Shaughnessy Restaurant and VanDusen Botanical Garden have teamed up to offer 'A Taste of the Garden Series' this summer. You've used your senses to capture the sights, scents, textures and sounds of the Garden, but now, you can have a taste of it too! Chef Matthew Phillip will be creating dishes utilizing fresh ingredients from VanDusen's Veggie Garden.
From appetizers to desserts, produce, botanicals and herbs will be highlighted to inspire what local, urban, sustainable cuisine is all about. A rotating menu with featured seasonal dishes will be available all summer long. Shaughnessy Restaurant will be making a donation to the Vancouver Neighbourhood Food Network (VNFN) in exchange for the produce grown at VanDusen Botanical Garden.

The view is spectacular. The food is good. And the service is average to slightly above depending on who is serving you. I came here a few times, and the best experience we got was maybe the gentleman from Bali.
You can’t say the service is bad, only that it’s done, and to be honest, a couple of their servers are abrupt and maybe standard and monotone, but that’s not a crime. But hey, on the upside, they do have an amazing outdoor section.
Sadly, the reviews here are quite disheartening, there are many one star reviews and while I didn’t have nearly as horrible as an experience as they

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE
3.5 stars: it's tough competition at the upper end of the restaurant scene in Vancouver. Yes, there are the gardens with views from all seats, and the service is good, as is the food - but when other restaurants offer more (flavour, portion, etc.) at this price/level, then it puts Shaughnessy a little lower on your list of restaurant considerations.
=== 2. FOOD
Crispy Cauliflower ($17):
An appetizer with beet emulsion, spiced hummus, and goat cheese - nice (as long as you're OK with the fact it's deep-fried)!
Clam Chowder ($11):
Better value as an appetizer

I ordered the beef short rib pasta. It came with pickles in it but I thought I'd try it. My tables food came but my food didn't. 2 minutes later I was informed that they gave my food to someone else. They offered a clam chowder for the wait, I accepted and ate a very 'soupy' chowder. The food came and it was alright. Wouldn't order it again.
I was the designated driver so I drank their craft sodas from Phillips Brewing which was cool. Nice staff.

Giving 1 star cause the food was decent at this predominantly YT restaurant. Service on the other hand really needs to improve. The server, Francis hardly greeted us before telling us that we 'need to be out' by the end of the hour because he has a big party coming. You really felt the racism in the air . As we sat down, 3 middle-aged women at the table next to us loudly said, "are they really gonna sit next to us?". Barely 7 mins after we settled in, this group of women got up and moved to another table across the hall. The server came to us multiple times (within the span

Amazing ambience, great for larger groups, excellent lunch options and best of all, the service! We had a professional brunch here and it was the best venue to do so. The Benny was great and the salmon burger was delicious. If there is time, you can squeeze in a visit to the Van Dusen Gardens. Will be back again!

Recently got invited there by a friend and little did we know it was going to bring us a lot of memories!
First, we noticed happy hour was happening in Shaughnessy Restaurant! My friend and I arranged for us to drop by and whilst ordering, we noticed the waiter (Jeff) was very thoughtful and willing to help us out on orders. He suggested the most perfect drinks and dishes for us! My friend was so happy to give them a try with me; but not only was I impressed, so was she!
Our waiter (Jeff) noticed us struggling with our photos, so he actually took the time to take amazing shots of us! He is such

Went for our anniversary brunch. Lots of free parking in front but busy because it is shared with VanDusen Gardens.
The restaurant has a beautiful view of a pond in the gardens and you can people watch while you eat. Extended outdoor patio with heaters. Food is decent and service is acceptable. Coffee was terrible and was obviously not fresh.
Go back for the ambiance and not necessarily the food.

Such a wonderful place! The view was gorgeous. It was literally eating in the garden. The food was even better than the view! Truffle fries were super yummy. The chicken pot pie was full of yummy flavours. And, if you have VanDusen garden ticket, don’t forget to order your free dessert. It was sooo good!
The staff were super friendly, as well.

Beautiful atmosphere and patio seating. The steak was perfectly done and so is the calamari which is nice crispy. The rib need a bit more marinating as it was kind of bland. The service needs to be more attentive, especially if you want to be a fine dinning restaurant. Good restaurant, just need some improvement.

I would highly recommend dropping by this restaurant overlooking VanDusen, after your visit to the Garden. They are currently doing a promo, so if you have the ticket you can order a special menu. The space is lovely and the service is simple and friendly. Patio seats were popular, but we loved the seat by the windows. It looked like they used to hold many events and if I get a chance in the future, I would consider this venue.

Beautiful restaurant in a (or more accurately, by and overlooking a) botanical garden. The restaurant is nicely laid out, has great food, and offers nice service. Views are the best. I have this on my visit-again list for a fresh, crisp weather weekend brunch. Great also for a romantic date evening too even if you want to grab a drink only. The chicken was made very nicely, and falafels were great tasting. Patio siting was nice with heaters (both block heaters and ceiling ones). Inside siting is just as elegant but of course it was closed because of the pandemic.

The Shaughnessy Restaurant is located in Vancouver's Vandusen Botanical Garden. It is quite fancy and perfect for weddings as the Garden is right outside the restaurant.
My friend and I came in at a non-busy time. We ordered the same drinks and food from the special. We both ordered a fancy non-alcoholic drink, but mine had more colour in it, which meant that mine had more syrup than hers. She wasn't pleased about it, but she said it was ok. I'm sure that it was a one-off.
We both ordered the veggie lasagna. It was delicious with lots of flavours, but it was a lot for our small

The good: the service. They were like a well oiled machine. Prompt and never overbearing despite the place being fully booked.
The meh: my lamb. It was bitter and plain dry as if it was leftover from a month ago.
Cheesecake was a bit runny.
The place had nice Xmas deco and was a bit warm when it became full.
Maybe I ordered the wrong food.

My friend and I came in at around 7:45 pm and both ordered off of the 2019 Dineout Menu. The restaurant was practically empty, I think there were 5 tables seated including us. I had the Shrimp, Lamb, and Cheesecake. Both me and my friend had the deep fried shrimp and both of our dishes were raw. We sent it back immediately and were extremely disappointed with it. For the main, my lamb was garnished messily, and was overcooked. The presentation wasn't appealing at all, and the flavour was mediocre. My friend had the albacore tuna which was also overcooked (it was pretty much just cooked tuna

Shaughnessy advertises itself as fine dining, but nothing during my experience here in September warranted this or illustrated this at all. I wavered between a 2 or a 3 and settled on a 2 for an overall rating. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant to anyone nor would I care to return.
Came in for lunch after going through the Van Dusen gardens. The host staff told the two of us we'd be seated in 45 minutes, then another person approached us and offered to seat us right away while there were others ahead of us. I pointed this out, saying they should go first. The two hosts talked

My mom recommended Shaughnessy restaurant for brunch last Sunday. From what I remember the food and service wasn't good enough for me to return at all.
Our rsvn at 12.15 and we arrived at 12ish, the manger/owner told us we're too early and they're extremely busy. Therefore, we have to wait for our table till 12.15. Really?? We arrived only 10-12 mins early and I saw there are few tables empty in the dining room.
Anyway, we got seated after 12.15 but waited for another 10 mins to get coffee and order.
Complimentary Blue berry scone, it was good.
Chicken Pot Pie - It's bland
