Alo Restaurant
Alo, which opened in July of 2015, is a contemporary French restaurant located atop a heritage building in downtown Toronto. Our cuisine is internationally inspired and celebrates the finest in seasonal ingredients paired with a genuine sense of welcome. We are refiners: we take time-honoured comforts and seek to do them better than we did last time, evolving to make them ever more delightful.

Our Dining Room serves blind, multi-course tasting menus. Comfortable tables accommodate 2-4 guests ($185 per guest). Our chic Barroom, situated in an adjacent room, offers a succinct la carte food menu to complement its classically-inspired cocktails. Reservations for the Dining Room open in two month blocks and are made via Tock.
Services
Alo's Barroom is inspired by the relaxed elegance of the world's great hotel bars. It offers a concise sharing-style, la carte menu that is adapted from the Dining Room's nightly offerings. Raw seafood items, meat-based entres, vegetable-focused sides and desserts complement the bar's classically-influenced cocktails and fine wines.
Salon, our only space devoted to private dining, opened in 2019. An intimate room that's conveniently located in Yorkville, it offers multi-course tasting menus in the style of Alo. Both the room and the fare can also accommodate cocktail receptions, celebrations, corporate events and meetings. For more details, please email us.
Since Alo's opening, we have been fortunate to secure some notable accolades and encouraging words from the press. Below are some highlights. In its fifth year the disciplined kitchen continues to turn out dishes with the same elevated finesse that regulars demand and are so contentedly accustomed to.
The Alo Food Group invests in people. Our culture is one that makes reaching for excellence and constant progression habitual. We look forward to coming to work and take pride in what we do, how we care for our guests, and how we treat each other. If you are interested in employment with the Alo Food Group, we are keen to meet you.

It's impossible to get a seat for indoor dining Canada's number one ranked restaurant, so I capitalized on their set menu take out which changes weekly. Flavors were superb, but definitely would have been better experienced in the restaurant as the plating is impossible to maintain with takeout getting bumped around. Excellent value at $75pp!

5 years ago, I gave it a 5 stars. I was a bit disappointed tonight.
Service is very important. They did a great job before but tonight we did not feel comfortable with the tone and manner of the manager/supervisor - He kicked at my chair without apologies; the way he gave me the receipt ...
We love the Japanese Rice and Dicer Sole. For the main, I had Lamb Rack and it's really good. My friends had Wagyu which's additional $65 and they said it's not worth. The last course was towards acidic instead of sweet. To my surprise, I did not finish all Petit Fours which always my fav.

The $185 tasting menu was full of creamy and sweet courses. Our server offered to "switch" our lamb for wagyu beef, but he failed to mention there would be an extra $65 charge. Be prepared to spend $400 per person for an OK meal. This was an extremely disappointing and overpriced experience at one of Canada's "top" restaurants.

P.s. Christopher the Sommelier was fantastic.

2nd time and still consistently great experience. From the very beginning to the very end, everything tasted great. Highlight for me had to have been the foie gras tart, bread and the sorbet sandwich! Every plate was well balanced despite the richness of the food.

With the highly coveted reservations already secured by a friend, I had absolutely no reason to decline an invitation to dinner at one of the most renowned fine dining restaurants in Toronto, perhaps even in Canada. I've had Aloette in the past and absolutely loved their menu so I was very excited to see what Alo had to offer.

Asides from the rather.. interesting elevator ride up to the restaurant, which arguably felt like we were entering a speakeasy from how covert and dingy the elevator was, the overall restaurant experience was impeccable, a true reflection of fine dining. From the way

My husband and I got food poisoning from Alo. When we let management know, we were appalled that they brushed us off and told us it's likely because we weren't used to the heavy and cream rich nature of their dishes. As if we've never had the opportunity to eat at upscale restaurants before. Not only we're we out over 600$, managements handling of our situation was unacceptable from a restaurant of this caliber.
I would also like to mention that last year when we got Alo take out, a LIVE FLY came out of our dessert box. Clearly quality issues aren't a one off occurrence

Simply the best. There's nothing much more to say. The praise is well deserved. There is nothing pretentious about this place; inspired food cooked perfectly.

We went in for in person dining before COVID with high expectations, and we were blown away. When Canada gets its first Michelin star, this should be the place that nabs it. Cant wait to return.

There aren't enough exclamation marks and hype is all true. Ordered in, everything was perfect. PERFECT. Steak, cooked perfectly. Scallops, crisp on the outside and butter to slice through. The milk buns are crack. We didn't have room for dessert and had it the next day and it was incredible. Everything is seasoned to perfection. At $65 a person it's an actual steal. I don't know if they'll keep the Alo at home going but if they do walk don't run before they cancel in and go back to full time in person dining! We're ordering it again this weekend for an early

I've been waiting to eat at this restaurant for several months now.
Service was not very impressive despite the only interaction we made was "can I get some cutlery with this meal so I can eat it at a park nearby" and got a response with "we don't provide it" , really? Ffs!

The overall experience of the food was mediocre. I'd say the flavours are not my cup of tea. There's no wow factor to most of the courses served. Totally not worth the money, but I'll give them benefit of the doubt that it's because they are serving it thru takeout style so

This is my absolute favourite restaurant in the whole world. We went in 2017 shortly after it was opened and it definitely lived up to its hype. Each dish was meticulously placed and presented like a piece of art. The flavours were devine and a lot of thought was put into it. The servers were attentive and I loved how they curated a personal menu for us to keep at the end (with a special message for us).

We returned in the summer of 2020 where the restaurant was in the outdoor tent due to COVID. The tables were spread out, all servers were equipped with PPE and it felt safe. Once again they did

I was able to still try their food during the pandemic earlier this year. alo decided to switch gears and move over to #aloathome. I tried two of their sets and it was amazing! The Mother's Day brunch and also another set in June. I love that they always print out a menu to go along with it snd it feels like I'm eating there! They also offer a Spotify playlist that I used when we were eating to mimick the atmosphere :) price point is also great at $65 pp.

Can't wait to be able to go back again to dine but until then it'll be alo at home :)

"This a review for Alo at Home"

This is my first time trying Alo - we made a reservation back in April but it was cancelled due to covid.

The menu on the night we ordered takeout, Saturday October 24th, consisted of hen, sides of your choosing, Alo rolls and salad. For the sides we went with the roasted Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes.

Every dish was cooked and salted perfectly and there was an incredible balance of flavours and textures - it was just unbelievable!

All of the dishes were packaged well and the reheating instructions were spot on.

Hands down the best takeout

Alo, topping Canada's best restaurant list for the 3rd year, has a notorious 3 month waiting list. We were lucky enough to get on the cancellation list for a weekday reso!

Upon arrival, we were taken to the bar where we were welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine. And within a few minutes were taken to our table. The decor was dim and minimalist, which I assume was to place emphasis on the food.

While the majority of dishes were innovative and flavourful, some courses were missing a wow factor. The notable courses were: Hokkaido Sea urchin risotto (so creamy and delicious)kanpachi with

I've been to Alo in person twice. Both occasions were lovely and you certainly get the consistent fine dining experience that you would expect at this price point. This review speaks to the Alo at Home takeout venture.

Although nothing will replace an in person visit, Alo at Home is a wonderful way for avid fans to support the restaurant during this challenging time in the food service industry. It also provides a high quality experience at a portion of the usual cost for those who are looking to try Canada's most highly rated restaurant for the first time.

Best experience of 2020 (throwback to our Valentine's Day dinner prior to the ongoing lockdown and crisis). Will be planning on ordering their new delivery service to support our local restaurants and will provide an update when the forks are down. Overall, the restaurant lived up to its reputation as the paramount culinary experience in Toronto.

Atmosphere:
The restaurant was accessible via a private elevator and located above its more casual concept, Aloette. In a brick and beam setting reminiscent of a countryside chateau, the vibe provides a nod to its French influence and heritage without

Alo is one of the finest dining experiences in Toronto, a solid 9.5/10 in my books with impeccable service. Note the culinary experience will take a full 3 hours to enjoy, so I hope you're not in a rush!

My 10 course tasting menu was a seemed like an endless stream of wonderful dishes. My tasting menu had several highlights for me including the east coast lobster, dover sole, muscovy duck, milk fed veal tenderloin, and the Kumamoto A5 Wagyu beef!

The veal tenderloin was spectacular, absolutely the best tenderloin I've had in my life! Wonderful texture and moist; I actually found it

If you don't get the wine pairing, you are doing it wrong. I'm reading reviews by people who just had the tasting without the wine pairing and I am shaking my head at you.

The wine pairing changed the entire experience for us. It was an additional $130pp but it was phenomenal because it gave such an emphasis to the different flavors in each dish. I'm not even going to talk about service because this is Canada's #1 restaurant so service is expected to be stellar here.

I'm also not going to go into each dish but the one that stood out to me the most was the Koshihikari

It only took Mr. H and me a year to get reservations, we've been trying for a while and it's not easy. Make sure to be quick, set an alarm for the morning the new set of dates go live on the website and be sure to pick the first date you prefer and do not wait to ask your partner or you'll end up with a Wednesday night 9.15 PM reservation like us. We officially postponed our anniversary this year to the date of our reservation. And it was totally worth it!

We were greeted by the hostess next to the elevator who wished us a happy anniversary, I was already impressed. We exit on

I saw many good reviews on yelp and decided to give this so-called no. 1 restaurant in Canada a try. It was awful.

Here are a few bad things about the restaurant:

-As a so-called high-end restaurant, I was expecting the server to be knowledgable. Instead, when she introduced the dishes, she was like simply reading a script out.

-The portion is so small that it can only feed me 60% full and half of it comes from the bread. I'm a super small eater btw.

-Finally, the food is terrible. The chef doesn't seem to know the fundamental of cooking. The flavour for most of the dishes are bizarre
