Services
Our children's eye exams are tailored to your child's age and ability. Your child does not need to know the alphabet or know how to read in order to undergo an eye exam. For younger children, we use shapes, videos, and pictures to make the eye exam experience as engaging and fun as possible. In addition to testing your near vision and distance vision, we use advanced diagnostic equipment to evaluate your eye health.
For over 30 years, successive Ontario governments have ignored Optometrists. In 1989 the fee paid for an OHIP insured eye exam was $39.15; today, over 32 years later, it is on average $44.65. This has not kept up with inflation and does not come close to covering the cost (including rent, staff, utilities, equipment, taxes and supplies) to provide an eye exam.

After purchasing contact lenses online (from a different retailer), I noticed that I seemed to have irritation and my eye was very sensitive. I phoned around to several places, and Barrhaven Optometric was the only one who managed to give me an appt on the same day (within 2 hours).
The entire staff was extremely nice and professional, and the Dr, Ms. Yvonne, who helped me and prescribed me eye drops was amazing. This is literally the best interaction I have had in health care ever. Thank you so much to the staff at Barrhaven Optometric and thank you Dr Yvonne for your assistance.

My son has been a patient here since he was born. Before we were really satisfied with their professional and friendly service. Today a really rude and unprofessional doctor gave him the eye examination. The way she responsed my very common question is 'I don't know what is that, I said I don't know' with a mocking and impatient face. She has no patience at all with my three-year old boy. The whole process made us so uncomfortable. Won't recommend to anyone taking their little kids come here to see doctor Zhang.

From beginning to end this was an excellent experience! Dr. Yue Evelyn Zhang had a great bedside manner, talked through everything and took as much time with me as I needed during my exam and then contact fitting.
The office staff were kind, friendly and extremely helpful! When I had an issue with the address on my receipt they forwarded me a scanned copy of the corrected receipt the same day!
The experience of trying on new glasses was 10/10, everything was sanitized, clean and made me feel confident that I could try on as many pairs until I found the right pair for me. No one made it feel like

I have been a patient at the Barrhaven Optometric Centre for many years, consistency pleased with the quality and professionism of my optometrist. Recently, I had an issue with my glasses and worked with their opticians to resolve it. The service and support I received was excellent. The questions on their intake forms are truly invasive considering you are just going in to get contacts, glasses, or an eye exam. I think those questions are best asked once they’ve at least built some rapport with clients especially, if that information is going to be shared with other health care professionals (for what reason they do not stipulate in their intake form). How can anyone consent to that without knowing where their information is going and when.
I tried to share this with the secretary but of course she wouldn’t listen and defended this without really trying to understand

Had an appt today as a first time client. Was first given a prelin exam, the girls were great (sorry didn't get names). Dr. Zhang was professional and explained each step thoroughly as we proceeded. Not rushed, had time for questions and answered them all. She was also great.
Covid protocols were in place, greater/screener at the entrance and wiped down everything in front of me prior to use (including equipmentand chairs). felt very comfortable coming here.
Overall great experience, highlty recommend Barrhaven Optometric Centre.

I came in with a need of a pair of sport sunglasses and walked out with 3 pairs. I couldnt say no to amazing pricing. Nor how professional and knowledgeable ans friendly Leanne was. She took the time to understand my needs and what suit best for my face frame and lifestyle. I will definately come back for my eye exam. I highly recommand Barrhaven Optometric Centre for your complete eye care.

I've been coming here since I was a child, and the service is always great. They're very kind and knowledgeable. I recently got my first pair of glasses from them and they are great at helping you decide what works for you and frames your face.
When I had some trouble with the glasses, I called in and came in and got fast help and they went above and beyond to help. Dee and Daniela, you guys are fantastic!!

Recently I had the distinct please to meet Dr Andrea DeSouza at Barrhaven Optometric Centre. She is one of most approachable, knowledgeable & efficient medical persons I have ever dealt with. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an optometrist. Her examination is thorough, she takes the time to answer questions and to accommodate for a… patient’s individual medical needs and drug therapies that must be considered when prescribing glasses, disposable contacts, eye irritations due to allergies etc. She is courteous, obviously very intelligent & clearly loves her chosen
