After completing his Bachelor of Science degree with honors, Dr. Poon pursued his doctorate, graduating from the University Of Waterloo School Of Optometry in 2002. Dr. Poon has been providing quality eye care to the Victoria area for over fifteen years. He provides full scope optometric care with special interest in dry eye and ocular disease.

Your retina (located in the back of your eye) is the only place in the body where blood vessels can be seen directly. This means that in addition to ocular pathology, signs of other systemic conditions can be seen in the retina.
The Lipiscan is a non-invasive technology to help doctors scan Meibomian glands and accurately diagnose MGD. Lipiscan has revolutionized the diagnosis of dry eyes caused by MGD. Dry eye caused by MGD occurs when there is insufficient secretion of meibum, the oil substance, due to either physical blockage of the glands or the glands are not working properly themselves.

Went to see Dr. Poon for the first time. He was very good.
The only complaint I would have is that Dr. Poon seemed to
be rushing me through my appointment. Talked to me while
looking away from me at the computer. I would have like more time spent
on the results of the Optomap that I paid extra for. He seemed anxious to
get done with the appointment. Not good. The Diamond Eye Glass people
in his office were very high sales pressure on frames nd lenses. Didn't like
being hussled by them. Will take any future Rx to another eyeglass company.

Dr. Poon is an excellent optometrist. He uses the most up to date equipment which most other labs do not. Dr. Poon diagnosed a condition quite early in my eyes and I was able to visit the eye specialist and have the condition taken care of. The specialist commented that most optometrists would not have noticed the condition. I highly recommend Dr. Poon.

Dr. Poon is awesome, he diagnosed me with an eye alignment issue, I had a special lense in my glasses that corrected it over time and now I no longer have any problems.

Before I left my last eye doc who could never seem to get my contact lens prescriptions right, I asked my friends who was a great eye doc in Victoria? Most of them said Doctor Poon and Purely Optometry! I am so very happy that I found him! For the first time ever, after trying about 20 different contact lens prescriptions for my bifocal needs, he brought me to 20/20 vision with contacts. He has a super camera that can see signs of impending issues like thinning retina areas, gave me tests I have never had anywhere else and takes the time to explain what they mean and what to watch for. We were visiting Victoria from the US when I developed an extremely painful eye problem. Dr. Poon saw me right away, correctly diagnosed and treated my problem with both kindness and concern. Genuinely impressed by my latest visit to Dr. Poon's office. He truly went above and beyond - not only was my eye test top notch but he also took the time to get to know me, offered me a Rice Krispie treat, and worked with my budget as a student. Not once did I feel like he was trying to upsell me. Also the most reasonable rates in town according to my own research! They have the latest Optomaps retinal imaging system. The staff member at the reception inside was super friendly as well. Overall a very pleasant visit! Definitely recommend Purely optometry!

Took over my Rx files from my previous eye doctor and refused to release my Rx to me even though it was only 3 months old with out charging me a fee. This practice is against his college and he has lost future business from my family and I for his greed. I would have considered using him for future exams as he now is in possession of my medical files, but take my chances starting from scratch.

Dr. Poon is awesome! My family and I have been seeing him for years. He goes above and beyond each visit. He truly cares about his patients. He takes the extra time to make sure I completely understand what he is saying. At one visit, he discovered I needed further treatment from an ophthalmologist because I was showing the beginning stages of glaucoma. The ophthalmologist actually said I should thank Dr. Poon (which I did) because he saved me from vision loss. The wait time to see him can be a little extra, but it is totally worth it. If you need an optometrist - see Dr. Poon.

I have been seeing Dr. Poon for quite a few years. He is very knowledgeable and personable. He is one of the best in the city according to the specialist I saw. Two years ago, he diagnosed my narrowing angles glaucoma, which can instantly cause blindness. He referred me to a specialist who told me to thank Dr. Poon for saving my eyesight. I will not go to anyone else now.
Also, staff at the office are very nice and professional.
