I am a Master's Level Clinical Counsellor with 12 years experience in the counselling field. My work and expertise in Addictions comes from years of working in an Out Patient Addictions Clinic and Group based Day Programs, providing individual and group therapy.
Problem gambling is a recurring problem that we see here in our practice at Kuldip Counselling. In 2018 the University of Lethbridge conducted a study to determine the prevalence of gambling and problem gambling in Canada.
Their findings were as follows: approximately 0.60% of the population has a problem with gambling, or about 156,000 people across the provinces, and there are slightly higher rates in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, although the rates across provinces are similar.In addition to that number, another 2.7% of the population are considered "at-risk."
