As founder and owner of Mountain Vista Veterinary Hospital, I would like to personally welcome you to our website. I feel so fortunate to have been born and raised in Collingwood and to now raise my own family in this wonderful community.
Times are changing in veterinary medicine and we are proud to remain privately owned and a community-based small business allowing us to provide individualized patient care and to recommend what is best for your pet.We actively support the highschools in our region through their cooperative education programs and have hosted numerous college and university students working toward careers in veterinary medicine.

We are a collaborative team of dedicated veterinary professionals working together to provide the best care possible for your pet. We are progressive in our approach to medicine, each contributing our unique skills and interests to the practice. Cases are often discussed amoung our veterinarians so that your pet can benefit from the combined experience of many years in veterinary practice.
We provide all life-stage medical care from the first puppy and kitten visit well into your pet's golden years. Never rushed, we schedule 30 minute appointments so that there is lots of time to discuss your pet's health and to make sure your pet's treatment recommendations are clearly understood.
Ear disease is extremely common in our pets and can be a challenge to resolve completely in some patients that have underlying health issues driving the disease.Chronic skin allergy is a very common cause of chronic ear inflammation and can lead to yeast overgrowth and/or bacterial infections in the ear canal.

We are your pet's surgical center and perform a variety of surgical procedures including spay and neuter, soft tissue surgery and orthopedic procedures such as cranial cruciate and fracture repair. Anything beyond our scope of expertise may be referred to a veterinary surgery specialist.
Your pet's safety is our number one concern therefore all patients are prepared for surgery and recovered in our ICU under the watchful eye of trained health care team members.Your pet's vital parameters, heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen, CO2, respiratory rate and temperature are continously monitored by our trained anesthetic assistants.

Diagnostic imaging is used in veterinary medicine to take a "sneak peak" into your pet's body allowing us to diagnose a variety of conditions. Ultrasound is a non-invasive tool to evaluate many internal structures using harmless sound waves that bounce off various organs that creates a picture.
Ultrasound is used extensively in our hospital to diagnose a variety of conditions and used to collect sterile urine samples and to take biopsies in a non-invasive manor. Our team is trained in AFAST/TFAST scanning techniques which is a quick way to assess a patient with ultrasound in an emergency situation and we are very fortunate to have IVUSS certified veterinary ultrasonographer, Dr. Jacquie Pankatz as part of our team.
