Shawnessy Vietnamese Restaurant

I dined here without checking the reviews and that was a learning! It was one of the most expensive Vietnamese restaurants I have been to, but one of the poorest in quality! Servers, atmosphere was fine, just the taste of food did not cut out for me! Even the hot sauces were crappie!

The person who took the order was very knowledgeable and the food itself was honestly fresh and delicious. My wife enjoyed the wonton soup and I have the stirred chicken with vegetables and white rice. Good for having something more natural and no oil over meals

I went to order food in person to go for take out. The server was nice enough but there was so much traffic that they were bombarded with skip the dishes orders. They had priority over me and my girlfriend. So in short we ended up waiting for 35 minutes in total for our meal. I have never waited this long for a meal. Either get your priorities straight or keep it consistent with orders especially when your making your customers wait this long. Its embarrassing. First and last time heading here.

Got a beef vietnamese sub, very good as they usually are, contained a large amount of shredded carrot, at least more than I am used to. The server was friendly and the service was quick.

Matter of preference, but we thought that the food did not taste as good comparing to other places. Cannot recommend it unfortunately.

Ordered take out. Paid extra ($2.50 / 1oz) for hoisin sauce, but when you dine in it’s free?? Some of the veggies were still cold in the Shanghai noodles. Meat was chewy in the vermicelli. Not very good, will not be back or recommend.

With so many great Vietnamese restaurants in Calgary I would not recommend going here.
Welcomed by a lady yelling from across the restaurant "sign the paper" (AHS Covid registry). I obliged and looked up to see her pointing at a booth. I made my way to my table and a few moments later she dropped off a menu a napkin and break apart paper enclosed chop sticks. After reviewing the menu I made eye contact and she made her way over to take my order. Not a word was spoken by her. She wrote down my order snatched my menu out of my hand and disappeared into the back.
I ordered Shrimp and Pork salad

I always have worries when a Vietnamese restaurant doesn't have tripe on the menu. My girlfriend satay soup wasn't as hot as my special soup, she got a small and I got extra large, not worth the price difference. There was no tripe, no cilantro, and no basil but lots of onions. The meat I had wasn't much and poor quality. The bathroom was old and dirty, and the dining room wasn't particularly clean. The staff had all the personality of a wet dish cloth. Thankfully I didn't get sick but I still will not be back.

Have been here numerous times and enjoy the food. Gave it 3 stars because the customer service is hit and miss...it would be nice if the staff could offer up a smile now and then. The food is on par with most authentic Vietnamese, nothing super special, but there is more than enough variety on the menu to suite everyone’s tastes.

Ordered a seafood pho and the picture will explain it all... never going back
Once you get your food no one will even come to ask how the food is. Forget about even filling up your water to drink.
