Services
I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree, with a Joint Specialist in Political Science and Philosophy, from the University of Toronto in 2005. I attended the University of British Columbia for my Law degree, which I completed in 2008. I have successfully represented clients in BC Provincial Court, BC Supreme Court, and the BC Court of Appeal, on a wide variety of family law matters.
I was born and raised in Abbotsford, British Columbia and I received my undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia. I attended law school at the University of Alberta and received my LLB in 2008. I completed the Canadian Securities Course in 2008 and articled with a boutique securities firm in Vancouver.
2017 and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2018. During my time at the University of Victoria, I won the Pro Bono Students Canada "Most Deliverable" Award in the area of family law. My interest and passion for family law is deeply rooted in my own experiences, which allows me to be able to truly empathize and connect with my clients on a deeper level.
I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto in 2013, with a double major in Psychology and Philosophy. I attended the University of British Columbia for my Law degree and obtained my Juris Doctor in 2018. During law school, I worked for the Law Students' Legal Advice Program, appearing in Provincial Court in criminal matters, and operating the Carnegie Community Centre Clinic as Clinic Head.
I've worked with Michelle and Joe over the past decade. They are very knowledgeable and professional in all aspects of family law and their calm demeanour is much-appreciated during the often tumultuous divorce and custody process. Both are extremely practical and down-to-earth, and not looking to create more work than necessary.

Joe was both professional, and understanding during a very difficult and acrimonious divorce. Joe and his team helped me every step of the way. When I said I wanted an end to it all, he took it over and
managed to resolve it so that no one could ever use the court system to coerce and intimidate me again.
What I am grateful for is how Joe and his team went to work for me. I finally felt a huge sense of relief,

I hired Joe Broadhurst to help me resolve issues with parenting time and child support as well as a move to another province. He was excellent as was his team including Jenny Lin and Aman Gill. They were professional, responded in a timely manner to my questions, provided sage and sound legal advice, and kept me in the loop on the issues and process. I would like to highly recommend Michelle Kooy and her assistant Aman Gill. I felt very well represented by Michelle and Aman is totally on the ball. Their professionalism and attention to detail never faltered from beginning to end. I found Michelle mid way through my collaborative separation after my lawyer went on a sudden medical leave. During the often rough times of separation and divorce, Joe's calm professional attitude provided some much needed perspective and grounding. I have been lucky to have Joe as my lawyer for the past few years and was happy to follow him to his new firm to continue working with him.

Michelle Kooy is a brilliant and compassionate individual, understands family law inside/out, highly skilled and an absolutely fabulous negotiator in terms of “keeping things civil” (note: negotiation is what I do for a living, so I can attest to this). I can’t imagine any separation/divorce proceeding being anything less than emotionally draining, but Michelle kept me on point and “held my hand” throughout the process. The paperwork aside, Michelle advised me in terms of when I needed to speak up and when I needed to keep my mouth shut……if I opened my mouth anyway, she helped me
