Mental health can impact your oral health. Traumatic experiences, depression, or stress often lead to clenching and/or grinding of teeth while awake and especially while asleep. This can cause bruising of the teeth and TMJ (temporalmandibular [jaw] joint) disorders. Moreover, depression and stress lead to a weaker immune system which increases the probability for an oral infection.
Emotional health can impact oral health. Dental phobia can prevent individuals from visiting the dental office regularly. However, when the pain is so excruciating, no amount of fear will prevent a visit to a dental office. Unfortunately, by this time, prevention is usually too late and, often times, extensive treatment is required.
When your mouth is inhabited by harmful bacteria, it causes an inflammatory response in your mouth and body. When chronic inflammation occurs, inflammatory diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, low birth weight, preterm birth, preeclampsia, fetal growth restriction, fetal loss, aspiration pneumonia, and many other systemic diseases, are likely to develop.
Wholistic dentistry is an approach to dentistry with the belief that the mouth is an integral part of the body and vice versa. It is a system that recognizes the important relationship between oral health and overall body health. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Shanny and Lisa!!! Their whole team is great, but these two have seen me through some major dental surgeries and always made me feel safe while doing excellent work. (Extractions, bone grafting, and implants)
I’ve had a needle phobia since childhood and they use special techniques to calm me and get me through it. I never feel judged no matter how hysterical I become. I’m actually getting better at it because of them!

I'm a new client and had a wonderful experience. The staff are very friendly and made sure I understood my treatment and how it helped my overall health and the condition of my teeth. Dr. Shanny did an amazing job removing all 4 of my wisdom teeth, and made sure I was comfortable during and after the procedure. The office is very clean and has a calm welcoming atmosphere. I arrived at Junction Family Dental Care after not been able to find a dentist I liked and trusted. For ny first visit, a full exam was conducted and everything was properly explained to me and I had the opportunity to ask questions. The staff was friendly and very informative. They also worked around my schedule to book appointments that were convenient to me. Given my experience thus far I am sure my other appointments will be more then satisfactory!

I am a brand new client and my first appointment was one of the best dental experiences I have ever had. The office is really lovely and clean, and everyone took the time and care to explain everything that they were doing very thoroughly. They give you great summary forms about which procedures you had done and why, which I really appreciated. Highly recommend!

For the past 18 years I've had a phobia of dentists. I have unfortunately had multiple dentists who caused me great pain and discomfort, which led to small issues that could have been addressed but now have caused bigger problems. I was in a lot of pain and from a random Google search decided to give Junction Family Dental Care a try. I honestly couldn't have found a better place to go. Dr. Lee was highly professional in root canaling dead tissue from my bent molar leg. One can see the picture that Dr. Lee explains. Dr. Lee also explains in detail all the work he did .His team is very friendly and accommodating.
Junction Family Dental Care was able to offer 6 month payment plan for capping that molar.
I recommend Dr. Lee and his facility to others. They do not push you into unnecessary procedures and are fair to offer their free advice.

Excellent experience, from start to finish. Both Dr. Lee and Dr. Chang are extremely knowledgeable; Carla is amazing at getting you on the right track to healthy teeth with the abundance of information she provides you with. Reception staff are super friendly and always willing to go above and beyond with any questions. Great place, so glad I found them and switched over from my previous dentist.

I was searching for a dentist for quite a while and I couldn't make up my mind and choose a dentist from all the references that my coworkers and friends listed, I moved recently so I wanted to choose right since I don't like to be always changing dentists.
I found Junction Family Dental Care by coincidence (or was it really?) and by reading the information they had on their website I felt that this place was what I was looking for.

As someone with a mouth full of mercury fillings, and a LOT of experience at various dentists, I have to say today was the best dentist experience I’ve had.
The decor is more spa-like than medical. Staff is super nice and very helpful. I mentioned my LONG history, and they took notes without judgement.
I now have a plan set up to remove and replace the amalgam, which not only makes me happy, it’s a much better estimate than I had thought.

Just finished an emerg care appt and the treatment from the beginning to the end was A+ . Due to COVID they have implemented stringent protocol but all is explained clearly and in a supportive way. As far as I know, nobody enjoys going to the dentist. This office changed that for me. The cleaning I received from Kirsten was outstanding! Teeth were phenomenally clean afterwards. Kirsten's most excellent bedside manner kept me laughing and at ease throughout the procedure. We chatted so long that I wondered for a second if she would get it done. Kirsten killed it! Got it done, leaving my teeth feeling oh-so-fresh and clean. Also the fact that the cleaning was fluoride-free made my day. Had a throbbing molar on a flight into YYZ visiting from Cali - Dr Shanny Chang was simply amazing ... one of the few Holistic dentists in all of Toronto who actually cares what goes into her clients mouths !!
