Services
The Italian Market is Halifax's premiere destination for all things Italian with the most extensive array of Italian food products east of Montral. The company was founded in 1994 by Nathan (Gus) Abato as a small wholesale delivery business supplying Italian food products to restaurants in Halifax.
Our Limoncello, Raspberry, and White Chocolate Tortes can be made flourless with an Almond Genoise. An Italian classic made with alternating layers of Tia Maria and espresso-soaked Savoiardi biscuits and mascarpone, egg, and sugar cream. Almond sponge cake soaked in coffee syrup and Tia Maria liqueur filled with ganache and coffee buttercream.
A fine array of our imported and domestic cheeses with grapes, spicy fruit compote and market crostini. Assorted selection of our most famous deli sandwiches quartered and presented on trays. When served with soup, salads and desserts consider ordering fewer sandwiches per person unless appetites run high.
Local in-store or curb-side pick-up is available at our Young Street location. For more information see our FAQs Section. Our minimum on-line order is $30. For smaller orders please consider shopping in-store or call 902-455-6124 to arrange for pickup. We offer delivery to the greater Halifax area including Dartmouth, Bedford and Lower Sackville for a delivery fee based on the distance from our store.
We help all kinds of organizations and businesses realize their fundraising goals with our popular baked goods and products. Our facility produces products with peanuts, tree nuts, soy milk, eggs and wheat. While we take steps to minimize cross contamination we cannot guarantee that any of our products are safe to consume for people with peanut, tree nut, soy, milk, egg or wheat allergies.

Stopped by for a quick bite to eat. The food was great but the lemon pot de creme was to die for it was so tart and lemony!
The service was also amazing especially Anthony who was so friendly and just all around a pleasure.

Excellent service!
They went out of their way to fulfill a last minute request for a cheese ordet so I could surprise a friend. The Struan bread was delicious. This will be a regular stop for my trips to Halifax.

Is this a hidden gem? They offer SO much more than I assumed. A very good spot for lunch in between shifts. Cod cakes, risotto balls, classic Italian style sandwiches, PANCHETTA, and exquisite coffee. This is a busy bustling team coming together to deliver an elevated experience. In my opinion the prices are fair. When I eat here I feel ready for the day.
Now, let's talk about desserts... which are incredible. Authentic cannolis, custard, and a lemon mirange pie that takes first place in my books.
This team does it right. I can tell the passion is in their ingredients. I can taste the real pallet

I enjoy the niche products that can be found here like the pasta sauces, frozen pizza dough, oils, breads, etc. The items are a bit on the pricy side but the quality is there. The store is always clean and products fresh. I especially like the funny napkins that are perfect for a special event or party. They're always a hit at our family Christmas parties! My only real complaint is I find the service very cold. Nobody smiles or greets you, everyone seems to be too busy restocking shelves to notice guests. Even when ordering food to go, there's very little customer service. I've been a few times

I ordered a large quantity of food for my wedding (40 guests) this past weekend and I was so pleased! Everything tasted amazing and looked really good too. All of my guests loved the food!
I spoke with Ron throughout the ordering process. He answered all of my questions and was great to deal with!

Outstanding service and tasty italian food with many options to choose from. I love the salad selection they carry and the different types of lasagna. All staff members are polite and the owner walks by to make sure the customers are satisfied with the food and the service. It is one of my favorite lunch spots.

We have been going to the Italian Market for awhile now... It has
the freshest Salad Bar in Town! Everything in it is interesting...
They make a "Boston Potato Salad" that is different than the average Potato Salad...and very good!
Their Toasted Sandwiches are amazing, so big they are hard to finish!
They have a Sandwich Menu on the wall that is FULL of interesting combinations! They also have freshly made "Pizza by the Slice"...SO much going on in that Store - Restaurant! Tons of hard to find Italian cooking needs...

The Desert Bar is to die for... HUGE Pies, done

This place is my go to when I can't think of anything I want to eat. Especially for lunch. Ive only had the sandwiches and a few of the salads but they have pasta and lasagna that also look delicious. They also have a few cakes and small French pastries.

I was going to take my daughter to the Italian market for lunch after an appointment across the street. I parked in the mostly empty parking lot in front of the Italian market complex. I was told by a T4S guard I could not park there. The Italian market lost my business today.

A cozy place to have tasty dessert. It's a bit over priced. Have tried tiramisu and lemon cake from here and they really taste great. They do take orders for birthday cakes. Have good stuff from kitchen tools line.

Great spot. It's an interesting place a mix of shopping and dining. Location is good with plenty of parking. I can't speak much for that shopping experience but the dining was great. Staff was nice and the food was delicious. Prices were a bit high but considering the taste it was worth it.

Food can be hit or miss, ranging from good to 'meh'. I often see staff wiping serving spatulas or knives with nasty dish clothes, or just using their hands when getting desserts out of the dessert cooler. Touching ready to eat food with bare hands.... Big food safety no no. Should be using tongs or gloves.

One of my absolute favorite places to grab lunch in Halifax. You can't find a better smoked salmon sandwich on the peninsula, and don't even get me started on their lattes and desserts.

I prefer the downtown location much better- here's a tip- update your menu if you can't combo anything anymore instead of telling me when I inquire, especially when it is busy and you want what you are used to getting. I also thought the noodle side was 1.00$, now it's 2.99$? Update your website too for that matter please. Had the meatball burger and noodle side - not too bad, sandwich stood up to remaining in tact even though filled and later microwaved which was good and noodles were good with parm and butter on them.

I've been grabbing a sandwich here off and on for the past 20 or so years. The locations have changed but the quality of food an service have remained. Tasty ingredients make for good eats and this is a welcome alternative to the "chain" food fare. Eat in or take out and you can also grab a few groceries if you need. Don't feel like cooking ? There is always a nice selection of ready prepared items to heat up & make a meal of when you get home !

Had the spaghetti and meatballs! Want disappointed in the flavour at all. Could of had a little more noodles but I'm a heavy eater anyways! The meatballs were almost the same texture as the canned meatballs with gravy you buy at the grocery store but a lot bigger and the flavour of them was really good. Definitely better the canned ones. Had the garlic bread with it and it seemed pretty fresh. Came here a few days ago and got a MEATBALL PIZZA! First time having one and it was amazing! That's actually the reason why I came back today hoping to grab another slice of something but all the

The Italian Market is alright. I moved to Halifax from Ottawa a little over a year ago, Ottawa is home to a few really excellent Italian grocers, and The Italian Market isn't in the same realm as the ones in Ottawa. The Italian Market is a decent place to go if you're trying to cook an Italian dish with difficult to find ingredients, or if you want a sandwich or a piece of cake on the go.

A few products I've tried include chicken parm sandwich and lemon pot de creme, as well as the premade chocolate chip cookies... All of which receive sterling reviews from me. However, I&apos

I have to admit, I was really excited about trying this place out. maybe because I was so excited I was left disappointed. The Salami in the case was the same brand I could get at the Atlantic Super Store but a bit more expensive. I really didn't find a huge variety. I tried their meatballs - again disappointed, I thought they lacked full flavour, quite frankly I make better at home. I also found it to be a little pricey for what you got. Unfortunately, I can't imagine a reason to go back.

I came upon this market accidentally and decided to go in and see if they had the hot italian peppers that I have been searching for ever since I found some at Costco once (couldn't remember the brand and Costco never got them back after that one week that I found them). Anyway, I did buy a small jar which were high priced but to my amazement were exactly the flavour of peppers I was looking for! I Iove, love, love these peppers on a hot Italian sausage sandwich (Johnsonville sausages are the best ever for flavour)! I will certainly be stocking up on these peppers in case they disappear

I swear one of the favorite things about this place is the perfume that mingles from the kitchen and aisles of food. It is a hard to describe but an oh so yummy mix of fresh baked breads, italian deli meats and deliciousness being prepped in the kitchen. I've long been coming here for the from scratch pizza dough, gelato, balsamic vinegars, and other authentic Mediterranean goodies that you won't find elsewhere. The staff are super knowledgeable about what is sold in the store and can make recommendations on substitutions in the unlikely event thay they dont have what you need for your

I go here once every few months, and the part I get MOST excited for is the grocery area. The amazing italian ingredients and fun cooking supplies makes it completely worth the visit.

The food/ restaurant side is also good, I feel like they have the same things every time I go, which is not a bad thing, but I tend to like to constantly try new things. Then again I am not here all the time so, I can still do that!

They have a nice big selection of desserts in a display case, probably something for ANYONE with a sweet tooth!

They also have freshly baked bread which is a great treat, get some amazing

Well, after hearing so many good things about this place, they really brought me down several pegs, the Salad was generic with no love to it with crappy boxed croutons, spaghetti wasn't terrible but my sweet heart pointed out that the sauce tasted like it was from a can, the only part that earned a star was the desserts, Mint Cheesecake and Carrot cake, lovely presented and it is good.
The other issue I have with this place is it's cramped and I hate to be there at a busy time especially so many shelves somewhat blocking people who are browsing and people who are paying for both the cafe

Italian Market is a pretty routine lunch stop for me. It's not far from my work and an easy place to meet up with friends of mine that work at Willow Park. I'm thinking of the place mainly as a restaurant for the purposes of writing this review, but it's also a great Italian grocery store with a good selection of meats, cheeses, pastas, Italian specialties... you know, what the name implies!

They have a great sandwich selection, including grilled paninis which I have yet to try - I tend to be mostly a muffaleta kind of guy (with an amazing olive pesto, man is it good). They have

High marks for the food, lower marks for the spotty service. This place has never been able to get a handle on its staff, and that's always been a bit a drawback. Still, they make some really great food, including one of my favourite things to bring to a social gathering - the salmon and cream-cheese pate. You will be the favourite of any group if you bring this to a party with a few crackers and a nice bottle of vino. They also make nice pizzas, great sandwiches, and lots of pre-made pastas for instant lunches and dinners to eat in or take out.

The shop is also an Italian grocery, and
