In the "olden days, " there weren't many options for working out. But Joe Gold, our founder, had a passion for bodybuilding. He found success as a professional "muscleman" and toured with celebrities. Out of necessity, he built much of his own training equipment. He would go on to launch an international fitness brand while becoming known as the father of bodybuilding.

I prepaid 2 years in advance as of December 2019. That means I only went for 3 months before the gym shut down to Covid.
I tried contacting the gym to find out about refunds or when they will reopen, but the phone just rings and no one answers. So I emailed Oxnard world gym - and got no response. Finally, I called world gym corporate and was....drumroll please...told that the only way to discuss getting a refund was to contact Oxnard world gym. Wow, hadn't thought of that! So glad there's a corporate number to help me with nothing.
I then tried disputing the charge (partial charge

AVOID THIS GYM!
I canceled my membership last June due to moving for military orders. They owe me money and they are impossible to get in touch with. They also continued to charge me after I canceled, so I had to contact my bank to put a stop payment on them. They owe several people that I know money and I have a feeling they will be seeing lawsuits from this. Especially after reading the reviews. Not to mention the lack of communication to the members and even the staff.

This gym is really poor on communication they owe people so much money as well as they do to me. It's been half a year. I can't believe how a gym can take advantage of so many people without feeling guilty or giving people their money back. I saw a review on how the gym wasn't giving people their money back just so they don't go bankrupt is absolutely hysterical. This gym is the worst. People work for their money and may even struggle to get the amount of money they have taken. The fact that the gym was closed and people couldn't workout and make the money worth is absolutely

Don't get scammed like I did lol.
This gym deserves a 1 rating, I've been waiting for my 300$ they owe me which is something I get every 2 weeks on a minimum wage job. It's been half a year and still haven't received anything or any updates about when I'd get my money. I understand the whole COVID happened but charging us while it wasn't open is unprofessional and well as not giving people their money back. But if it was the other way around you guys call me taking about it'll effect my score credit and what not. I have gotten to the gym many times and the only

This gym closes out of no where saying it was because of covid and has yet to give members an update. They still owe people from the months of service they charged them during the first shut down. How do you not tell your members if you are closing down permanently? If you drive by the gym it's completely gutted and the old sales manager frank has given all of our numbers to a different gym. An update would be nice as other gyms are currently opened and some of us would like to move on with another gym....

TRUST ME: please don't waste your money. Nothing against the other employees, but the management here is the worst. Get a membership elsewhere; they will try to take your money. I tried cancelling my membership a week ago and still haven't heard back. Called in and emailed multiple times as well- and still, nothing. Trust me, invest your money elsewhere. Wondering how long they'll try to stretch this out based on other past reviews.

Considering the constant changes, closures/re-openings and now most recently only outdoor set-ups the gym industry has had to work around due to Covid, this Worlds Gym has done an amazing job in a stressful situation. The new manager, Frank, has been able to turn the outside pool and basketball area along with their already set up "Muscle beach" lifting area, into a great outdoor gym. The equipment has a large variety for any type of weight lifter. Him and the staff are all very friendly and work hard to abide by the necessary Covid rules, constant sanitary/cleanliness and mask wearing

You know what my experience here for one year was this. The prices are very reasonable, and there is tons of workout equipment and space. The sauna had been working off and on many times due to some members pouring water on it so I missed out on many sessions. I cancelled because I moved to another city so when I signed my termination agreement while abiding to the policy after my one year was up, I still got charged after my contract was up.
I contacted the manager and front desk and they apologize and refunded that money in a honest way. I really appreciated that because that shows me character

Solid 3 stars.
It has the basic amenities such as machines, weights, group classes, sauna, pool and more. I've noticed a lot of the machines have been broken down still without getting fixed even with the new ownership as World Gym (previously known as Powerhouse Gym, previously known as Gold's Gym).
Zumba class is killer. Bring cash if you're gonna purchase a membership. Don't forget to wipe down your workout area.
