It was really good. Drinks, food and dessert for the most part were all fantastic. Gorgeous decor and look of the place. Love the books!!! The only thing I would suggest is to get rid of the Notch8 bread. Not an appie that should be served at a fine dining establishment. Leave that type of stuffed bun to Cobs. Everything else was very good!!

Had a lovely Boxing day High tea here.
The tiers were so beautiful. The scones were amazing. The only downside was the sandwiches were slightly dry like they had been prepared too far in advance.
Cute reindeer macarons and snowball snowmen.
Lots of nice choices of teas in traditional silver tea pots. Friendly, courteous service.

I have been wanting to try Notch8 for over a year now as I always pass by it on the way to work. Since it was Dine Out and also my birthday weekend, I figured it was the perfect time to check it out. I tried to book online but it required a $50 CC deposit to secure the reservation. Instead, I called and made the reservation over the phone which didn't require a CC on file. I mentioned it was my birthday and that I would like to be sat near the live music if possible.
Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and also sat promptly by the hostess. The restaurant decor was lovely and had a nice atmosphere

My friends and I went here for dinner and the food was amazing! Not terribly expensive, either, which was awesome. The service could have been better but overall a great experience. I definitely recommend their Grilled BC Striploin Streak or the slow roasted prime rib. Also had some fries and roasted local cod, they were great. The cod has a subtle flavouring to it but the steak was definitely top-notch. Also enjoyed some pina coladas!
We also went for breakfast and got the Brioche French toast. Wow. So good! The varanasi ed banana really topped off the two slices of brioche french toast with

For the price of an afternoon tea at Notch8, and its location at the Fairmont, our overall experience was very mediocre.
Ambience: because it's in a lower level, it's a dimmed area. Good for romantic and other social events, but not so ideal for guests and foodies who prefer to take photos. Lights that are on sit directly above the table, so if you want photos of the tiered foods, the bottom and middle tier will not be well lit. Tea set was clean and nice. Our table, however, was wobbly, so they should definitely get those small details fixed for a better experience.

Itโs the Fairmont of course, however the restaurant itself needs improvement ( itโs been renovated lately).I prefer the old floor plan. The lighting is too bright ( deemed little bit will be a plus) the price is too high compare to other well established places. $20 for a glass oh house wine!!! $10 for domestic beer!!! The charcuterie plate ($30) looks like from Union Gospel shelter kitchen. This restaurant needs a shake-up & wake-up call. New management /kitchen chef will be a start.

We loved it here! The service was amazing! The high tea tower was really filling and full of amazing little portions of food. The tea was super and there was non stop hot water to keep enjoying your very own pot of your choice of tea. If you want a high tea experience, it's a great spot. It's pricy, but your paying for quality, great service and ambiance. I would go back again for a special occasion.
