Ate here on New Year’s Eve. There were four of us. I felt a bit rushed and the waiter didn’t know what beers he had besides one traditional Indian beer. When I asked him how many ounces the glass of wine was, he looked at me with a blank look and couldn’t answer. He came back with a small glass to show us what it would come in. Asked if they had 2 sizes,.. again didn’t understand the question. When the food finally came, I was underwhelmed at the small portion sizes for the money. About $ 67.00 before tax for 4 small meat plate dishes - which didn’t include any rice or Naan bread which

My wife and I we’re craving Indian food for lunch. We would frequently go for lunch (pre-pandemic) as we live the Glebe; and they normally have a wonderful lunch buffet. I called at 12:35pm asking if the buffet was open. We were told YES…..open til 1:30pm. We arrived 12mins later only to be told “sorry we’re going to run out of food”…..?! Very disappointed.
I’m a classically trained papered chef, I understand food costing, menu planning as well as quantity food production. Buffets should NEVER run out of food with 40mins remaining in lunch service. More importantly, clients should

Light of India has a great decor and wonderful service. Both the servers that we were working were LOVELY. Unfortunately their quality of food is horrible. We ordered the vegetable curry and mutter paneer and it was canned vegetables and canned soup. The food was not fresh, no colour and the panner looked like and tasted like frozen cheese curds. The chappati I ordered was just a warmed up tortilla bread. I would not recommend eating or ordering take out from Light of India in Ottawa, Gelbe, despite their great decor and jond servers. The food quality is horrible and it was the worst indian food

Ordered from Light of India last night via UberEats, and it was without a doubt my worst takeout experience. I was charged $60 for two tiny containers (roughly 200grams of food each) of Butter Chicken and Saag Paneer, as well as two Garlic Naans. I do not understand on what planet these tiny quantities should cost nearly $20 each.
This restaurant is an absolute scam. In addition to these laughable portions, both dishes tasted as if they were made by someone who had never eaten Indian food before in their life. The Butter Chicken was sweet and void of spices, and the Saag Paneer was just chopped

Amazing food! The spices and vegetables added in tied the dish together really well. The portions are huge, and the takeaway bags were fully stocked with plates, cutlery, and napkins. Everything was kept separate to ensure nothing spilled. Also, I do not think I’ve had lamb that tender in a long time. The homemade naan was clearly made in a stone oven with a lot of love. Definitely looking forward to going in to have a meal fresh from the kitchen.

This place is really lovely, it looks, smells, and feels very authentically Indian for sure, and I am saying this as a very high compliment to them.
It is conveniently located and had a definite, distinct charm and aura.
When you enter you are greeted exotically with colorful art, quiet background ambience, accommodating seating, and incredible service.
They go the extra mile to really serve you well.
We had some appetizers, which in themselves were quite excellent in quality and quantity, the onion bhaji (sp?) were great as was the prawn topped bread.. spicy and perfect. Their naan in fact

Tonight was our first time at the restaurant, and it was empty but we have heard good things from friends so went anyway. We tried ordering on our own, but the server told us we made a good effort but that our choices weren't great - he told us the eggplant appetizer was bland, and that ordering a Biryani with a dry curry will be too dry. Instead he convinced us to get the shrimp appetizer, the tandoori butter chicken, and the eggplant veggie curry along with a plain rice and a naan - and he was right. Even after the appetizer he checked in with us about the spice level. Everything was full of
