The people that work here all have one thing in common: They love caring for animals. Our number one focus is making sure that your pet gets prompt, quality and compassionate medical service, because we care about the well-being of your pets as if they were our own. Many of us have rescued at least one animal while working here.

Services
We offer a wide range of services including medical, diagnostic, surgical, and preventive health care needs for your pet so they live a longer, healthier, happier life. One of the best things you can do for your pet is to keep him or her healthy. And one of the easiest and least expensive ways to do that is by bringing in your pet for regular exams and vaccinations.
We are temporarily unable to accept new clients at this time. Due to an overwhelming number of new pets that found homes throughout the pandemic, many veterinary hospitals are struggling to keep up with the number of appointments needed to keep everyone healthy, happy and safe. In order to maintain the quality of care and level of service you and your pet deserve, we have had to pause on accepting new pets.
When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted warmly, and we will usher you into an examination room as soon as we have one available. Please feel free to browse our waiting area while you wait. Our goal is to see all of our clients and patients on time, sometimes there will be unexpected emergencies that will create delays.
We are happy to book an appointment for you. Please understand this is not an automatic process. Once we receive you request, we will contact you to confirm a date and time that is as close to your request as possible. If your appointment has not been confirmed within 24 hours, please feel free to contact the practice by phone to confirm.
On the outskirts of Orleans, the Colonial Veterinary Hospital first opened its doors in 1968, treating both large and small animals. In 1996, the practice was bought by small animal doctors Dr. Denene Clifford and Dr. Paul Brown who lead the team offering high quality and compassionate care. We will treat your pet as if it was our own!

Dr.Brown is the most amazing and caring vet we have ever met. We are so lucky to have him take care of our Siberian Husky Pixel. He is so knowledgable and understanding and takes the time to get to know your family and answer all of our questions. The staff is welcoming and kind and go above and beyond to address any questions or concerns you might have. They even sent us a personalized hand written letter. We appreciate their support so much and highly recommend their team❤️

My experience with this vet has been terrible. Their record keeping is horrible if existent. I decided to get my dog spayed in a different province due to my travel plans and cancelled my spay appointment weeks in advance. Since then, I have repeatedly been asked if I am transferring vets. I responded multiple times that I did not intend to change vets, only decided to spay her somewhere else. They have just notified me that I am no longer a client... I had never told them I was switching vets. Some of their staff are extraordinarily rude. I would not recommend this vet to anyone!

Colonial Veterinary Hospital is the absolute best place in Ottawa to take your furry family members to. The staff is so friendly and truly cares about the well-being of all of their patients. I have had multiple animals with various health problems, and not only did they provide superb care to them, but they also gave me the support I needed to be the best pet mama I could be! Thanks guys! ❤️

I’ll start with the positive- they helped my dog lose a ton of weight with a new diet plan. It gave her new life. So for that I will always be grateful. But I am 100% positive they don’t bother to review the pet history before each visit. They “discover” things that have already been there for years and tell me like it is new information. In my profession I have clients. When I speak with them I not only remember them but also their file details. Not once have I had a sense of recognition or connection with any vet there despite multiple visits each year. During covid they told me I would

As a first time dog owner I've never felt more confident and comfortable with every single doctor and tech at the clinic. They're always ready to answer all my questions, and trust me there's been alot haha. Never been more happy with my decision of clinic! Thank you for taking Skye into your family with open arms!

I trust all my furry friends with the staff here! One of my two cats has had many medical issues since he was a kitten and the time and care the vets and staff showed him is the reason he is alive today. Both cats are doing well and it's all thanks to Dr. Grimshaw and the whole staff at Colonial. Even during the pandemic, the staff had been great with curbside drop-off and pick-ups of my loved ones. On the phone and by email staff members are courteous and take time to answer my questions.

I have been to this clinic several times in the past 9 years. Initially, the staff were wonderful. But now everything has changed. The staff that are there, are so very hostile, and just doesn't care for your pet. And the Vets there too are completely indifferent.
Now I wouldn't think of ever going to back there at all.
