Sue has peeled open my brain and completely changed how I think about moving and relating to my body. She has taught me how to apply it in my daily activities: mountain biking, skiing, gardening, walking and even driving. It has been fundamental to my overall health, fitness, injury recovery and prevention and I can't imagine being able to sustain my active lifestyle without Moving Spirit.
The Small Conversations for a Better World podcast brings you interviews with experts, thought-leaders and influencers to explore the question, "what is health?" Co-hosts Gillian McCormick and Susannah Steers believe it's often the quiet and seemingly insignificant conversations we take part in every day that can change the world.
Moving Spirit has one dedicated "Moving Spirit" stall in the parking lot in front of the building. We also have stall #9 in the underground parking at this address. Stall #12 at Mountain Technologies is reserved for Moving Spirit use. Stall #12 is located on the north side of the lot, against the Mountain Technologies Building.

Six months after starting pilates classes with Allison at Moving Spirit, beginning with studio reformer sessions, switching to virtual mat classes during the recent lockdown, and now back in the studio with strict protocols in place, I am noticeably more flexible, stronger and far less stressed than before. Susannah and Allison have created an open, supportive, friendly and relaxed environment which, coupled with their empathetic, intuitive and expert instruction, inspires and motivates me. I just keep getting better and there is no looking back now...

I have been working with Susannah for over a year now and have found her to be extremely knowledgeable about the body, very compassionate and patient beyond measure! With explicit imagery, she has helped me learn to release muscles that weren't serving me and retrain my core. I am very pleased with the direction I am heading and would highly recommend her as a teacher. I have been to many classes and practitioners and she is the best!

I began working with Susannah a few years ago when I was struggling with the pain and misery of the limitations of 2 frozen shoulders. If you had told me that I would find a way to move without pain and feel strong, I would have told you it would take a miracle. This summer, I was able to go slalom waterskiing, and begin my next day with no shoulder pain. Woohoo. Susannah has the capacity to see through the body patterns and with compassion help you into movement patterns that will make you want to celebrate that miracles can and do happen.
Thanks again to Susannah for making this 50 something

I began private movement training classes with Susannah Steers, owner of Moving Spirit, in September 2011. We have worked together weekly since then and I believe the difference between training at Moving Spirit and other places is the teaching. The studio is also excellent. I am learning how to listen to my body and am benefitting from a completely customized movement strategy geared to my personal limitations and how to overcome my unique issues. I incorporate my new movement strategies and customized exercises into everyday activities such as walking and hiking. I am lifting my grandkids with

Fourteen years ago I booked my first session with Sue. I wanted to strengthen my body and improve my mobility. At the time I had frequent inflammation and pain in my knees along with chronic back issues which combined often made walking or climbing stairs difficult for me. Her approach differed from other movement professionals I’d seen in that she regularly assessed my abilities before guiding me into actions. She made sure to work with me `where I was at’ encouraging `small steps’ and building from there. In the past I would often `overdo things or try too hard’ and injure myself when

I originally sought out Moving Spirit for help with long standing back issues ... but what I found was SO much more than that! Sue brings so much to the work we do together: Her understanding of the body and how it moves is grounded in an amazing grasp of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology , as well as an indepth understanding of sources of dysfunctional movement, and years of personal experience of competitive movement. She meshes this with an highly developed capacity to 'see' what my body is doing, deft use of language to communicate what she sees, and great compassion as she coaches me into

Sue is an experienced, knowledgeable, skilled practitioner. She has a great command of anatomy and the anatomy of movement. Through intuition and observation, she is very skilled at determining the issues your body may be dealing with and how to address those issues.
Sue is very patient and has a gentle and sensitive approach. I have always felt comfortable and safe in her bright, open, clean studio. Whether the task has called for a gentle touch healing or a physical workout, I leave every session feeling better.

I have never been stronger, or felt better!
I sought Sue's help about 10 years ago, for help with chronic low back pain, knees that were prone to swelling and discomfort, as well as for a shoulder injury.
I had tried physiotherapy and acupuncture, to no long term positive result. With Sue's vast knowledge of how our body moves, and her intuitive skill in getting at the root of the problem, I have a much stronger and pain free back, knees that have regained their flexibility and "bounce", and am well on my way to learning how to support my shoulder to endure the rigours of my favourite sport of
