The Ruby Foo's brand has been a mainstay in Montreal culture for over half a century. The restaurant opened in the late 1950's, and established itself as the place to see and be seen. Politicians, Broadway stars and movie actors, as well as the business and sporting elite, all made Ruby Foo's the top spot in the city.
It was class personified, fun and lively. The hotel first opened its doors in 1962 and quickly became an ideal destination for both business and leisure travelers. In 1984, a group of developers acquired the property with the vision of turning it into a 198-room hotel complex, including a mini-convention centre, a restaurant, commercial space and an office tower.

Upon booking the reservation, we noticed that this hotel was rated as a four star but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The checkin process was extremely smooth, we were told that all of the rooms were recently renovated and the hotel also displays photos online of renovations. However, once we got into the room it was very clear that it wasn’t. Walls were covered in some sort of white splattering, pieces of furniture were missing panels and the room was not properly cleaned, or up to par with normal cleaning even pre covid. Very disappointed to see how poorly represented the hotel was

Stayed here for 5 days. Since it's pandemic, there is no service room available ( I did not try to request) We just put our soiled towels and garbage outside our room and order new set of towels. They have microwave for rent $10/day. The hotel have services such SPA, restaurants, conference rooms, free WIFI. The pool is seasonal, located near the restaurant.

Horrible customer service. Checked in on Thursday and was checking out on Saturday. Came back from a funeral on the Friday around 2:30pm to find the bed stripped to the mattress and my clothing and items moved to the side. I told the front desk who informed me that house keeping should have called them to double check the rooms status. That was obviously not done. I got a simple sorry and told they will make the bed up. The customer service here is horrible, was told the manager would call me but have yet to hear from anyone. If you want to feel violated and made to feel like crap I would recommend

Absolutely worst customer service. Room lights didn’t work. The water was cut off in the morning when it is time to get ready to shower, use bathroom before checking out. We were not told about it at the booking time OR at the checking in time. When we complained we were told that if we stay over the checkout time to wait to use the bathroom to get ready we would get charged extra. Or more specifically “why do you need water in the bathroom?”
Do yourself a favour and rent a cheap motel compared to this. I have never experienced this at any hotel ever before.

Big rooms but curtains have rips on them, paint in bathroom were peeling and carpets were dirty.
They also used the pandemic excuse not to make the beds and not to replace the towels. They will give you the sheets but you have to put them on yourself.
We stayed at another hotel for 3 nights before we stayed here and our beds were made and we got fresh towels everyday.

This hotel located in a best place for all amenities. Service used to be great. But now using pandemic as excuse all the facilities were reduced. No fridge and microwave. If you need microwave you need to pay 10$ per day. House keeping will provide you very few towels. If you stay more than a day they won't provide additional towels. You need call reception. Very disappointed.

Stayed there for multiple times but the last experience was very bad. The room had some kind of foul smell and I think it was locked for a while without any deep cleaning. I asked the front desk for help but they told me that the hotel is fully booked and they can not help. He actually asked me to open the window so fresh air can come in. Front desk was courteous but not helpful. Never got a follow up call from the manager as promised. I think they really need to maintain deep cleaning after the pandemic. Won’t be returning again.

The hotel is close to highway, so it's easy to reach other places. There is metro station nearby and metro line goes to downtown, so one can travel via metro as well. There are a number of restaurants and coffee shops nearby, so that's good.
The room which was provided to us, the big lamp was not working. The lighting was not enough for us at night. The bathroom door was like built the older doors, you have to push hard to lock. However, the room was in good condition.

We booked months in advance and requested two adjoining rooms, due to our son being autistic and a flight risk. Not only was the front desk manager not willing to accommodate our request despite us checking in and requesting early, she would not switch our rooms on the second night, due to the guests leaving in the room booked between ours. Many excuses were made. The beds were nice and the room clean, but the indifference and the callousness of the front desk manager negated all of the comforts of our stay. Never again.

Given a dirty room for a two night stay in the pandemic and no towels. The “manager” never got back to us when we called (twice) so we ended up going downstairs ourselves. He offered no proper resolution, concern or consideration for jeopardizing our health and safety when our walls and ceilings looked like someone was thrown Coke all over them and was dripping. We showed him photos and videos. He literally said the room required a deep clean which they didn’t and COULDN’T provide at this time. He apparently couldn’t move us either because they were “fully booked” and made up excuses

Having stayed at this hotel many times before I made a reservation two weeks ago for my girlfriend and my service dog. Upon arriving I was told by the lady at the front desk that the general manager would not allow service dogs because of the Covid. I had travelled all day and was exhausted upon checking in, humiliated angry and found it very rude… that the general manager did not even have the courtesy to come down and speak with us. We were forced to stay in another hotel. I had my registration and all my paperwork including a letter from my psychotherapist and I’ve never had problems

Visited several friends who were staying here.
If you're happy to take a metro everywhere, I suppose this place is ok.
It's across the street from a Wal Mart, McD, Burger King, Wendy's, etc.
Kind of crappy unless you like that stuff.
Rooms were both small, hallways need brightening up.
Lobby is nice.
It would never be my first choice if I came to Montreal as a tourist but it's ok.

Located not too far from everywhere, Ruby Foo's is a decent stay. Prices are not too bad. Rooms are dated and worn but functional. Has a unique sliding door on the window instead of having black out curtain. Bathroom is tight and shower pressure, as usual, is non-existent. Little perks to be had here but they do have a decent bar and Eggspectation is available for a good breakfast.
If dining isn't enough at Otago (on site restaurant) there are quite a bit of quick serves around, and again, not that far from downtown and other places that you might want to be.
Lots of Asian inspired

We booked one night at this place at the last minute through Hotel Tonight. The place is very old and worn down. Our room seemed clean, the bed was comfortable and parking was free, but the overall aesthetic was less than pleasing. The walls looked dirty and the bathroom doors inside the room were broken. Carpet was dark and didn't feel very clean. Overall, I think the place is overpriced and I wouldn't stay there again.

First, the good:
- Free parking
- Large rooms
- Nice outdoor pool
- Friendly staff
The bad:
- If you are a tourist you will be a minimum of 20 minutes drive (longer if there is traffic) from anything you want to do.
- Rooms are not cleaned thoroughly. As other reviews note, our room was indeed dusty and there were also stains on the bathtub. We also found a previous guest's tank top folded up in the closet.
- We had an issue with our toilet and it took three calls, starting at 6 PM and ending at 8 pm with us begging that someone be sent up soon as our kids were headed to bed soon. The excuse

I got a deal for the room for a night it was $125 for the evening which included a 2 Queen sized beds and mini fridge. I slept great as the mattress was a great quality, Duvet that felt like a pillow and great pillows as well. They have an amazing pool area outside. Wonderful restaurant and bar which is also reasonable priced. I highly suggest their breakfast restaurant with freshly squeezed juices and great crepes !

An okay travellers hotel. It's in a somewhat industrial/off the beaten path area off Decarie. Lots of things within walking distance, including that orange julip. There's a McDonald's and a short walk from a plaza with more dining options.
An older hotel for sure but the rooms have a certain amount of boutique look. The restaurant attached to the hotel is good for breakfast. The gym actually is quite well done. Has everything essentially including full weight rack. I'd stay here again if I had to come to this area myself but it is a bit of a dated place.

This hotel had a comfortable bed and clean room, but it was dated. The very, very old heating/cooling system was one of those fan deals -- very noisy and impossible to regulate the setting between hot and cold. We ended up turning it off. They gave us a room that we had to take an elevator, walk like a mile, go down a set of stairs, and walk another long ways. The people at the desk were helpful, but we would not stay here again.

We chose Ruby Foo's for a last-minute road trip to Montreal, and it proved more than satisfactory for our needs. The room itself was clean and adequate in the amenities department; we didn't come to the city to sit in a hotel room anyway. Free, no-hassle parking allowed us to dump our car and explore the city by foot and on public transit, which is a short walk away. The outdoor swimming pool was outstanding (as far as hotel pools go), which made for a nice early morning treat for the kids. And the breakfast place downstairs was surprisingly tasty. Only downsides: WiFi was slow as molasses

I stayed at this hotel not to long ago... During our 8 day tour of the East Coast when, I first heard the name Ruby Fool's Hotel... For me it sounded like a Chinese restaurant when I first saw this hotel from the inside and outside this Ruby Fool's hotel it wasnt that bad of a hotel... There is just two things that... I have to say about this hotel #1 the hotel room where I stayed was okay and for #2 didnt like when Ruby Fool's only had one elevator to use that was the only thing that I didn't like... But overall in what, I really like most about Ruby Fool's hotel is the
