Our Four C's of Diamonds guide can help you decide on the most important factors when shopping for a diamond. The word carat derives from the word carob, a Mediterranean seed, which has an extremely consistent weight for measuring. The greater the carat weight, the rarer, and more valuable the diamond becomes.
Some people want to buy the biggest diamond possible. Is this always the right choice? The larger the diamond, chances are the more inclusions it likely has, and because it's larger, these inclusions are typically even more visible than on a smaller diamond. But most importantly, if the diamond cut isn't proportioned correctly, it won't return the maximum amount of light through the top of the diamond.

Came in with my mom to ask about getting a ring resized. It wasn't an expensive piece of jewelry but it had sentimental value to my mother. After looking at the ring for thirty seconds the gentleman handed it back and said there was no way it could be resized because of the chrome or metal(?) plating over the silver and there was no point. (Honestly, he was so short with us and dismissive and spoke so quickly). We did ask some follow-up questions about the process and the stones and he basically said the ring was cheaper than the appraisal would be and it wasn't worth it, which did upset my mother

Lesson learned: don't try to replace a watch battery yourself. I had my first experience with John Anthony Jewellers a number of years ago. The fly-by-night gold buyers were in town for the weekend. Hubby and I took some gold jewellery (I wear silver/white gold) and I wasn't happy with their quote. Went to JAJ and they quadrupled the quote I was given, plus I got my diamonds back.
When hubby died, I took one of his watches in to get links taken out so I could wear it. I loved that particular watch and wore it daily. I then bought a bangle bracelet and had it engraved and brought a necklace in

We had an excellent experience with John and his team, incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and informative. As a first time buyer rings can be very intimidating and John Anthony jewlers was fantastic in walking through that experience by breaking all components down and options available.
