I loved the breakfast steak with eggs and fries. Coffee is good too! Ambiance is good and cozy for Window tables. Though One small room for improvement, homemade fries are not that great, check the potatoes sacks regularly :)

Great experience, we got too excited and forgot to photograph the lobster but we ordered the lobster benedict as well as the lobster dinner.

Flavours were great all around and if you prefer unthickened chowder, this is the place for you!

We innocently came in close to their closing time but our server was great and we never felt rushed. Thank you for a great last food stop in our trip!

Chowder baaaaad. Taste like thick water.
Fish(haddock) & chips more like size 6 in-sole bathes in batter served with fries. Lobster is not fresh and the only good thing is probably the lemon.

Reliable, great food, friendly people, open great hours. You always have the trivia about the dime and the Bluenose for guests and visitors. It's just a great seafood "cafe/restaurant".
I strongly recommend the haddock tips.

Went here on a Friday evening for dinner after we realized we have not been here in a while, and a few other places down town could not accommodate without reservations. My son was instantly in love with the fact that he was getting a Kinder Surprise egg with his kids meal- in which he ate all of his Chicken Fingers n Fries and Ice cream for dessert! My mother and I had fish n chips- very good and plenty on food on the plate. The desserts were good- especially the Dulce de Luche cheesecake - next time I'm getting a milkshake! The service was super friendly and attentive. Will be back because

So this is the best bang for your buck in Halifax for seafood. This was our cheapest lobster deal in Halifax. Nothing to look at restaurant wise..pretty standard diner if not clean. The reason why it looses a star is for the service. Slow as mollases. Not sure why. Servers spent a lot of time talking to other servers and not actually serving. It seamed to be more of a trend out here.
However, food was good. We enjoyed our chowder, and the lobster was fine. My oldest took the salmon which she was happpy with. The real delight was the home made rice pudding. The staff were friendly but seemed

We stopped here on out roadtrip to Nova Scotia to enjoy some seafood ( Lobster ) to be precise.
This is so far the best seafood I ever had in my whole life. The taste, freshness and simplicity of food with old decor wooden feel of the place mixed with some drinks.
If you don't eat here, you will regret it.
Worth the wait.
Tip : Make sure to reserve this place and waiting can go very long sometimes.

As the first seafood stop of my Halifax foodventure, decided to get an order of mussels and the lobster roll.
Unlike the places on the boardwalk, this place is more like a diner - unpretentious, food focused, and overall just delicious.
Don’t expect any sort of fancy ambience while here, but do expect some solidly good food - lobster roll was fantastic (at least compared to Toronto). Might do a round 2 depending on how the week goes.

Great place! Got the Eggs Benedict, they were perfectly poached. Sauce was fantastic, this may have been the best Benny I've ever had?! Prices very worth it.
Service great, facilities clean. Nice cozy atmosphere.

Fresh and healthy lobster roll. Not much condiment was added. The cream soup with salmon was so thick which made me stuffed!

Gord and I had breakfast at Bluenose II Restaurant.

I ordered ham & eggs and Gord ordered fish cakes & eggs.

I liked my ham and eggs and would get it again. There were a lot of home fries!

Gord is a big fan of breakfast and said the fish cakes were okay.

Breakfast this morning in Halifax after a hellish evening getting out of Newark NJ, had a simple lobster eggs bennie and coffee to mark my arrival. Simple place, diner style, with great attentive service. A short walk for the Four Points and Hollis Hotel - definitely a good stop!

Ordered the pan fried haddock with extra veggies. Yum! Sauce was good and the portion size was pretty big for the price. Service was excellent! Waitress answered all our questions and took the orders for the kids first to ensure that they wouldn't have to wait long (given that they would be busy very soon). She even gave each child a kinder surprise egg!

Our Saturday night last resort since everywhere else seemed to be booked.
Restaurant wasn't too busy but the service was pretty lax .
The starter was a Caesar salad which was pretty much what you expected in a Caesar salad.
The main course was chicken fettuccine Alfredo with garlic bread on the side.
The Alfredo sauce was pretty runny and the garlic bread tasted like it was a regular piece of toast.
Not the most impressive meal you'd expect from a restaurant in the heart of Halifax.

Visiting Halifax for work and wanted some seafood. I was not disappointed, I ordered the clam chowder for a starter and then a two piece fish and chips (they also come in one or three piece). The entire meal was tasty and the portion sizes were generous at a reasonable price.

I should up at 530 in the afternoon on a Tuesday so the restaurant was not overly busy and was served right away. The waitress, Sarah was friendly and the atmosphere was inviting. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

As an added bonus, they don't use plastic straws instead they use paper ones.

We came here on a Thursday evening to try out their lobsters. We found ourselves practically with the restaurant to ourselves.

The wait staff were very prompt and extremely courteous. Once we put in our orders, the appetizers came out within 5 minutes. The lobsters came out shortly thereafter. It was all delicious. Absolutely fantastic food and not that heavy on the wallet.

Highly recommend if you're looking for some good seafood and quick service.

It was a quiet Sunday night in downtown Halifax and the streets were particularly empty. We chose the Bluenose II for a no-frills supper with friendly service and decent food - It's exactly what we got.

We ordered the lobster special ($29) which included a cup of chowder, a fresh boiled lobster and butter, potato salad, coleslaw, buns and a dessert (choice of rice pudding or vanilla ice cream).

It wasn't super fancy but we would not hesitate to come back again for another laid back meal.

In town for a conference and visited Bluenose II for a late lunch with some colleagues. Despite it being past lunch time, the place was packed full of people. The waitress we had seemed really overworked. She was very frazzled the entire time and ended up knocking over an entire Caesar all over the table. Of course she was friendly and replaced the drink, but I felt bad for whatever was going on that was keeping her so occupied.

I ordered the clams/scallops/shrimp/steak platter. It was not as good as it appeared on the menu, and definitely not worth the price. Everything was under seasoned and

If you're in it for the lobster and don't care to be hosed, then walk up the hill for an extra two blocks to the Bluenose II for your lobster. You can pay $58-$60 down at the wharf, OR you can pay $28 for a pound and a quarter lobster dinner (with a big of chowder, slaw, potato salad, drawn butter) that's fresh and delicious.
Do it! You won't be sorry...

We came here for dinner this evening. The server was quick and promptly took our drink and food orders.
We ordered Fish and Chips and Pan seared Haddock. The Fish and Chips came with thick cut fries, coleslaw, the usual tartar sauce and lemon wedges.
The pan seared Haddock came with choice of fries, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, or salad. I opted for thick cut fries. Steamed green beans, carrots, and parsnips. This also came with tartar sauce and lemon wedges.
Both fish dishes were fresh, tasty and very filling. There was no room for coffee and dessert.

This restaurant takes its name from a racing schooner, the Bluenose II.

The Blue Nosers on this corner serve the best clam chowder I've tasted in a while. Potatoes perfect, slightly al dente, with clams-a-plenty, lightly cooked, and just a touch of cream.

Also, recommend a BOWL of chowder, with a lobster roll or the club sandwich, which will be plenty for sharing.

One of the many seafood joints in the heart of Halifax. The lobster roll, while slightly pricey at $19, was of good value as the roll was large and filled with an abundance of fresh and tender lobster. There was crisp lettuce, green onions, and a simple seafood mayonnaise to accompany the lobster in the soft roll. One of the better lobster rolls I have had! The lobster roll was accompanied with a clam chowder that was nice and creamy, with lots of fresh clams. My only note was that the potatoes in the soup were quite firm and could have used additional cooking to be softened. The Bluenose Burger

Food: The meat of the lobster was succulent, I ate the majority of it without the melted butter. If I ever stop by Halifax in the future I will definitely come back.

Service and atmosphere: Bibs were provided. Casual, local establishment. The staff were sweet people.

Price: I believe it was $20 per lobster, was the cheapest we found.

Bridgette had pancakes with bacon. Delicious! At home (in New York) an order of pancakes is typically three, but at this diner you get four (4) big, fluffy pancakes! You won't leave hungry!

I had a ham & cheese omelette (made with three eggs) with whole wheat toast. Also delicious! The toast was thick, soft, and buttery.

The restaurant is clean.

Not too noisy despite the crowd.

They seem to be very popular for breakfast so expect to wait 15-20 minutes on the weekend.

Excellent service. Extremely friendly staff. Tasty food!! :-)
