1st time customer and very unpleased.
They forgot part of my takeout order and when I called I was told it would be replaced free of charge.
So I drive back and when I arrive I'm informed I have to pay for my food and was given a free desert instead. What a joke after wasting almost an hour of my time and gas.
You're lucky I was too hungry and tired to fight about it.

We love this place!
An oasis in the chain lake drive wasteland.
Lovely and spacious (although I keep wondering how they clean the tree in the middle of the atrium - do they clean the tree…?).
Good Greek food, friendly respectful servers, lovely details like fresh warm pita bread while you wait for your order.

Shout out to Ela Bayers Lake! We took our kids to celebrate a school achievement and it was amazing! My son is celiac and eats gluten free. They had gf pita and a LOT of options for him. There was one snafu with our meal, and the waitress not only took it off the bill, but gave us my favourite dessert as well as a gluten free one to take home. It’s been our favourite restaurant as long as it’s been open, and we will definitely be back!

This used to be the best spot to get haddock, it was so great. Maybe it was a one time thing but I went there and the haddock was terrible. Like food truck terrible. Dry and so small. In fairness, the big piece of juicy amazing haddock I always had at the Ela in Dartmouth crossing. So maybe it's unfair to think both locations would have the same quality food.
The appetizers were awesome and the atmosphere was awesome.
Service was tough. Took 50 minutes to get apps to table.
They forgot things and was just not good. However that attitude of the stuff was great. I feel like it's tough to hire

For quite some time Ela has been my absolute favorite restaurant to regularly visit. I've been going since before the name changed from "opa!".
The moussaka is an obvious go-to plate, that I've recommended just about everyone I know try!
However, within the last 2 to 3 years, the moussaka has changed. It is always cold in the center, to a degree of being considerably undercooked consistently. I can say that, out of my last 5 visits, 4/5 plates were very much cold in the center.
Also, bread served used to be baked fresh and warm, with the balsamic and olive mixed at the table. Still good, still

Im only not giving a 5 star rating, because I didn't like the fact that my stuffed chicken breast was a boneless piece of meat that had the skin still on. Normally I like the skin when its crispy, not soft, slimy and very chewy. My friend ordered the beef short rib and boy was I wishing I had went the same route. It was mouth watering, the most tender delicious beef I have tasted in a long time. The spanakopita was amazing. The tzaikii dip was the perfect blend of creamy tangy goodness. Served with warm pita slices. We never got a pic in time because we were starving and cleaned that plate in record

I have been there several times and always enjoyed my experience. Today was a different story. I ordered three Greek salads, one being with avocado. The prices were 15 each plus 16 for the one with avocado. When we received the salads I have to say there was about a dollars worth of lettuce in all three bowls. The bowls were only half filled so… about 2 cups all together. The salad with avocado had one, yes one olive that was pitted and cut into about 5 pieces. We all asked for light dressing and two came without any dressing at all. The bowls were half full and not worth what I paid at

Πάρα πολύ ωράιο φαγητό! This is some of the best Greek food I've had outside of Greece.
I was surprised to find such delicious and inspired flavours of the Mediterranean in Halifax! But Ela is a wonderful,… rich and healthy option for anyone craving a taste of the Mediterranean in Canada.
Personally I loved the falafel's dynamic recipe and the way it fits perfectly with the tangy tahini. As a vegetarian it was also refreshing to find such a veggie-centric menu that keeps veggie cuisine fresh

Used Ela!'s curb side pick up last week. Super easy! I called in my order, paid by credit card over the phone and told them the make and color of my car and they gave me a pick up time. I drove up in front of the restaurant, parked, popped the trunk and someone came out and put my order in the trunk for me. We enjoyed our chicken souvlaki dinner for two and baklava for dessert! They even let us get half fries/half lemon potatoes 🙂

Brought my parents here last night & it was a really great experience!
I ordered; roasted red pepper feta dip, the new squash dip & octopus. For meals mom and I did the Greek duo (something like that) which would be 2 of the Greek meals(moussaka and stuffed pepper), shared salad and a shared skewer for $32. & my step dad got the salmon.
Appetizers were great other than the octopus.. I normally love it but it may have been over cooked. The waitress took it off the bill at the end when she heard me say I was just packing it for my dog as I didn't really like it. (Very nice of

Chicken shawarma lunch! In town on business and we came here for lunch.
Really good fresh food. Real roasted potatoes... REAL roasted potatoes!!
Friendly service and an open bright modem decor. I wish I had Greek food close to me that was half as food as this!
Definitely coming back the next time I come through!

The atmosphere of this restaurant is quite good. Lots of interesting Greek decor and the layout is unique and clean.
My girlfriend ordered the shawarma bowl and opted to get lamb as the protein. When she got it, the meat tasted more like beef. I tried some and could see her point. Very strange tasting "lamb". Luckily the bowl itself was quite good. I opted for the seafood chickpea salad. Many pieces of the octopus came burnt, and using chickpeas as the base is a bit much - they're very filling. Had they not burnt the octopus and used something less filling for the base it would

Visited tonight and while the waiter was not very enthusiastic, the food was good. Lamb chops and lamb souvlaki are great options. Good portion of salad and rice. Stingy on the tzatziki with only on spoonful per plate. The pop is served in small old fashioned bottle $2.35 per serving.
Parking is easy, restaurant atmosphere is nice.

Food was dry, burnt and my mouth tasted like char for an hour after eating here. My wife's food was the same. Even the Pizza was overcooked and burnt. The salad is not a Greek salad, made mostly of romaine Lettuce. For a high end restaurant they should be ashamed. The dressing was just a little olive oil and had no flavor as well. Not one dish we ordered was worth eating.
Even the bread they gave us before we had our dinner was under proofed so tasted like yeast. Will not eat her again. This is not the quality it once was when it was Opa's. Not worth the money.

Had a wonderful evening at Ela in Dartmouth Crossing last night. Started with 2 glasses of great wine, then Flatbread as an appetizer, it was excellent. Can't even describe how good it was.(I know it was only flatbread, but I'm not kidding!). Next I had the Schwarma chicken bowl and my husband had the Chicken Schwarma. If you are looking for great food and wine this should be your next stop. Our server was a lovely girl from St Peters. She was sweet. Thanks for giving us a great start to our weekend.

I've been to Ela quite a few times over the years, but not really within the last two, and when I've gone before it has usually been late night dinners..so this is the first time I've ever gone during the day.
I really like their menu..they keep it simple while maintaining some authenticity. I don't like foods that are overly spiced or that are too rich, so I was pleasantly surprised when the food came out very clean, fresh and not overly complicated. I've had too many experiences at Greek restaurants where I come away with sever indigestion and burping up garlic and who-knows-what for days.

Went just before closing. Order spaghetti and open face lamb shawarma with fries. The fries could have been crispier and the shawarma meat was slightly overcooked. I caulked it up to being the end of the night. It was tasty and filling and had great flavor... Could have used the classic garlic sauce though. ;)

Absolutely great ambiance going on for being located in a strip mall. If you didn't know you were in a strip mall, you wouldn't know you were in a strip mall. Our server was very sweet, and checked on us often, but not in an overbearing way.
As we weren't very hungry, my dad and I tried the Mediterranean Trio for $15. I think the price was a little high on this, but my goodness it was good quality. The pita was so soft and flavorful and kopanisti was heaven in your mouth. The tzatsiki and hummus were your basic run of the mill hummus, but were obviously homemade. My dad said

I grew up eating lots of garlic in most of my meals - so when I go to Ela! if there isn't enough garlic, I start to question the establishment. So far so good, that's never happened to me yet!
I love their souvalaki, their shawarma (even though it's very different than the Lebanese kind I'm used to), and the lemon potatoes/greek salad are so good!
I'd like to do a review of one visit here - but to be honest, I go to this Ela at least once or twice a month. So it all kind of mixes together - but what stays the same is the food quality and service. They seem to have this

If you are ever out in Dartmouth crossing and would like a hot spot to eat go to OPA. Decorated with the Greek theme in mind with stone white walls, dark wooden tables and brightly coloured tiles accenting the architecture.
Of course going to OPA the chicken Slovakia was on my list to order. Chicken with your choice of potatoes or rice I chose the roasted potatoes with side of Greek salad delicious all for $12. For desert we ordered chocolate torte $6.
Opa is a fun restaurant with music playing almost like you are at a big family dinner party. Service is great and friendly!!
This is a must
