Saltys Restaurant
Salty's Bar & Grill & Patio are about as close to the Halifax Harbour as it gets. Our casual atmosphere and waterfront location make Salty's a natural for gatherings during the day and well into the evening. If you desire something quieter then head upstairs to our restaurant, which offers a superb view of Halifax Harbour, and a great selection of local shellfish, fish, steak, lamb and chicken.
Services
Sail in for a drink and great conversation with old friends (and meet some new ones) at our solid oak bar lined with all of our favourite libations from around the globe. Salty's restaurant provides seating for 120 guests and one of the most spectacular views of Halifax Harbour that you will ever experience.

*Review based on Salty's Upstairs*

Seafood | Full Bar | Upstairs & Downstairs menu | Waterfront view

This is one of the many restaurants that was highly suggested in every tourist booklets, pamphlets and online referrals for good Halifax food.

This review is based on the Salty's upstairs menu (different from downstairs).

We had my birthday dinner upstairs with a reservation for 7pm (they close at 9pm).
They waited till mine and another table was leaving before they started packing up at about 9:37pm. They did not try to rush us or say anything to push us out of the restaurant

Nice view of the water. Wait staff was great! Lobster chowder and Halibut was a good choice.

After being recommended and advertised for Salty, the overall impression on the food was disappointing. The lobster chowder was bland and not creamy ...so really difficult to say I had chowder. The crabcake as reviewed and recommended by many yelp reviewers was again disappointing, as the food was mediocre at best. I was just not wowed by any of the dishes. I wonder if our expectations was just built too high? The service was really good though.

Very disappointing. The breaded shrimp was all fried, thick batter, needed a microscope to see the shrimp. About a tablespoon of potato salad as the vegetable. The so called blueberry grunt had a tiny amount of blueberries. Poor food, way overpriced.

I had the most tasteless pasta ever, with extremely over cooked shrimp and salmon at $37.99 for the plate! We ordered the bacon wrapped scallops which were so over cooked they were rubbery, the only good thing we had were our drinks. I could've made better seafood at home, I've never been so unimpressed! Especially since we paid a pretty penny for our meal, disgusting!

I eat out daily. You just can't beat the waterview atmosphere and fresh seafood combination. Ask to sit by a window or go early. I have eaten here many a time, with many guests. Its my seafood recommendation for Halifax visitors and they are never disappointed.

We order our food and wait for about 1 hour and no server come over and say anything to us, long weekend holiday we can totally understand,so we just wait patiently and didn't rush our server at all. And the server did't even ask us if we want to order any drink and just bring us ice water. But when we try the food it's really disappointed! The smoked salmon appetizer only comes with two slices of salmon and 6 thinly slices baguette, which doesn't worth the price. But the price for 2lbs steamed lobster is even more ridiculous, $89, even though the flavour of this is ok. Seafood

Well, we Love this place. probably the best place that our team has ever ventured to. I can tell you in short that ANYTHING YOU GET OFF THE MENU IS GREAT. The only gig was the bathroom, tidy it up one every 3 hours. It was a wreck. But we will head back once we get back to Nova.

Stopped at Salty's on the way to another restaurant. And I'm sure glad we did! We were seated immediately in a table right by the water. Soup of the day was Spicy Peanut (highly recommend)! We also ordered the garlic cheese bread, and the Seafood Casserole with haddock, shrimp, scallops, and topped with a basil cream sauce and finished with mashed potatoes and cheese. All together an extraordinary meal!

The food was okay. Ordered the seafood chowder and mussels. Wish the chowder was a bit hotter, however it was quite delicious. There was a variety of fresh seafood in it. The mussels dish was quiet small and the mussels itself were quiet small as well, and I even had a few that were bad!

What I did enjoy was the overlooking view onto the waters, very calming.

It's ok, service was great, ambiance sitting outside nice, crispy shrimp appetizer delicious!!! Son was not ready for the pepperoni pizza (i know, who orders a pizza at a seafood resturant??? A teenager from Kansas). Fish and chips delish. My hubby got the seafood casserole which he barely touched, he said it was really bland. The server took it off the bill without us even mentioning it!

Sister Sarah, Joey, Gord and I had lunch today at Salty's.

I ordered Panko Haddock (no veggies). I had it there two years ago and enjoyed it. It was delicious today and I ate it all. It didn't taste fishy.

Gord ordered crab cakes. He said they were really good and he'd get it again.

Sister Sarah ordered fish & chips. It was haddock and looked good. She said it was tasty and she'd get it all.

Joey ordered an Angus burger. He enjoyed it and said he would get it again.

Breanne was our server. She was nice and friendly and took good care of us.

Love this place right on the dock. One of my favorite seafood places in Town. Today we started with bacon wrapped scallops, oysters and mussels, followed by an epic dish of fettuccini with crab meat.
If you love seafood and are downtown, check this place out. Beware, food is addictive and service staff is amazing!!

Came here for lunch with my wife.

Prices seem okay tad on expensive.

Lobster roll 22.50, not much meat in the roll. Croissant roll. Mainly tasted mayo and lettuce.
1lb lobster 34.50 was good. Nothing special? Maybe it's because I'm from Toronto

That will fluctuate depending on the season. The staff is friendly.

My favorite waterfront patio in a sea of open air patios. There is enough ambient noise that they don't need music blaring.
The best conversation seating on the waterfront and the tourists are two blocks south. I am surrounded by 300 people and can hear my own thoughts. The prices are reasonable and the service is excellent. Their hot dip is perfect but do ask to add some lobster.

The servers here are trained very well. Koodo's to the manager and to our server Kendra!!

Sometimes there are times in which you want to take photos of your meal cause it was so awesome but you can't as you don't want to be seen as the ultimate geek because it's an important business dinner.

We came here for a big business dinner function with 21 people. Speaking with Lucas before and Patti on the evening we had discussed the menu to make it easier for our guests. They were friendly polite, sincere and helpful. Thank you we appreciated the excellent service and attention given to our group by the staff at Salty's.

For the food I decided to go with the Seafood
