Pacific Yacht Systems
I started this company because, at the heart of it all, I am a boater. A boater who experienced a catastrophic electrical fail on my first boating voyage. As a systems design engineer, I couldn't understand how someone could overlook the very basic, safety requirements of a marine electrical system.

It really is the heart of every boat and, simple or complicated, these systems are based on industry standards that are designed to keep you and your family safe. My personal philosophy has always been to do things right versus making things work. Boat electrical systems are getting more and more complicated and these standards exist for a reason.
Services
Pacific Yacht Systems is based in Vancouver B.C. and specializes in marine electronics and electrical systems. We serve boaters throughout BC, with PYS techs based in Greater Vancouver, Sunshine Coast, and Vancouver Island. We work on 1,000's of boats every year and recognize the truth in expertise through repetition.
If you have questions about your boat's electronics or electrical, contact us using the form on the right. If you are not sure where to start with your boat's electronics or electrical, set up an Electrical Audit or an Electrical Orientation and we will meet you at your boat to review. For general questions, check out our Ask PYS, Articles, Tech Talk, Hotwire or Videos under Resources.
If you aren't sure where to start or would like to know more about your boat's electrical or navigation equipment, book an Electrical Orientation. Whether it is a brand new boat or a new-to-you boat, one of our ABYC & NMEA -trained technicians will meet you at your boat and walk you through your electrical system.
This is one of our most popular services. A PYS ABYC-trained tech will meet you at your boat and spend an hour and a half reviewing your battery setup, inverter, charger, DC switching and fusing. Not only will you become more familiar with your electrical but you will know that your electrical system is working the way it should.
I Am Installing an Inverter/Charger on My Boat, Why Do I Have to Install a Switch on the DC Side?. The AC and DC panel is one of the key building blocks of a boat's electrical system. With time, many electrical panels are undersized to handle the current electrical needs of the boat. Too many panels are jury-rigged to make it work.

I have been using the excellent services of PYS for almost ten years on a myriad of electronic and electric work on two Catalina sailboats that I have owned over the years. The work included the installation of solar panels, chart plotter, radar, alternator, batteries, a battery monitor, and the revamping of the electrical system on both boats. If you're looking for a cheap fix, don't contact Jeff or any other of the professionals at PYS. What I have received each and every time from PYS is great advice, timely work (very important in our short boating season), professional installation, and great

When I decided to upgrade and modernize the electrical system on our 1986 Albin trawler, I soon realized that I was in over my head. I watched many of the videos on the PYS website, which were helpful, but the best decision I made was to consult with PYS. Lyle drew up a plan for a new electrical system to fit our boat and cruising style. Every step of the way he was there via email or zoom to answer questions and give expert guidance as I upgraded our boat with a large house bank, battery to battery chargers for starter and bow thruster/windlass batteries, a solar array, high output alternator

We recently used Pacific Yacht Systems to design a complete1000 watt solar system for our Selene 53. We also purchased all of the components from PYS
My wife and I installed the system ourselves and this would not have been possible without the advice along the way that Jeff and Lyle provided.
We are very happy with how the installation turned out and how it is performing. We have a large house bank and this system has drastically cut back our generator use.
We highly recommend yacht systems!

I decided it was time to upgrade my 17 year old Raymarine electronics on my Commander 30 Yacht. I chose to do a full renewal using all Garmin products. The company was a pleasure to deal with from the beginning with appropriate advice about what to buy. The installation was definitely a challenge, getting all the cables and wiring from main cabin to the bridge and radar unit. The amazing part was the wonderful job the technicians did to install the products. The quality of their workmanship was definitely five star. Such a treat to see that pride of doing the job correctly still exists. Highly

PYS installed solar panels and a Hurricane heating system for us. Jeff provided excellent advice, only the best parts were used, and Jake's workmanship was impeccable. They'll have my business for future projects and I'd recommend them to anyone.

I hired PYS as consultants on a major electrical project I was undertaking over the winter to look over my designs and make sure I was using correct wire sizing and fusing. I did all the work myself, but I always had Lyle and Jeff there via email or phone to help me when I had questions. In the end, the project was a huge success and everything worked first time. I am also confident it is safe and robust. They were very good and I will use them again in the future.

Jeff and the crew at PYS have recently completed the install of a Efoy 210 fuel cell complete with a Victron battery monitor. We also had PYS supply and install a Spectra VT-150-D water maker. Jeff was really helpful with his suggestions and determining the requirements for electrical demand and fresh water consumption on our Ranger 31. We also had PYS trouble shoot our Garmin autopilot and calibrate our radar. We are so pleased with the quality of workmanship and for being on time for scheduled work. The crew of Tried & True want to give a great big shout out to all the crew a PYS for their assistance

Terrible. Take a look at the photos & video. They used silicone to install the battery monitor into the dash, but you can see it's not level. The video shows loose battery connections on my new battery and it rocks! Jeff talks about using black and white only for AC wire on a boat, but they used black and red for the hot connections on the AC electrical panel and didn't bother to heat shrink the heat shrink terminals. They cut an undersized hole in my battery box for the cable to exit and didn't bother to remove the burr. I refused to pay for months, I phoned and emailed. Jeff never offered to

Installation of solar panel - I used PYS to install a 100W solar panel on a sailboat. From start to finish the experience was excellent from product advice to the installation. The work was scheduled promptly. The technician arrived ahead of the agreed appointment. He performed the work in a efficient and professional manner. The installation turned out better than I expected. Great job. Based on my experience, I would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to others. Thank you to Jeff, Chris and Romeo.

If you are a serious boater who look for AAA electrical related services, PYS is the vendor to go for. I recently bought a 2006 Cruisers Yachts and PYS has helped me to upgrade the navigation and other electrical and entertainment systems including a radar, chartplotter, transducer, battery monitor, VHF radio, Fusion sound system and the galvanic isolators. Their service has been immaculate vis-a-vis product recommendation, problem diagnosis, scheduling of jobs, work quality, and after installation follow-up. They might not be the cheapest vendor in town but it is definitely worth it. I also learnt
