Nina is a registered dental assistant. She has been working with Dr Coulson since graduating from the NAIT assisting program in 2012. Nina always brings a sense of calm into the room with her friendly and laid-back personality. Antonette is passionate about educating patients on how to optimize their oral health and prevent dental disease!
Dr. Norma Coulson is a local University of Alberta graduate with a bachelor of Medical Sciences and Doctor of Dental Surgery. Dr. Coulson is passionate about delivering the very best quality of care to all of her patients. Although she admits to being a perfectionist with her work, she is a "people person".
Our smallest patients at River Valley Dental are extra special to us! We believe it is important to build positive relationships with our child patients in order to foster a lifetime of good oral health. The Canadian Dental Association recommends an oral exam for infants within 6 months of the eruption of the first tooth, or by one year of age.
Periodontal disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. It is a leading cause of tooth loss in Canadian adults. Good oral hygiene and regular dental examinations are essential in prevention and early detection of gum disease. Gingivitis (gums disease) and periodontitis (gums and bone disease) are the two main forms of periodontal disease (also called pyorrhea).
Composite bonding can work wonders for your smile. Using materials that match the shade, translucency and the texture of your teeth, gaps between teeth can be closed, spots and discolorations can be disguised, and your self-confidence can be enhanced through the improved appearance of your smile. The dentist will match the shade of your existing teeth and then tooth-colored composite resin is applied to the tooth, much like a filling procedure.

This dentistry clinic is hands above the rest. Amazingly professional and articulate.
They ensure you understand and feel comfortable about their practices and procedures. Every question I had was answered. The ladies at reception explained costs, pending appointments and anything else I inquired about extremely clearly, so there was no wondering about anything on my part.
The dentist and hygienist were also extremely helpful in explaining procedures so that everything is transparent and understood.

Dr. N. Coulson is the most gentle, knowledgeable, professional dentist I have ever encountered. She takes the extra time to not only fully explain everything and answer all of your questions, but also to ensure maximum comfort throughout procedures. I once had so much respect for this dental office. However today when I called asking to make an appointment/ get some information from the last time I was there, and the receptionist reminded me of why I stopped going there for me and my family’s dental services.
I remembered that I stopped going there because I just got a filling and I went home and started getting pain within a few days. So I called back and Jivani was the dentist working on my teeth. He figured it was because my bite was off from the filling. So he shaved the tooth down a bit. I went home. I still was in pain. They did not

Can't judge the quality of work, probably good. However, very unorganized and unclear administratively, also a very rude receptionist. In my case, I was a student with a dental plan in my insurance and they informed me over the phone (before the treatment) that my co-payment is waived so I do not need to pay out of pocket. Based on that information I proceeded. Months after I got my teeth fixed, I got a mail from the clinic asking me to pay about $170. They did not admit misinforming me before coming (despite providing evidence) which looked a bit dishonest. I refused to pay out of principle, even

Dr. Jivani is amazing! I have been a patient here for about 3 years and through every interaction, he went above and beyond to make sure any work done was as comfortable as possible (anesthetic really doesn't work well for me) and that I was happy with the results. I had 4 implant crowns done over these years and for the first time in my life, have a full set of adult teeth! Dr. Jivani not only made sure I was 100% satisfied with my final smile, but came in on his day off to ensure I could get my two front teeth installed before Christmas! Hands down, he's the best dentist I've ever visited!

Dr.Coulson is amazing amazing amazing! I feel comfortable and at ease knowing that the my teeth are in excellent care. My family and I have been going to her for years and we don't think we will ever change clinics. The staff go above and beyond to make sure that their patients are valued and heard. Everyone is professional and caring, the clinic is modern and cozy, little snacks are available while waiting. Amazing clinic!

Our whole family has been going to Dr. Coulson’s dental office for the past few years and I can truthfully say that this is the most wonderful dentist one could wish for. From the warm and friendly reception of the girls at the front desk, to the delightful assistant Nina , the terrific hygienist Antoinette you are always greeted with a friendly smile and when they ask how you are doing, they really mean it! Nicest staff, very knowledgeable doctors and overall, one of the best dental cleanings I've ever had. Great student deal. They take the time to explain, with pictures and X-rays, the health condition of your teeth while giving you advice on how to take better care of specific tooth given its state. You come out of the office with a great smile. Highly recommended!

Absolutely recommend this Dental Practice. I haven't been to a dentist in 7-8 years, and had really been putting off getting a proper checkup and cleaning. Dr. Coulson was absolutely fantastic and put me at ease, with no judgement at all to the length of time in which I hadn't been to a dentist. Glad to now have a great baseline on healthy teeth again, and a chance to have a great doctor to help me keep them that way for the future!

I have been seeing Dr. Coulson for about 5 years now and ever since the day I met her when I came in with an infected tooth she has been my dentist. She is the best dentist I have ever seen. Her level of professionalism as well as her interest in her patients makes her a rarity. Her staff is an amazing group of people that make you feel welcomed and are very willing to help out with appointments and changes that occur. The office is stunning. Walking in, you kinda forget its a dentist office. Hands down the place to go if you need a dentist.
