Since 2000, the Danforth Veterinary Clinic has been an independently-owned and full service animal hospital that has been caring for companion animals in Toronto's east end (East York). Our main goal is to provide high quality medicine and compassionate care for our patients, while working closely with their owners to ensure affordability.
As an independent vet clinic, we can give more personalized and dedicated attention to our clients. All of our well-trained staff, from the veterinarian doctors, to receptionists, to technicians and animal care attendants, are animal lovers and owners ourselves and we know the special place our pets hold in the family.

Services
Dr. Au, the clinic's owner, grew up in Newfoundland and graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 1993. Upon graduation, she moved to Ontario and began practising at a small animal hospital in Mississauga for several years before coming to the Danforth Veterinary Clinic in 2000. Outside the clinic, Dr. Au's passion is photography and her favourite subject is her chihuahua, R.P.
Dental disease is one of the most commonly diagnosed diseases in companion animals and many owners think that their dog or cat's "bad breath" is perfectly normal as they age. This misconception is completely false and results in many pets not getting the medical attention and treatment that they require.
Digital X-Rays (radiographs) are an extremely important tool to aid in the diagnosis of many illnesses and injuries that our pets sustain. At the Danforth Veterinary Clinic, we only use brand-new digital x-ray technology, allowing us to capture the most clear and precise images possible. The radiographs are taken on-site and can usually be interpreted by the doctor immediately, giving us valuable information within minutes.
Ticks have become a growing problem in Ontario and are active once the temperature reaches just 4 degrees Celsius. Treatment for fleas and ticks always begin with prevention in mind. There are both oral and topical versions of protection and we recommend that you visit our clinic to discuss the numerous options available.
The Danforth Veterinary Clinic has a full pharmacy on-site, with a variety of medications available to treat your pet's illness or chronic condition. Once a diagnosis is reached, our doctors are able to immediately prescribe and dispense the appropriate medication. No need for long waits or trips to the pharmacy: your pet's medicine will conveniently be ready for you when you leave your appointment!

I took my cat to the DVC almost 2 years ago. I'm still very angry about my experience there. I had adopted an adult cat some months before and brought her in to have a few issues checked. I left with no solutions, a $70 tube of ointment my cat did not need and absolutely furious. I had to make another appointment for her at a new vet to get proper care for her.
First, she was biting at a couple of her nails and they had turned a sickly brown colour. DVC vet couldn't figure out which of her nails were the issue and told me multicoloured cats had different coloured nails. I think she mixed up nails

I was amazed that having been a client of the Danforth Vet Clinic for close to 10 years, they would not accept my cat in an emergency situation, but instead referred me to 2 other vets who were not accepting any new clients. I called on a Monday in need of immediate help and was told the earliest they could accept me was the Friday. I pleaded for them to see my cat, even for 10 minutes to give him medicine, and was turned away. I had to call over 6 different vets for anyone to accept my cat the same day. I was told repeatedly that vets are not accepting new clients during Covid, even the emergency

I absolutely LOVE Danforth Vet! And apparently so does my pup, as every time we go, his tail starts to wag like crazy and gets excited as soon as we step foot in the clinic. I’m a first time dog mom and have been going since my boy was just 6 weeks old, now almost 9 mo. Their team is amazing... the ladies that work at the front desk are always so friendly. Dr. Chung and Dr. Au are so caring, extremely patient and knowledgeable.

I'm so happy to have found this clinic several years ago. Dr Au is excellent, and she communicates clearly and with kindness -- even when I ask probably-silly questions. (I've seen other vets over the years who were...not so good at that.) And the rest of the team are amazing, too! Tabitha, Sara, and Victoria are always so welcoming and friendly.
