vet and get him checked out. I'm new-ish to this area, so I just looked up the closest vet to me and found Kato Animal Hospital. Am I ever glad I did! I called at 9:30 in the morning, and Iroh was in to see a vet two hours later. He just has conjunctivitis, which will heal quickly with some eyedrops, but the care and helpfulness I received was fantastic. I was in and out in an hour, fully in-the-know about what was going on. Everyone was just great!

As anyone with a beloved pet will tell you, having to decide to put them down will be the HARDEST if not most painfully sad thing you will ever have to do. Having said that I need to commend Dr. Kato and her staff for their exceptional services handling our lovely sweet dog's final appointment.

From the day we called to book the appointment to our arrival, the staff did everything to facilitate and make the process as smooth as possible. As soon as we called to relay info of our dogs' deteriorating condition they booked her in RIGHT away, and as soon as we came to the clinic there was

I've been generally happy with the care my two cats have received at the Kato Animal Hospital. For straightforward annual checkups they are excellent and caring.

Recently my cat was diagnosed with diabetes. Although they have cared for him well, I am bothered by billing problems; the first time he was in for an all-day blood glucose curve, it cost $85, and the second time, it was $363. When I complained they offered to reverse about $65 of the second charge, but that is still a huge difference. (I found the invoices; the first had "fructosamine" for $45.50 and 2 "blood

I had to find a Vet. ASAP when my rabbit fell ill suddenly at age 9. He never saw a Vet. before. Danforth Animal Hospital couldn't see him until next week, so they recommended Kato Animal Hospital.

The staff provided me with an appt. the same morning, offered quality care, and an immediate diagnosis. Although, I didn't see the Head Veterinarian and it was my first visit, I was very satisfied with the care that I received. Rates were reasonable too.

I left knowing that my rabbit had a good life, was the happiest pet, and was well taken care of up until his death He didn&apos

Having recently moved into the area, and taking the reviews on this site to heart, I began taking my cats to the clinic in November. I'm extremely pleased with this facility, both as a client and as someone with years of experience working in a clinic. The staff are all very friendly and easygoing, and answer all my questions thoroughly. I've seen two vets, including Dr. Kato, and both were very good to my girls. Dr. Kato, in particular, is amazing: she had such a gentle touch with my abused rescue, who shows a lot of fear when placed in a carrier, let alone taken to a clinic. My

I've been taking my two canine companions to Kato for over a decade now. Christine Kato, the head vet, is great and seems to have a good sense for picking the junior vets who have worked with her over the years.

The vets and techs have been great with working with my two rescue pals, gently giving me advice over the years, and putting up with all kinds of doggie wierdnesses - and rewarding them with kisses with the wierdnesses noted in their files turn into wonderfulnesses.

The gals on the front desk are always helpful about scheduling appointments within the limits of their business hours
