We were in Vancouver for a weekend trip and as me and my friend are from LA, we wanted to try local Korean cuisine. Sura was a short walk from our hotel, which was nice. We came around 6 PM and there was already a huge line. Luckily, there are lots of boba shops around so we put our names down, bought bobas (LOL), and just walked around. We waited around 35 minutes so it wasn't entirely too bad.
We ordered the dolsot bibim-bap, kimchi pancake, and spicy pork. My friend also got a galbi-tang, if I remember correctly. Everything was really good and came out quickly. We were pretty hungry when

The first thing the hostess said upon our arrival was "we no longer have the lunch specials". No hello or happy holidays. If you can read our minds then why don't you take the offering off the website? Or is this just part of whole bait and switch scam?
On a double digit subzero wintery windy day, the hostess insisted we sit near the drafty entrance door to give onlookers the impression there are customers in an otherwise empty restaurant. We refused, she insisted, we refused. Finally we were seated in a warmer spot.

Do not order glass noodle there as I terribly am disappointed with one that there was no any beef strip, spinach , any vegies except for some carrots.
Besides, it was too bland to eat unlike the famous typical Korean glass noodle. It was awful and the worst one I'd tasted before.
However, I highly recommend kimch jjigae & pork dish, jokbal which was SOOO GOOD. They are much better than my expectation.
The place closes 9:30pm. The waitress told us to pay earlier when we had not been even finished yet.
It was around 8:50.
We felt in such a rush to finish the dishes.
Besides, it was too bland to eat unlike the famous typical Korean glass noodle. It was awful and the worst one I'd tasted before.

Their bossam is the best dish here (although sometimes they give you mostly the fat-only pieces and hide them below the regular pieces so you can’t tell). the rest is just decent. but it’s pricey esp for some dishes where it’s not much (plain salad for $15??) it always fills up quick so we always go early before they open to get in line and have early dinner. galbijjim is good but not as good as in LA.

Food was great but service was not great. There was a long wait and it seemed like there were not enough servers. It took a long time for the servers to take our orders and when they did, they took down the wrong order and insisted them we told them the wrong dish and that we had to take it. The food tasted great but not worth the wait and the poor attitude we had to put up with.

We actually tried coming here before but the line-up was too long of a wait. Fortunately we came again during foul weather earlier this month (December 2021) & yay, we got a table without delay. Had to call the restaurant to let them someone know we were outside, as patrons are required to stay outside until a staff member came out to assist. I appreciate the covid protocol (they do check for vax i.ds).
Their great ratings do not lie - the food is comforting and delicious. Portions are good considering the cost. The decor is light

This place can get quite busy in the evening and the wait times can be long. Our friend brought us here during our stay in Vancouver and it's their favorite authentic Korean restaurant. The restaurant is beautiful inside, especially the seating in the middle. We ordered the pork bone soup (my usual go-to) and spicy beef squid bulgogi stew. The pork bone soup comes with a huge portion size with lots of meat. The flavor and spice level was quite mild despite asking for extra spicy. However the spicy beef squid was full of umami flavor. The kimchi and side dishes are also delicious!

Changed review after having delivery. Quality was terrible. Short rib was like a big dog bone with tough meat and sinu. Broth was like water and tasteless. NOTHING like what we are in restaurant. So disappointed ☹️

I am a big fan of sundubu jjigae. Theirs is good, but clearly short of BCD and SGD, restaurants that stake their livelihoods on tofu soup. Sura's is just flatter. Better sundubu jjigae is more complex, more dense, more intense.
Their bossam was great and improved the experience significantly. The pork was juicy, well done, and the paired components were flavorful and fresh.

Authentic Korean cuisine in a comfortable setting. The dishes hits the spot like a good home cooked meal. Flavours were a bit mild and underwhelming, but comes together cleanly. The side dishes however, were really good (probably best side dishes I've had at a korean restaurant).
The restaurant is busy, even right at opening. A line up of guests are already waiting in line before they open. Worth a visit if you are in the area and don't mind waiting.

We were encouraged by favorable reviews to come here for dinner and then to wait on line for 40 minutes for a table. The dinner was certainly passable but no better than the average Korean restaurant back in the DC area, such as Little Seoul in Annandale. Spicy pork was fine and my wife was OK with her usual, the seafood pancake. The banchan were underwhelming, although there was a pickled seaweed and lemon salad that as an unusual treat.

Not a good experience at all ! I went to this place to try the good food. Also, I’m a vegetarian so I asked if they can replace the beef with tofu. The waitress said « yes, absolutely ». Great, I took my food at home, I opened the box and : well, there’s meat. So I paid for a meal that I can’t eat. 👌😒

Good food, good prices and portions! Their soups come out piping hot and delicious. The quality and quantity of the meat in the soups is excellent and generous. The spicy beef soup was delicious. The mackerel was good but not amazing. The bibim bap was tasty after adding all the spicy red paste. However, if you don't like spicy, then the bibim bap will taste quite bland.
The service was good, and we liked that the tables are not so close to each other so it feels spacious.
