I am here to help you and your family feel connected to your Self again, and love all parts of you. Please note: During the lockdown I offer sessions online by Video link, unless there are extenuating circumstances. My name is Maya Sloan. I am a counselling therapist and speech-language pathologist in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

I chose the business name, Body Speech Mind Therapy, to reflect that I work both in the areas of psychology and communication. This name also indicates my interest in self-awareness practices. My special focus is mindfulness-focused counselling through Internal Family Systems Therapy. I am therapist who enjoys working with people through the life span.
Services
In my life, I have always strived for wellbeing and growth. I started meditating in my teens in my native Germany, discovering early on the grounded presence mindfulness creates. These early experiences sparked my interest in change and personal growth.

Initially, I decided to study speech-language therapy in my early 20s, as it seemed to offer a great practical training to become an effective therapist, with its emphasis on practice and supervision.After a few years as a generalist, I moved to England to take a Master's Degree in Human Communication (part speech-language, part psychology).
I offer play therapy, counselling, therapy for people who stutter, dyslexia therapy and speech therapy for children. The charge is $120 per session. I am located in the West End of Halifax, close to Flinn Park and the Halifax Shopping Centre. Check out the Contact page for further details. However, right now in this crisis you can find me anywhere where there is an internet connection and a device!
My view of counselling is that it is for everybody and that there is no stigma attached. It is an exploration of how you tick. Through this journey, you can uncover and transform unhelpful patterns. You can learn to respond rather than react defensively. Having a therapist means that your mind has an external ally who you can explore with.
Life is a journey and which involves growth in ourselves and also with our partner. That is the ideal scenario. But often, we feel stuck in our relationship, and it is tricky to release the frozen patterns. It would seem easier, despite all the financial difficulties and the hassle, to separate. But wouldn't the same patterns arise again, if we go into a new relationship?
I am very excited to be able to offer this groundbreaking auditory training that helps build the social engagement system that is part of the pre-frontal cortex, helps with emotional regulation, social skills, human connection, a safe emotional state. It works for everyone who is easily triggered, children and adults alike.
