Bayview Hill Animal Hospital
During these unprecedented times, pet ownership has increased exponentially, but the number of veterinary staff has not. There is a global shortage of trained and qualified veterinary staff that are struggling to keep up with the demand for veterinary care. Because of these shortages, there are many veterinary clinics that have limited their hours or have closed completely.

General practice and referral practices are booking weeks to months in advance due to increased case-loads as well as emergency hospitals are unable to take on any more patients into their ICUs and having to turn pets away to try to go elsewhere. Wait-times are long. We ask all our clients to please be patient and understanding with our veterinary team and the surrounding ones in our community.
Services
Our excellent team of professionals provides high quality veterinary care for all our clients and their pets. Dr. Sherkey obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1977 from the University of Guelph's Ontario Veterinary College. In 1990, he opened Bayview Hill Animal Hospital, a small clinic with one consulting room, and one other employee, his wife, Evelyn.
We offer grooming services (baths, hair cuts, de-sheddings and nail trims) for both dogs and cats. Our talented groomer, Rebecca Tobias, loves the joy she brings to pets and their owners after a day at her salon. Rebecca attended the University of Toronto and received a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Biology & Psychology.

Friendly staffs and we can only drop off my pet to do annual checkup. Vet call before we drop off my pet and after checkup. She discuss everything with us and give us the quote before all tests will be given.

Thought they were really good, but this last experience with them has made me switch vets permanently. Our dog got some dry skin spots around his belly. Bayview Hill made me do almost $1000 in tests and medication and still had no idea what it was.
We went for a second opinion and the vet isolated the problem and with one medication was able to stop the dry skin spots.
You can never say no to treatment when it comes to your pet. So you really have to trust that your vet is recommending what is right. Dr. Shirkey is trying to make money he has lost during the pandemic and brought us back 3 times

Our Dog, Sam, had been going to Bayview Hill Animal hospital for over
14 yrs. Thanks to Dr Sherkey and his staff for always being so professional and reliable as we always felt comfortable bringing our dog here. Sadly we had to put him down last week and Dr Sherkey and his staff were amazing during this very difficult process. Thank You again. The Pacione Family

This is a top notch facility in York Region for animal care. in fact, No. 1. We have been taking our cats to this location for 14 years and they receive superb attention and care. Staff treat them like family. Dr. Shelley Sherkey, the owner and a very reputable veterinarian, is one of the most honest individuals I have met. Always available for conversations, and takes as much time as needed to deal with issues. He takes professionalism to an all-star level and is committed to clear and concise communication. His skills have been superb. Highly recommend Bayview Hill Animal Hospital!

Took my dog in to get a wart checked out and was told it would cost over $800 to do an examination followed by a surgical removal for an additional cost. We told them we weren't going to proceed until we get a second opinion and instead, we used some apple cider vinegar to treat the wart and it fell off on its own in about a week. This place plays on your heart strings and will try to milk you for every penny with every chance they get. Really disappointing. I do not recommend.

Bayview Hill Animal Hospital .....Is "Not a Kosher Place or Practice."
Giving them a single star ⭐️ is sheer generosity after the appalling way we were treated by the staff members and the Doctor/Owner in this clinic.
After continued loyalty to this clinic, we learned this place was a "sham-scam" operation the hard way, finally unfortunately.
The place is run by the staff and "the GOOD doctor" who is nothing but a formal face to legitimize the business.
As we were covered by an excellent insurance policy. They regularly and callously squeezed money out of us, subjecting us to huge unjustified

I am very upset. I brought my cat in to get his teeth cleaned and one tooth extracted. $1200, okay fine, I pay because I figure he is in good care... He was returned to me with bruised paws that later turned to little cuts from the razor shavings, clearly done in a very aggressive manner (they said it was from the IV the bruising but I've never seen IV marks turn to cuts after, especially not 4-5 on each paw). My cat had a slice down his back leg after begin returned to me. I noticed 5-6 days after bringing him to the vet as his hair is quite thick and I didn't want to disturb him much after his
