Dr. Rorke, the founder of our clinic, began working as a veterinarian in the Peterborough area in 1996 after a year or so in Manhattan, where she practiced in a small animal hospital on the Upper West Side. She is a graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.
She thoroughly enjoys the clients and patients she meets in our clinic and through our mobile service, which offers veterinary care to patients in their homes locally and sometimes an hour and more away from our base hospital. She shares her home with Buddy, a young orange cat adopted from the Peterborough Humane Society, who's true to his name, and a 4 year old border collie, Tucker Too, also from the PHS.

Services
As a new client of our Animal Hospital in Otonabee, you can expect our full attention to your pets' needs. Our service will be provided with courtesy and respect. When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted warmly, and we will usher you into an examination room as soon as we have one available.
As alternative therapies have become more popular with pet owners, we have added these modalities to the services we offer. Alternative therapies, which are also referred to as "integrative" or "complementary" therapies, include acupuncture and laser therapy. We provide these therapies in conjunction with traditional medicine and surgery to help improve outcomes and to give us additional options for treating our patients.
We are equipped to handle a wide variety of medical conditions, including emergencies. Because we can perform many diagnostic procedures in-house, we can often give you immediate answers and start treating your pet faster. In some cases, your pet may require hospitalization and further diagnostic tests.
During surgery and other medical procedures, our team of veterinarians and veterinary technicians monitors all patients to ensure their safety. We monitor every procedure, regardless of whether it's routine or more advanced. The type of anesthesia we use depends on the procedure. Some require general anesthesia, while others may only call for local anesthesia.
Our clinic can provide you with a large selection of products for your pet. Most are available on a special-order basis, ensuring up-to-date items and freshness. Call our clinic to inquire about whatever you need. Our staff is always happy to assist you in your choices, and can provide information about quality, pricing and availability to help guide your selections.

These vets and Tech's are amazing with the animals. They love and care about each animal as if it were their own.
They explain everything to you and will continue to explain the detailed treatment until you understand.
You can see the passion and the care they have for each individual anima from the Vets to the receptionists. Amazing people, amazing service.

I was referred here after a previous vet refused to provide care for my dog. Never had a problem here. They are able to accommodate his needs wonderfully. He is anxious and requires some special attention (treats for distraction) which they are more than happy to provide. Very happy we switched vets.

Dr. Rourk is hands down the most amazing vet I've had the pleasure of entrusting with my beloved pets. Her open mindedness and ability to work with you is incredible and not something you encounter enough of in this industry. You will never be pushed out of your comfort zone and she is very open to discussions (for those like me with a background in animal care and an avid google researcher) which is important to me. I'd add another five stars just for the level of love and care she has for the animals who are so lucky to have her as their vet.

Great place if you are already a client, If not they are very rude. I have been helping a friend by driving her animals there so I figured I would give them a call to see about fixing my dogs. The lady I spoke to indicated they aren't taking new clients and to call another vet as she was hanging up on me.

The kindest animal hospital/clinic I have ever been to. Everyone was so kind and extremely knowledgeable. You can tell they truly care about your pet and will make sure they are comfortable. We brought Presley for an enucleation procedure last week and she has been recovering amazing. The hospital did an amazing job.
