Services
Shae grew up on a farm in rural Ontario with her many animals including a pig, 3 horses, and 2 dogs. The wonderful Dr. Wilkie graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College, with honours, in 1992. Amy is in the midst of completing her last semester of the Veterinary Technology program at Douglas College.
Wellness & Preventive Care We want to give your loved ones the best care! We stress the importance of an annual physical examination. A complete medical assessment begins with a full head-to-tail examination, during which the doctor checks all of your pet's systems for any abnormalities. Blood tests can be performed as necessary to assess the proper functioning of your pet's kidneys, liver, pancreas, and endocrine system.
At Ambleside Animal Hospital, we are proud to offer our patients the convenience of in-house laboratory and radiography equipment. Our medical laboratory facilities provide for bloodwork, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
817-598-0886 The most common soft tissue surgery performed at our clinic is the removal of masses or 'lumps'. Lumps are removed and tested at a lab for identification of the disease process. Early removal and accurate diagnosis of a 'lump' is necessary to improve the outcome in your pet if the mass is cancerous.
Quite often, we perform routine dental work on our patients. All of our dental procedures get a set of full mouth dental x-rays. These allow us to observe the roots of the teeth and see problems, like bone loss or abscesses, that may not necessarily be visible on the surface of the teeth.
Much like your own dentist, the cleaning and x-rays will be performed by one of our technicians, followed by a thorough examination of both the teeth and the x-rays by one of our doctors.Many of our veterinarians have had additional dental education to be able to perform any needed tooth extractions quickly and skillfully.

Ambleside Veterinary has been the most responsive and professional, clear and concise each time we have brought Bert the pug there. Whether it was teeth cleaning and extractions or referrals to sub-specialists, I am assured that Dr. Sang not only gave us the best options with clear implications of the each but that she did so out of her sincere kindness and care for the welfare of my dog. I have owned many dogs over multiple decades and can reflective and sincerely say that this is the best veterinary care my dog, and I as an owner, have experienced.

I have been using Ambleside Animal Hospital since my dog was a puppy, for both routine things (vaccinations etc.) and the odd "emergency". The entire team is fantastic from the second you arrive. They make animals feel very much at home (my dog can't wait to go in - no nervousness at all), and the entire team is extremely professional. The one thing that always stands out to me is their professionalism - they are very thorough in covering all angles, but they're also very practical: if you don't need a service, they're not pushing you to take it. My pooch went to Ambleside for urgent care last Saturday, undiagnosed and very sick. He had been examined by 3 other vets at Burrard Hospital having spent the previous 24 hrs there receiving supportive care. Symptoms persisted after he was discharged and I decided to take him to Ambleside during regular business hours using their drop in service for second opinion. Dr. Irwin found the issue right away. I wasted hundreds of dollars on diagnostics trying to figure what was wrong at Burrard hospital. It turns out I just needed an experienced vet who knew to examine his mouth area carefully - Dr. Irwin

I cannot say enough positive about Dr. Bridges. Monkey is alive because of him. He did the necessary tests and medications and hydration.He explained what was likely happening and that it might happen again. Follow ups from the clinic via Olivia were very timely and responsive and welcoming. Kayla was my first contact on the phone the afternoon before; she was so calm and professional and caring. Ambleside Animal Hospital has been our vet for approximately 10 years, and in that time we have had nothing but excellent experiences. We recently lost our senior dog to heart disease, and they truly went above and beyond to care for him. Having such an amazing team to turn to for help during difficult circumstances was truly a lifeline for me and my pet. No matter who we worked with on any given day, the calibre for care was always very high, and the staff at Ambleside demonstrated exceptional compassion and professionalism in all interactions with us. The team at Ambleside Animal Hospital always goes above and beyond every time my dog needs to visit. Being a first time dog owner I've had a ton of questions about raising a puppy, all of which have been thoroughly answered by the team. The times where I've had any concerns with my dog's health, Ambleside Animal Hospital has gone the extra step of texting or calling days later to follow up and make sure everything was okay.

When we first went to Ambleside we received exceptional service, they really went above and beyond for us. Afterwards, they asked us to give them a good review since they had recently had a complaint regarding Dr. Irwin losing her temper on another client. Since we received such good care we didn't even think twice about giving her a glowing review, when in reality we should have. Shortly after I originally left this review, a new review was posted that contradicts mine. This leads me to believe that this is a pattern for Dr. Irwin, and I'm sure it won't

I have been taking my dog, Flash, here for the past 2 years. He is always happy to go into the clinic. All the staff are extremely helpful and patient, answering any concerns that I have. With deepest sadness I had to say goodbye to my buddy Sam on Monday. He had the best life traveling, hiking, eating and hanging out. He loved people and visiting with everyone! The last few months have been very hard health wise but fortunately in the grand scheme of things this did not define him but allowed him to refine his friendliness skills… by giving everyone he met a little happiness from his smiling face and happy tail. So far so good! I saw Dr Wilkie for my rescue dog. Her approach was very gentle and clear. I have left the VCA animal clinics as I started running into issues with how their clinics are run. I’ve had 3 dogs in 24 years and have been to a number of vets, and I know a bad business when I find it. Thank the heavens for Ambleside animal hospital. They seem to have have their stuff together and it seems to be more about the animal care as a first priority rather than scamming clients into expensive tests that reveal nothing.
