Transition is change; it's often life's way of asking us to re-examine our present way of being. Sometimes these transitions are predictable, but too often they can be unpredictable, such as the sudden death of a loved one or a debilitating accident. They all have one thing in common though: they force us to change our present life and we tend to be resistant to this.
A major transition puts us in a new place and sends us in a new path that we have never walked before. The adjustment can be difficult as we experience feelings of fear, doubt and uncertainty. Transition opens up a period of self-reflection which leads to a new beginning and a new outlook on life. Want it or not, we are forced to let go of the old ways and learn new ones.
