Wow! Incredible food! Very attentive waiter. SHAHED IS THE MAN! I looked at all the reviews I was wondering how in the hell this place only had 3.6 stars, then I looked at it, every single negative review was from 4 or 5 years ago when they had different management.
Don't let this fool you, was a incredible experience with my mother and best friend.
Come here you won't regret it.
I'm a very respected Local Guide, I won't steer you wrong. Delicious food, incredible service and reasonable prices. What more could you want downtown Ottawa at one of the oldest and most prestigious hotels in the city

We had high hopes but we we very disappointed.
I don't think I've ever been served spoiled lettuce in a salad before. I guess there's a first time for everything.
We also ordered the flat bread which was a pre-cooked (and therefore cold) dough with slices of tomato, bocconcini and rocket.
Two stars, because the hamburger was good.

I've been to the restaurant at the Lord Elgin Hotel many times over my lifetime, and the current incarnation is the best by far. The food was absolutely amazing. The charcuterie board as a starter was perfect. And the linguini with cream mushroom sauce was the best I've had in a very long time. We tried all of the desserts, and they were all excellent. Go, you won't regret it.

Food was okay, but the server tried to take away my plate twice while there was still food on it. The restaurant was more half empty, so why the annoying rush?

Had breakfast there today. First time eating here. Nice decor. Staff were kind. Breakfast prices reasonable considering it is an upscale restaurant.

WalKed by this restaurant a million times but only when out of town guests stayed at Lord elgin did I eat here. It's actually ok and not at all like a hotel restaurant (no offense intended).
Most of us got steaks - all came as per order request and mine was perfect and tender. The sides were good too, recommend the asparagus and the spinach.
Wine list was good, not pages long but coveted the basics well.
I'd recommend this place if you wanted a steak.

The food is pretty good. The portion is also pretty big. The place is nice and clean. We came with a group of 25 people. Everyone's order came pretty quick. The service is also good.

My boyfriend and I went to Grill 41 on our couples getaway for my birthday. We stayed 2 nights at the hotel. We arrived, and were kind of half seated by the hostess, she kind of walked us half way and pointed to our table. We sat down and waited a solid 10 min before a waiter acknowledged us and asked if we had been tended to, and took our drink order. I got a cosmopolitan (which i was surprised was made with what seemed like grapefruit juice instead of cranberry juice but was still tasty) and my partner got one of their specialty drinks which was delicious, one of their pineapple based drinks

Pasta was too salty, and oniony. But service was really quick and good. Dining room was nice and good for a meeting. Would not really recommend unless you’re in need of a quick bite by staying in the hotel. Chicken burger for lunch the next day was really good but doesn’t redeem the entire experience. Also they had this super obnoxious ring tone for their bar phone, and it was level 10 volume.

I stayed at the Lord Elgin Hotel and ate here for lunch while on a rush to leave town. The food at the resto was fine - nothing to complain about, good even.

The thing I found amazing about this place was the service. I told the staff that I was in a hurry coming in and they did everything to help make my timing work. That included serving me as fast as possible and telling what food items would be quick to prepare and deliver. Very grateful.

We stayed at the Lord Elgin and thought it was convenient to eat at their restaurant. Oh boy what a mistake. I can't say one good thing about this trap. Right from the start we asked for Perrier with lemon, she dropped the bottle on our table without opening it. No lemon. We asked for lemon again. Ordered
Our meals. We got the calamari. Basically rings of frozen calamari over cooked and over salted. Still no lemon and no side plates. Another 15 minutes passed, the waitress completely ignored us. I got my own side plates also. I go to the bar at get my own lemon slices. We get

I was in Ottawa for business and stayed at the Lord Elgin and this is located in then hotel. I ate at the bar which was very nice. It has nice chairs and lots of high top tables to sit at. My bartender was Stuart and he was super nice and friendly. He was attentive but not pushy. He was very patient with handling multiple customer's at once and was very informative about choices of drinks. I didn't order a cocktail but he was still nice. I ordered dinner which was the Seafood Linguine it was ok not great definitely needed some salt for sure. The sauce was definitely bland but it had

I've been here twice for the brunch buffet and wasn't blown away. There was a small selection of breakfast foods to choose from. It was a hit and miss. Some of the breakfast foods were great and some were not. The lunch foods were great and selection was diverse. The desserts were very well done. The servers are nice and friendly but it takes a while for them to go to your table. For the price, I expected more.

The restaurant is an ideal location within the Lord Elgin Hotel. The breakfast buffet is probably, if not one of the best I've ever had. A wide selection and everything was fresh, not runny or soggy. The wait staff were friendly and attentive to our needs.

Our first night at the hotel we went down to the bar for a drink. The bar staff were amazing. Friendly, down to earth and wanting to go that extra mile. We were a bit hungry, but did not want to eat a large dinner portion. The bar manager made us a lunch chicken wrap for us to eat. He really did go above and beyond to accommodate us.

I had drinks and appys here twice while in town for business. That's probably not enough to stand behind a higher score for a restaurant, but as a bar it has a lot going for it.

Located in the Lord Elgin Hotel, it has a great deck for people watching on a beautiful sunny day. It has a decent list of local beer on tap and pretty interesting appetizers. I tried the calamari and the hummus. Both were very good. The staff are very friendly and attentive which always helps make a deck visit more enjoyable.

Overall a pretty good experience.

Wanted to believe reviewers were harsh and a good local spot by hotel we were at, but unfortunately have to agree with mediocre food and overpriced fare. Seafood linguini bland, oversauced with poor salmon. However high amount of seafood. Servers were genial enough but worth the 5 minute walk down the street to hit up a milestone !

During our second (and last) morning at the Lord Elgin, we had breakfast in the hotel's restaurant. We expected all would be fine, as we had dined there the previous morning. When the hostess seated us and said the server would be right over but no one appeared, that should have been a sign. Server did not come over, and hostess served us coffee. We chose the buffet option, and helped ourselves to food. The server came by, cleared a dirty plate, glanced at our half empty coffee cups and went on her way. She did this more than once. She refilled coffee cups all around us. We did speak with

Dinner was a disappointment. Waiter did not read us the specials, out of two things we attempted to order and a bit more attention went to another table next to us. Please keep in mind breakfast was awesome earlier in the day which is why we returned for dinner.

Stayed at the Lord Elgin hotel, which this restaurant is attached to, last weekend for a family trip. Out of convenience, since this is the only restaurant attached to the hotel, we went there for breakfast.

I would first off like to say that this was a terrible experience and it was all because of the poor service and enormous wait times to get items.

Pros: The food was good, when it did eventually get to our table and was hot. The decor is standard for such an establishment, if kind of dark with very few windows.

Cons: Food is very slow to come, even if not very busy. Service is abysmally

Ordered the 'low calorie' breakfast because I felt like poached eggs. The toast arrived cold, and felt like it was made using month-old bread. I had to ask three times for butter and my water was never refilled, despite being empty and set on the edge of the table in plain view of the server who passed by multiple times. The coffee wasn't terrible, which is surprising for a hotel restaurant, and the eggs were cooked nicely to over-medium without me asking.

Ew. Went there for a staff lunch. Yucky. I had the seafood linguine. It was frozen seafood in a boring tomato sauce which was not at all how it was described. All the food looked like frozen, microwaved food. Never again. Skip it. Waaaay better places to eat than this place.

We went here for the turkey for thanksgiving. We ordered appetizer for two, lamb shank and turkey breast. The amount is large. But the food is not worth what is paid for sure. If the price is cut by half, that would worth is relatively good environment.

We all think it just tastes like the most common home made food or lower.
